When you open smar flash and put the files in you remove batery from phone and conect phone via usb and press vol down and hold. Then it will say software upgrade. You dont have to turn the phone on. Watch the clip on youtube everything is explaned very good.

With Smartflash you don't turn phone on. You just plug USB cable while pressing volume down and battery pulled out. If that doesn't work it means hardware issue so back to consumer service.

yeah, the same with NVFlash.

Hello guys. My phone won't turn on, at all. Just black screen. I tried two different batteries, I tried to connect it to pc (I can't see s/w upgrade mode, so I can't reflash it), nothing happening. I was running CyanogenMod7 RC, and I just turned off my phone (holding power button, and selected power off). Please help.
Sorry to hear that but you know it happened the same thing to me. Using it at midnight, turning it off and charging and 10 hours later it couldn't react to anything. I sent it to repair and 3 weeks later LG sent it back : they say that motherboard was dead and they change it.

Really? Damn. My phone was rooted, and I am not sure do I still have warranthy. How much will it cost in the service center to repair it?
Hum... it cost me nothing (since the phone couldn't turn on they couldn't see that the phone was not with stock rom lol) because it was on warranty. But the 3 weeks waiting was toooo long lol.
EDIT : But try again to turn in on, I tried everything during more than a day, to be sure. ;-)

So is this really motherboard? Cuz I didn't do anything, just turned it off. Damn you LG.

I already tried; No luck. It just look like a piece of metal, no reaction at all. I tried two different batteries, but as far as I remember P970 can work even without batteries when it's connected to the charger.
Yeah I didn't understand why mine died also. Just charging after turning it off. But this new one seems to not have any problem... for now. What really pissed me off were the 3 weeks waiting for it. I hope you'll don't have to wait that long.

And yeah BTW I don't know if this matter, but I did partiotion from Recovery Menu, and used swapper before this happened.
Ok, now I know what the problem was. It's all swapper 2 fault. Somehow it managed to destroy boot sector. Oh well, it's also my fault, shoud've do appropriete reading before using this app. And why did I even need SWAP in the first place? Hello service center...
hi i would like to know how i can fully brick my o4x so i can send it back for a replacement.i have had this phone for less than 2 weeks and have had nothing but trouble with it.it keeps randomly rebooting sometimes up to 10 times a day i have tried everything to sort it out but to no avail.I know that if i send it back as it is if it does not reboot on them they will just send it back saying there is nothing wrong with it.any help would be greatly appreciated

Doesn't work! I tried to brick mine in all possible ways I could imagine, and the far that I get was a screen with the LG symbol and under "error!!! Check morning call". I never lost the access to ARS...

Ask kholk, he seems to have done it.
if its under a month old, you can take it back to where you brought it for a new one, they cant refuse under a month
This is how i bricked mine abut didnt get a new one. only got it fixed : put it under my pillow before going to sleep. woke up the next morning to surf the internet, and the screen was black, and the phone was hot as fire sent it back to get it fixed, and it showed that the head card was replaced, so they didnt find out that it was rooted ether
Hi,
i got my Xperia Z yesterday and already have a problem. Yesterday in the evening i listened to some audible content. I didn´t turn off the app, because it goes in sleep mode after finishing the downloaded part. I had stamina mode active. Today my phone doesn´t react. It is off the screen is dark. I can push the powerbutton how i want, the phone doesn´t react. I tried to recharge it, because i thought the battery was completly empty, but i don´t even have the led active which is normally active when you plug in your phone.
Does anybody have had the same issues? And can give me a hint what to do? Otherwise i will have to change the device tomorrow. It´s my first sony, so perhaps there is a trick with it i don´t know.
Take it back.

Hardware reset combination...similar to a battery pull for devices with user changeable batteries.

Can some1 check temps?
Might be a safe mode of sorts due to overheating?
Sounds like this is a common issue on the forums.
i don´t think its because of overheating. Today it was two times in sleepmode for a bit longer, and after both i had to restart it with the method mentioned above. I think it is a software failure. Maybe something with the staminamode. I will switch the staminamode off and wait if it happens again.

I imagine a small firmware update will fix this. Be sure to report it to Sony every single time it happens.
Yes, i will do that. Bsides this bug, i´m very satisfied with the experia z, even with the battery life.

You don't have choice if the phone freezes
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Ever since they introduced non-removable batteries with XS ( and I still have a bone to pick with Sony regarding that choice ), they introduced a hardwired phone reset/shut down combination that is accessed via volume up+power button, that apparently by the sound of this thread, still functions the same as it did with S.
I've had my Xperia S freeze in middle of something ( can't remember what ) after it went to standby mode, and the only way to fix it is either to wait for your battery to die, or to manually reset the phone via volume up+power button combo.
It's safe to perform as much as you'd like, it just resets the phone or shuts it down, depending on how long you keep it pressed. It saved my Xperia S from water damage on one occassion, although I guess I won't have that problem with Z.
The same thing happens with my nexus 4.. Its somewhat related to hardware I guess. Cos xperia z and nexus 4 are very simpilar in case of hardware. around 10% people are facing such problems on nexus 4. Its a hardware problem I guess..

the thing is you battery is empty
just connect the charger for 10 min then then use for shutdown (volume up + power )
then after some time your phone will start to boot normally

Have you tried the reset button, besides the SIM&SDCard slots?
Clicking it will shake the mobile once and reset, doing a 5 seconds long press it will maybe perhaps shake it thrice and have a nice ultra mega plus blaster reset. :cyclops:

khamees_xi, is your phone under warranty still?
Sounds like a dead battery, had a similair thing with my Xperia S, it was covered under warranty
And keep in mind if it's not covered under warranty it still won't be a expensive repair if it's battery related compared to a display replacement(nightmare).

its not your last hope,
you still have the DIY option:
open the back plate (see the Xperia Z Screen Replacement video in youtube on how to, just need the initial 3 steps),
try to disconnect the battery flex cable, then plug the usb cable to pc, if it enters fastboot, then battery is not flat, ITS DEAD.
order a replacement battery and order the Xperia Z Waterproof adhessive.
FIRST TRY TO GET WARRANTY xD its way better!!
I had this problem already, about 1 weeks ago. Same condition that you are describe before.
I just use my PC companion and then the problem fixed :victory:

hahaha I told ya I tried every possible solutions but all of them failed
@wwaleed.. it happened for me a time ago in Xperia S ,and it's fixed by a silly answer found in forumforpages.com
first.. remove your SIM Card and then plug in the charger and once the red light appears ,disconnect it and do the same for 5-6 times continuously ,and the 7th plug it in and leave it for 5-10 minutes.. if the LED color changed to green/blue (whatever) ,try holding the power button to boot the phone.
i know it feels silly.. but it worked for me after update failure ,just give it a try before sending it to warranty
