Flashing REMICS over Slim ICS - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone
I have one (simple) question: How to Change from Slim ICS 4.0 to RemICS 1.2
I have a little experience in flashing and ROMS, maybe a wipe cache / dalvik cache before flashing would do it ?
I have actually a GT-I9000 with Slim ICS 4.0
Any guide is welcome, I have searched the forum but was not able to get a clear answer
Thanks in advance

Just flash over it I think do a cache and dalvik wipe to be sure but it should be a simple upgrade so to speak

Hi
First, I want to thank you for clicking the link I provided
I can actually read a step by step guide (How could I get into Slim ICS if I wasn't )
My question was targeted to hilight any ancompatibility of this ROM with the base of Slim ICS as for example, before going from a stock Rom to this one, I needed a CM7 based rom
RemICS is saying it is a CM9 ROM
Slim ICS is "fully built from AOSP sources with some cherry picks from CM and AOKP team" according to its author
So I thought there may be a need to flash a CM9 rom before and in this case, which one is the more suitable ?
And what about the modem ? (I have now a cm7 XXJVT)
Nevertheless, thanks for taking some precious seconds to type some precious words (...)

Firstly, incase other people read this, slim needs a cm9 base.
Directly after installation instructions at remics it says it is a CM9 based ROM.
Further to that, it is advisable to post these questions in the ROM thread as you are far more likely to get a clear concise answer

I've tried them both and even though Slim has some nice features I'd go with cm9 nightlies because it's an easier to use software straight out of the box in my opinion. And right now they're updating them every couple days that I found stability to be fantastic already, not to mention the great battery life.
Yeah i thing slim 3.3 is goox too but there to many ICS roms.

On my personal experience, where in i have used Teamhacksung, CM9, Onecosmics and now iam on Elite ICS 10.1.
The best is Elite "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575683"
with Midnight Hugemem kernel (BM Kernel MNICS-143LR),
which is provided with the rom in the "Actualizador" app the ROM provides,
plus flash this script "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24723427&postcount=513" for getting the 720p recording to work.
Trust me, really good combination of ROM and Kernel, Very smooth and stable.
And About Slim, it lacks many things, which if u used any other ICS rom yu would know, and CM( is very unstable as for now, but sometime later is gonna be the best one for sure.
Try AOKP official. It's nice.

Yes aokp official best one.

ICS 4.0.4
After 5-6 trys of ICS Roms I found the best one for me.
It is "ICS EXTRAordinary 9/4/2012"

[Q] whats the most stable rom now available for P1000

i just rooted my sister's galaxy tab gt-p1000 which is in gingerbread in ages now... being so frustrated she decided to let me root t and install a custom rom, rooting done now my next step is to put a good, smooth, versatile rom into the tab,.. i see some jellybean ,ics roms in the developement and frankly i dont know which one is best. nobody likes ramdom FC's so i hope i can find a rom that is stable too.
query: i was wondering if i flashed the CM9 ics for p1tab. do i just flash straight from gingerbread to cm9 ics? where can i get the gapps too?
You know xda doesn't allow "best rom" question.
You try out the roms and make your own decision.
About flashing ics, you need cwm recovery.
Gapps here
http://goo.im/gapps
Cm9 is ics.
Cm10 is jb.
Grab the right version.

cool... definitly gonna try that one out... what makes this your favorite rom considering its stable?
is this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523174
Sorry but I've closed this thread as has already been said, best/most stable ROM threads have no place on the forums as it's so subjective to opinion. Lots of people have different opinions and also just because a ROM is stable on one device it may not be on another as devices don't react the same.
As suggested try them out for yourself and find the one that's best for YOU as that's what matters
Thanks

Cassie's xtralite room. Most stable, most speed, less bugs, best deep sleep despite being a gb rom.
after flashing many original development roms, I'm back to xtralite rom and I'm not planning to flash another for quite awhile.
it's not the latest and greatest but hey, you asked. Peace out.
Alliance Rom! You just need to go into Android Develeopement thread and see which is the most popular one
I was on Alliance ICS Final for a long time and this is the most stable and absoultely smoothest rom , but it is ICS, you may try if you like...
Now I am switched to Alliance XXLSC, requires the installation of some fix over the Rom customizer, but worth the effort. I just installed 240dpi mod and a few others with nova launcher and it is amazing... contains everything you requested in your first post
EDIT: you know that the stock ICS kernel is not safe for wiping? be sure that first thing you need to do is flash a safe kernel if you are on ICS (from stock recovery it is best to flash PhilZ kernel first, then you can continue to rock )
the best is Stock official rom preinstalled on your NOTE.

Use the stock XXLSC from the android dev section. then flash the mods you want

oh...if this rom is what you want, you should buy a Note 2 instead of flashing a jellybean daily driver for Note 1. I'll be flashing a multiview rom soon but I don't expect to be on it for very long.
stability is what I want too.

Fastest is up to you really.. You can make any JB ROM the fastest with mods.. Doesn't mean it will be stable or have the features you want though.
Like 4-2ndtwin said, try them. Also, go in their respective thread and read to see which one suits you the best.
As others mentioned in this thread, it's very subjective.

fresh flash, you'll need a few full battery cycles before it settles down.
Resetting your battery stats can help too.

CM 10.1 kernels

Hi
Is it okay to run a cm 10.1 kernel with rocketROM v4,i've been told that the cm 10.1 kernels have fixed the exynos exploit.

It's not ok because it won't work. Check chasmodo's thread for working combinations of Kernel and Android version.
If you want a JB based Rom (like XXLSA or C) you'll have to wait for an official release from Samsung with a fixed kernel.

Thanks for the response mate, much appreciated.
Can i ask you,is there any rom weather jb or ics based it doesn't matter, that has incorparated into it the exynos exploit fix.
Like i say i'm not fussed, any custom rom that has the fix would interest me.
So i can just flash it and i would be protected from the exynos exploit.
Once again, thanks for your help pal.

First you should look for a kernel with the fix (see MaxFu's kernel, in N4 he has fixed the problem) and then use this kernel in the Custom Rom (ICS) you like. For JB you'll have to wait for Samsung.
