hi,
I'm just looking at upgrading my HD7 to 32gb. I've found a class 4 card that i know will work 100%, but i'd much rather buy a class 10 card. Does anyone know if SanDisk SDSDQU-032G-U46A will work ok? available on amazon. or has anyone else had a class 10 32gb card working in their handset?
thanks in advance
will keep this thread posted with updates to try help others in future!
I know some guys are using a 32gb - Class 10 - micro SDHC in their hd7's and just about any 32gb micro SD or micro SDHC card will work now... Just not micro SDXC cards. Not a 100% sure if the SDSDQU model will work for sure though, but if it's a newly manufactured card it should work! If there's a return policy, get it and try it, if it doesn't work return it and get the 32gb - class 10 - SDHC.
You can bench the card that you get in a PC using CrystalDiskMark 3 http://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.html
and use the 4000MB setting. Then you can post what type of card you got and the benchmark test results in this thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883582
and theses guys should be able to help you further with it!

I just picked up a HD7 to have a play with WP7. Was not intending to upgrade it but when I inserted the sim it did not go in correctly so I had to remove the back anyway. I had a 32GB Lexar class 10 which I know people have reported as not working. I've been running it for five days with no issues. I've loaded music, movies and apps all run nice and fast with no stuttering
the only card that work very good is only old class 2...Sandisk is perfect!
Im using a sandisk 32gb class 10 the red and black one with no problems at all
rocking a sandisk 64gb here

Does the G1 support class 10 sd cards?
Also, using a custom rom, can I partition the card so that a 32 gb sd cards works?
You obviously know something nobody else knows about... where to get a 32GB class 10 uSD card..... link please?

But to answer your question sjbayer3, I'm not sure if the G1 supports it.

Good luck jamming that into a uSD slot.
Its about 4 times too large, physically.
LOL.... I love these threads every few months.
The keyword you have missed OP, is the word micro. Micro carries a LOT of meaning.
either way you guys have been pretty pathetic with answering the questions:
will a 32gb micro sd card work in a g1?
my bad on the micro part... yes class 10 sd cards exist... im unsure if a micro sd class 10 exists

Well you have internet so I'm sure you can google it and find an answer...I know I did. And if you looked at my first post there is a link there that answers the question that YES Class 10 Micro SD cards do exists in 16GB format.

Nobody really knows the answer to your question. I'm guessing mostly because the 32gb microSD cards are almost worth as much as the dang phone itself. In the meantime, you can buy one and try it....if it works let us know as well.
On every search that I ran on google everyone keeps saying that the G1 doesn't support them.
the g1 should work with all SDHC cards 4gb - 32gb when it comes out

But still nobody will know because they'll probably be like 150 bucks
You could always buy one and see for yourself, I have not heard someone do it yet, but maybe you can and report back to us what you find out
Remember that sdcard and micro sdcard are DIFFERENT...
I ordered one for my hero, if it doesn't work, I'll put it in my camera. It's backordered at the moment... I'll update. I'm pretty sure that the G1 and Hero have the same SD compatibility (2.0) and I think that the class 10 is SD 3.0... so I have doubts
well, i have a class 10 16gb MicroSD Card in my Leo and it's working fine.
Also i have 2 more 16Gb cards (1 x Class 4 and 1 x Class 2), between the Class 2 and Class 4 i don't notice the speed difference when playing around on the phone but i do indeed notice the improvement in speed when using the class 10 one, so my guess is Class 10 will most likely work fine in all HTC phones using that slot form.
I'm going to buy a 16GB microsd card from sandisk. I've been finding on Amazon and found these two products:
Sandisk 16GB Mobile Ultra MicroSD Card : £36.00
SanDisk 16GB microSDHC Memory Card : £15.99
I've also noticed they're all class 2 (can't find a class 4 or class 6 sandisk). So what is the difference between them? I'm using the card for Windows Phone 7, so which one should I buy?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SD_Memory_Card#SDHC_cards_with_greater_than_32.C2.A0GB_capacity
as I understand it the only advantage of SDHC is an increased card storage. And im not sure if an SDHC card works in the HD2.

Sorry, got it wrong
They're the same thing. One has an adapter however
Ultra means it has higher transfer speeds.
There's also Ultra and Extreme in the regular SDs.
Ultra=15 mb/s
Extreme=30 mb/s
So it's all about speed.
@apallohadas: they have different model number, one is SDSDQY-016G-E11M and one is SDSDQ-016G-FFP. And I suspect that just a card reader will make that difference in price.
@joooe: but they're both class 2?
I've tried several different class cards in my HD2, and regardless of advertised 'class' r/w speeds only changed noticeably if I took it out of my phone and used a card reader or adapter like shown in the "ultra" listing you have.

Hello apallohadas
can you confirm or any one without any doubt that there is no difference in R/W speed between class 2 or class 4 or class 6 inside HD2 with Windows 6.5 or Android
thanks

I don't have Winmo installed on my phone anymore, so I can't rerun that test and I didn't keep the numbers last time that I did it.
But if you'd like to try testing cards yourself, I used a program called H2test and a card adapter. My Class 2 Sandisk 32GB card gave numbers comparable to a class 6 Transcend 16GB.
Inside of the HD2 however, while on Android the tests take too long (setting read/write file sizes of 1GB+.) I've read in several places that the hardware limits performance as though they were all class 2 cards.
There are reviews where a class 4 card is superior to a class 6 card.
Sandisk cards are just great.
In the sandisk website there is no info about the class of both cards. Don't believe they have the same class.

thank you apallohadas for replay
I think so, hardware limitation to Class 2 with HD2 although I read in several places that there is more performance with Class 6 or 10 card in Android especially SD Android
I have Sandisk 16G class 2 and want to upgrade to 32G and I don't want to wast my money in useless class 6 or 10 with my EU HD2,
any one use Sandisk class2 then upgrade to class4 or 6 with EU HD2 and get faster performance in read and write inside HD2 not as disk drive ??
thanks
hi guys, my hd7 currently only have 8gb inside. planning to upgrade to 16 or 32gb. but i notice that our hd7 only compatible card. i've done my research on hd7 forum, this is what i came up with. need some one to verify it.
my question is:
1. basically what class do i need to look for? it is either class 4 or 2?
2. notice that stock memory card named "Sandisk MicroSDHC". Does it need to be HC? at my local higher capacity card seem to be running out. only 4gb are available.
3. and can i use another brand. i know some already used other brand. but do kingston work?
if u have upgraded ur hd7 memory. do also let me know the brand, capacity and class speed.
i think it might be good for our forum to compile all compatible microsd into a thread.

Almost all newly manufactured SDHC cards will now work with the HD7.
I would recommend a higher quality brand like , SanDisk, PNY or Kingston... These are less likely to have poor Read/Write speeds and you shouldn't have any problems with it being a faulty SD card in the device.
Use a class 4, 6 or 10 SD card. The Read/Write speeds on the higher class cards are generally faster. Which equals faster loading, transition and less lag on the device.
The HC stands for "High Capacity" and yes I would stay with the SDHC card and they make 8, 16 and 32gb cards that will work with the HD7.
If your devices bootloader version is 5.12 then it will support the 64gb class 10 micro SDXC cards.
I'm using a 32gb class 4 micro SDHC card in my HD7 with a bootloader version of 3.xxx and it has worked perfectly in 2 different HD7's now.
thanks for the confirmation! sandisk usually run out pretty fast. but there alot of kingston at my local store. i know a place sell class 6 16gb and class 10 32gb microsdhc. so i'll give em a try. as for my bootloader version, yes it at 5.12. but planning to downgrade it using the y-cable method after the memory upgrade. so l'll stick with microsdhc.
how long does the initial start up take? after the restore process completed.. cus i had install mine, sandisk 16gb class 4, and currently its still on the htc logo waiting to start up. on the bootloader, the mmc info has been updated. or the card is bad?
Edit:
Seem the card is not compatible to my hd7. if i remove the card, it will switch on after restore process complete.

After you insert the new SD card, make sure you perform a hard reset to integrate the SD card into the system first.
ok i got my hd7 up n running for weeks now. I used 16gb class 4 sandisk.
a buddy of mine also using hd7 8gb. So he ask me to do the same thing to his hd7. Weirdly his phone wont boot up with the same memory card i bought. Does mango update make a difference?

I have been using that exact Lexar card you referenced for several months. I used it first in a Galaxy S3, and then moved it over to the Note 2.
I have not had any issues nor corruptions, and have been very pleased with it.
I would buy it again without question!
please of anyone tested both cards tell me

about sandisk's bad reviews - a while back they had an ultrabad batch of cards that failed pretty consistently and they gained a bad rap for it - apparently they're better / fixed now, but fwiw, i've had every brand fail on me (literally; patriot, lexar, sandisk etc) but I might be the exception to the usage details as I'm swapping machines all day
My last card was a Lexar 32 c10 and it worked perfectly for over a year. It's now in my wife's G3. I've been using a Sandisk 64 c10 for the last few months and it's also working flawlessly. I think you're fine with either one.
i got the Sandisk 32 class 10
that is the first step to do to start using it now ?
format on computer or plug it to the phone directly ?

You could simply plug it in to the phone (while it's off of course) and format the card within the phone as well
