Hello,
Where did I go wrong :
On a stock LC1 Galaxy Note
1-downloaded a rooted LC1 roms with Odin
2-flashed a zimage file with ChainFire's InitialRootFlasher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784)
then in CWM :
3-flashed Abyss recovery
4-reboot in recovery mode
5-wipe data, cache dalvik
6-flashed Kingdroid 3.0 (without S3 pack)
7-reboot
I've lost root :
I can't flash anymore anything under recovey (stuck at "installing")
SuperSU install fails (Root Checker says I'm rooted)
What should I do ?
Start again from step 1... ?
And how not to loose root ?
Thanks.
u can use cwm method to root again
if it helps hit thanks button

1. after rooting ur wont lose any data
2 &3. just install any custom kernel via odin in order to have CWM or use the uploaded to fix the 3 button issue (flash via odin with phone boatloader ticked)
4. pull out the battery to exit download mode
pm if u need more help
cheers
i forgot to mention that i have:
model: gt-i9000
firmware version: 2.3.4
baseband: I9000XXJVP
kernel version: [email protected]#2
build number GINGERBREAD.XXJVP
if this helps to be more specific in how to do what i have mentioned in the previous post.
I would recommend the SpeedMod kernel that works very well for 2.3.4 roms. Then from CWM you can root your phone, and apply lagfix.
Edit: If you want a more detailed guide you can find it here
so if i install SpeedMod kernel i will have cwm installed or what? because i read that i have to be rooted to install cwm and i have to have cwm to root . i need some help with those steps... what is the first thing i need to do? just put in order the links to the threads i need to follow . please

You need first to install SpeedMod via Odin, then go to recovery and in the SpeedMod menu there is all you need to root and convert filesystem to EXT4 (thats the lagfix).
I edited my other post with a guide & FAQ made by the author, all you need to know to flash via odin or lagfix is there
mine is on JVQ and with speedmod kernel, its really great right now
yeay! rooted and lagfix and kernel installed. thanks!
but i still can't inter recovery mode or download mode using key combination. how to flash that file using odin? could you post a screenshot please?
one question, a little off-topic: it said that SpeedMod has neldar's BackLightNotification 2.3... where can i find/activate or how to use it?
this sure is a difference from my old Moto Dext/Cliq.
by the way has anyone experienced problems with the wifi connection? i can't get the ip address from a wifi router that i could connect before i flashed the kernel...

Hi guys i have a new problem... i flashed speedmod i went to speedmod options selected root: superuser+busybox, then applied lagfix (ext4) but it seems i don't have total root access i mean it doesn't install busybox or titanium backup, i can't mount system to r/w... what is going on? could you guys help please

download a stock firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/gt-n7000-galaxy-note/ and unzip it in sd card in firmware folder
then flash using cwm using the option flash stock from sd card
then when asked about continuing and lossing root just continue
and after flashing u have a no root and cwm removed and everything as good as new
*it wont reset your settings and data*
Once you flash with KL8, you will lose Root + CWM
now this thread(you have shown) updated with install guide

Download any of the directly rootable rom or the latest one as you prefer from this link and install through PC odin. Instructions given for flashing and rooting too !
link- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Hit thanks if it helped
Edit : Also you can try to reflash the rocket rom after clearing the caches and formating/wiping the data again. After flashing again format wipe data and caches. It should work.
For recovery try flashing the cf root kernel by chainfire (its included in the rom....but just in case u require it to get back recovery if its not coming). either search for it or get it here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23787604&postcount=12

Hi,
I am trying to search a tread where i can find the way to instal cwm recovery on galaxy note n7000 v4.0.4 without flashing kernal.
Every where it is suggested to install safe kernal but i dont want to do that.
i have rooted my phone using latest method mentioned below.
Now i want to install CWM recovery so that i can install cm9 or 10 or other ROMs. Kindly Suggest a way
"Rooting with stock recovery - Thanx to Entropy who direct this way,as well always looking for safety measures for us, Chainfire for creating great tool SuperSu (and many more), Phil3759 as files, scripts derived from his Thread and Linus Yang for Busybox.
- Download Root_SuperSu 0.94
-Copy downloaded file to Ext SD card.
-Reboot into recovery (vol up+Home+power)
-Select install zip from ext SD card
-select 'root_SuperSU-*.zip' which you have copied to Ext card above
-Reboot device
-You can see superSU on appl drawer. open it and update.
-Now This will give you only SuperSU not busybox, though application which doesn't depends on system busybox will still works.e.g.Titanium Backup.
-To get full Root+busybox, Download Root_busybox *
-Copy Root_busybox* only to Ext SD card
-Reboot into recovery, Select Install zip from Ext SD card. select Root_busybox* .zip and Flash.
-Done !"

No you can't get standalone recovery/CWM that way. another thing, you want to flash CM9 on stock ICS that is dangerous, it can brick your device.
Safest way is flash prerooted GB ROM(one on my signature) and use CWM (U will get along with prerooted ROM) to install CM based ROM.

Hi
I updated CWM to 6.??? to try a KitKat ROM but I want to go back to a Gingerbread one. I don't know how to downgrade the CWM to 5. When I try and install a CWM 5 zip file via CWM it gives me lots of errors.
Is it possible to downgrade the CWM?

You can either flash stock rom via odin on comp and reroot, or download and install mobile odin ported to our device. And then flash the odin flashable cwm.tar file through mobile odin.

You cannot downgrade from android 4.x to android 2.x. That's because 4.0.4 and higher roms have a different bootloader. So don't try to flash gingerbread over kitkat, but if you tried and your phone didn't bricked let me know!!!

I know well what CWM stand for and what it is. I know he was asking how to downgrade from CWM 6 to CWM 5 but he was asking also for a downgrade from KitKat to Gingerbread. I just said that it could brick the phone.
For the CWM downgrade you must:
1) reboot in recovery mode
2) install the latest PX recovery for galaxy ace
3) reboot recovery
4) install CWM5
5) reboot recovery
6) done!

Actually downgrading from KitKat to Gingerbread will not brick the phone as long as you flash it through odin. Then again flashing any Gingerbread custom rom will not brick your phone as they are made to work only on CWM5. Hence flashing Gingerbread custom rom through CWM6 will only give you errors. Its always safe to install Gingerbread stock rom using odin. Here is the link on how to install stock rom using odin along with all firmwares and drivers (check "Preparations" section),
Flash stock rom on Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 using odin/
Once installed, go to recoverymod and do a wipe data/ factory reset & wipe cache (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace,
How To Root and Unroot Samsung Galaxy Ace?

Also if you still want to use KitKat, then you can use the KitKat version flashable through CWM5 by @Salim El Yabouri. Here is the link,

Hope I Helped

But I recommend 5.0.2.6 as it can flash almost all zips without any problem whatsoever.

About your remarks:
1. cwm 6.0.4.8/philz edition did not work. a) it has mount problems; b) it prevented android 2.3.5 from booting.
2. You, before editing, said recovery is independent of the rom on the phone. If this is the case, then why all cwm 6 versions are in trouble with /system on my phone? and why mardon said that won't work with stock rom?

Cwm 6 or 5 cannot mount /system /data or /cache bcoz cwm cannot handle samsung's filesystem rfs used in galaxy ace. This problem has no solution except changing to custom rom or using cfroot kernel which has ability to change fs type to ext4.also it is quite better than stock kernel. Proceed with caution. Also i think you need android 2.3.6 for cf root kernel. You can download official android 2.3.6 from sammobile.com and cf root kernel for s5830
from Google. Also do try cwm 5.0.2.6 once it can work.
And btw flashing 2.3.6 will wipe data cache root everything.
If you choose to flash 2.3.6, try cf auto root kernel. Cm roms use ext4 by default with quite better kernels.
