hello everyone
I went thru hell to figure out which app is causing the random reboot on my samsung galaxy note with stock ICS when listening to music on my sony car stereo through bluetooth every 30 minutes
After I removed all apps and kept only Poweramp app I noticed that it is Poweramp that is causing this reboot every 30 minutes while listening to music on my sony stereo through bluetooth streaming.
So I removed Poweramp, and played music through the stock music player on my car stereo through bluetooth and guess what all reboots are gone.
Why is power amp causing this bug something is not sitting well with Poweramp, bluetooth and ics
phone: smasung galaxy note
android: stock ics 4.03
Poweramp 2.0.5-build-488 Full Version
i wish a dev could help in resolving this although this reboot also happens with stock non rooted ics rom.
Why don't you email your problem / concern / bug report directly to the PowerAmp dev and ask him/her to correct this problem?
You will probably get a faster response.

Pre FroYo I used to have a major issue where if I had a 3.5mm cable plugged in and it was jiggled slightly the current media or if none was playing, new media opened randomly on the phone, would just start skipping to the next song/track/etc. I've been using the froyo test rom since it was available and I have not had this issue occur even once. Anyone else notice this?
Hope this is fixed for everyone! The bug made using the N1 in my car almost impossible.
Also, you can download a 1 second silent mp3, and create a playlist with only that mp3. Play the playlist and exit the music player.
Then download meridian and use that. If the music player is launched somehow, it will play the 1 sec of silence and exit.

I had that bug in 2.1 and fixed it with the "Scotch tape on the plug" workaround. However, I've started seeing occasional skips again. I was attributing it to wear and tear on the tape, which is beginning to get a bit frayed, until I saw the thread about Pandora skipping now (that's where I see it), so I'm guessing from your report that it's a separate problem. I hope you're right about the fix for the plug jiggling and that an upcoming update to Froyo and/or Pandora will address that skipping, as well.
I had this aswell, but only with the stock music player. I switched to ³(cubed) and it had an option to disable the next, play pause buttons on the stock headset. I didnt use stock headset so i didnt need it. But after that i never had any problems, not even on 2.1.

I never had this problem once using stock for the last 3 months. I use the wired headset multiple times a day. First day on cyanogen and now I have this issue. Stock ROM was perfect.
Also cyanogen is giving me much worse battery life.

Still have the issue with Froyo. Doesn't seem anywhere as bad as it was with 2.1 though. Purely observational test however and in no way conclusive/scientific
I am running vibranturk's port of ics 4.0.3 AOKP Build 23, and am having issues with paying music. First, the fact that the music apk fc's every time is a non issue as I am using winamp. Where the issue is is playing with the screen locked makes the music clip after about 30 seconds. I have disabled any dsp manager effects and it still does it. I have had success with turning off winamp's equalizer, but would really rather not (so sue me, I like good audio). For the moment I will live with the flat music, but would LOVE a solution to this which let's me use the equalizer.
My 2 cents: it seems like it is a memory issue as the clipping gets progressively worse and the bpm goes down as time goes on. This does not happen when the screen is on, making me think that the system is putting winamp on a lower priority memory class and is having its memory dumped sooner.

I believe you're on the right track. If I remember correctly, a lot (if not all) of the ICS roms drop the phone's processor to a low speed when the screen is off.
You may want to give the Icy Glitch kernel a spin - I use that one, and music playback hasn't been an issue when I've had the screen off.
Thanks for the tip! I was thinking of trying the icy glitch anyways, now it seems I have a good reason to .
I'll report back on my results.
WOO!
It worked!
Thanks!
I saw similar threads like 2 years ago, but none of the solutions helped me so I decided to create new one.
Here is my situation.
When I play music (flac, mp3, ogg, whatever...) every some time (3,4,5 minutes) music stops for a fraction of a second.
Maybe it's nothing but it's irritating.
I eventually found what is responsible. Its GPS receiver. When I turn it off, everything is ok. I could live with that, but... I often listen to music, and use GPS at the same time so it would be nice to get it working together. Is there any chance to fight this issue?
my environment:
ROM: slimICS
Kernel: Devil (but also tried semaphore and mnics and that changed nothing).
Player: PoerAmp + VoodooSound (but also tried stock player, with and without voodoo and problem persists).
I also tried different governors: smartass, ondemand, conservative.
I tried to set Min CPU freq to 200 MHz. Still nothing.
Only solution is to turn off GPS.
What do you think?

GPS receiver by itself is an odd cause for music skipping. I think the problem is with a background app you are using (which probably relies on the GPS). I too use my phone on CM9 for music with poweramp, but rarely hear music stopping or skipping.
I've had this problem with CodenameAndroid
I'm not sure but it seems to only happen when my screen is off
possibly when the phone is trying to deep sleep
in my case it also happens when the screen is on, and I do not use deep idle.
I'll investigate it in detail. Will do new installation, so I will try to restore apps one by one. It can take a little time.
APP - power amp, has a setting to increase the Audio buffer size (settings>audio engine>audio buffer size). Change from Auto to Large(+250ms).. this fixed the problem for me.
Other music apps may have this option
dlockhart, I use poweramp, and changing buffer size didn't help.
I will investigate further. Clear rom, so far even with gps on everything is ok.
It's a longshot, but is this only when you have a jack plugged, or also when playing from the phone speaker? A faulty jack or it not being properly plugged has actually caused something similar for me.

anything new in here? just have the same problem, but different phone. should be an software issue.
Poweramp worked!

Yeah this worked for me too on Desire Z (I know, wrong forum but having identical issues on ICS). You can also disable the media controls on the headset that seem to mess it up too! No more skipping, thanks for the tip!
i'm having this problem right now
I had it to. Try jellybean. Because of vsync (project butter) the cpu and gpu animate the screen instead of just cpu, cpu now has more time to handle everything else. My music has yet to skip on jellybean. Working really good.
Is this Error in jelly bean as well ?

Hello everyone
Bought my Xperia T on white about two weeks ago. It's a really awesome phone, don't have anything to complain about. Good battery, nice UI, etc.
Updated it in the first day to 4.1.
However, I've got 2 weird audio bugs:
1. No matter what music player I have, music occasionaly skips a few seconds. I tried:
-other music players
-re-inserting my 32GB microSD card back.
Nada, the bug is still there.
Gotta mention something: I don not use any equalizer presets or ClearSound/Bass/Whatever music effect Sony gives me. I find them all rubbish.
2. I occasionally have issues when I pull my headphones out... I am used to Android phones, and I know there are separate volumes (I had a Galaxy Spica and a Moto Defy+) but this one has a really weird behavior. It sometimes doesn't "understand" that the headphones are out. But that can be solved easily, by re-inserting the headphones. Lately, for some reason, it didn't happen too much. I don't know, I have a pair of small in-ear Sennheiser headphones, not Sony ones...
3. How can I properly give album art to my music? Media Go tried something, but didn't do much... should I try via Wi-Fi? I've got about 2055 songs. Should it take a while?
Many, many thanks.
Poweramp->settings->audio->advanced tweaks->audio buffer size / audio thread priority. Have you tried changing those?
Hy, for me when i use my beats by dre headphone in Bluetooth with the maximum sound, the sound is low. I did to make a "begin of call" the sound level Bluetooth go up like in ICS. After a few minutes if i stop the music, the sound is low another time.
Any idee?

Something similar happens to me sometimes where the music will just stop playing only to resume a few seconds later for like no reason (no incoming calls or anything). Sometimes it will stop playing at the Walkman icon in the status bar disappears so I have to go back to Walkman app and start the song over. Not really sure why it does this. Haven't had any issues with 4.2.1 yet though, seemed to be an ICS issue for me at least. I noticed my Xperia ion did the same thing but it was much worse with the ion. My roommate has the ion and just updated to ICS and told me it happens to her still even post update.
For the record I have the AT&T Xperia TL and a 32GB SD card with 95% of my music on the card.

Seems that PowerAmp works really well, however been wondering if there's a free alternative out there.

Not any good...
Hey guys,
Love my new S6, because of memory limitations, I'm using spotify more than the music player. I noticed that when I listen to music, the volume keeps changing by itself (but remains at the same "number" that I set), I believe it's an EQ problem due to the voice/instrument equalizer function that keeps adjusting one VS the other. I was able to downgrade the amazon appstore still has version 2.6.0.813 and it's better (but not perfect yet, I hope they fix this bug in the next spotify update, just wanted to share in case you though you were going crazy (as I did).

Solution
Just found the solution, please close topic

Disabling Nuplayer does not work
solution from the previous post does not work, I and others tested it and spotify volume is still messed up with Nuplayer disabled, downgrading seems to be the only solution as of now, sorry for the confusion

actually, I've noticed this problem with Google Play music as well.. I'm not using the equalizer.. for no apparent reason, at some points in certain songs, the volume will inexplicably lower, never quite recovering.. weird
same here. thought i was going deaf bc i had the volume up to 80%
Is it happening with your stock music player? I disabled Nuplayer and spotify is still misbehaving but the Samsung player works fine. I didn't find a Samsung user forum to report the problem but will look more into it.
old version works
Using S6 Edge, had this problem myself with spotify - can confirm using the previous version of spotify fixes the problem.
Agree there's points where it stoll changes volume ever so slightly but definatley a big improvement.
Can't post link to download due to new user restrictions.
Thanks to OP for posting his findings. Big help.
Peace.
I have been going back and forth with Spotify support for weeks on this issue, and it's been escalated to a Tier 2 person who I've been working with for almost a week now. Specifically, my problem is that the sound on any given song will vary throughout the song...it will start at whatever volume I have it set at, then suddenly get about 25% quieter for about 10-20 seconds, then go back up to original volume. This happens in almost a cyclical fashion my entire time listening to Spotify on my phone...whether it be through headphones, phone speak, or a bluetooth speaker. Spotify support even gave me another test account to try, which this issue also happen in on my phone....and they logged into my account on their end and done extensive listening tests, but are not able to replicate on their end. They had me try everything...clearing cache, trying with volume normalization ON, then trying with it OFF, WiFi only, data only, listening to cached music with no data turned on, re-installing, rebooting, updating, deleting all Spotify files/folders from the file manager, listening with corded headphones, bluetooth headphones, phone speaker, bluetooth speaker, etc. They really feel at this point that it's the Samsung Galaxy S6 that doesnt play nicely with Spotify, but they cannot figure out why. I'm still troubleshooting with them but so far no solution, only a ton of things ruled out as culprits. =(
This is a few days old but do you have sound alive enabled?
