Hello everybody!
I have some questions about the two ROMs named in the title.
Because I am a new member I am not allowed to post in the development threads of these ROMs and because I can't find anything to solve my problems I decided to start a new thread.
These are my issues:
Edit:
Mh, I have a new problem additional to the three below:
I set a mp3-file as ringtone. But the phone seems to "forget" this from time to time and when somebody calls me there is no ringtone at all. Same thing happens with a ringtone set for a specific contact.
Any ideas what could cause that?
SOLVED: FC/Reboot on BlazR RC-8.2-ICS
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28049137&postcount=826
I've installed BlazR RC-8.2-ICS on my Samsung Galaxy S Plus and everything worked fine. I wiped the Dalvik cache and formatted /system, /cache and /data (as I always do before installing a new ROM. Source:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1578821 First Post: "6. How to format").
Then I installed the zip from sdcard, booted my phone and wanted to download Titanium Backup from the Google Play Store.
After downloading the app, it said "Installing..." and after a while the screen turned black, it played the boot sound and then wifi and mobile network were down and it scanned the SD-card for mediafiles. This happens everytime when I want to install an app from the Google Play Store.
I rebooted the phone several times and tried other apps, but nothing works.
Are there any solutions for this problem?
SOLVED: Download-Issue with Simplistic Light V3B2
Download unavailable at the moment
I've tried to download this ROM like 10 times, but every time the file is just 163.339 KB and WinRAR says "Unexpected end of archive". All other downloads are fine. Is the uploaded file broken or is it something else?
SOLVED: Strange behavior in Simplistic Plus Final 2.0
I reflashed the ROM. Atm, it seems to work. But I still can not set a mp3-file as ringtone. After 12-24h the phone forget this setting and then there is no ringtone at all.
At the moment (actually for months) I use the Simplistic Plus ROM but suddenly something seems to be broken.
From time to time there is no lockscreen after turning the screen on. The phone seems to be awake all the time and generates a massive battery drain. Also the Reboot-Shutdown-menu (hold the On/Off-button) does not come up. Instead the screen turns off and nothing happens.
I didn't change anything in the settings, I removed all new apps but it still happens.
Have anyone the same experience or even a solution for this problem?

Opened home switcher app. Set homeswitcher to ‘Launcher’
Checked camera. Pressed home key and phone went back to original setup wizard screen, the one you see when you wipe your phone. I continued to press next to get through the sequence. Home screen switched back to ‘TwLauncher’ appeared to be the only change.
Pressed home button. Ticked box to set default. Selected ‘Launcher’
Tested camera again. I pressed the home key to get out of the app and the home switcher option came up again. Once again, selected to tick box to set the action as a default and picked ‘Launcher’.
Tested camera again. The home button properly went to the default this time.
The Places app does not launch.
Modified some settings inside Spare Parts app. Animation and wifi sleep policy.
Changed faster fix app to show China.
Opened Gmail app, rec’d ‘stopped unexpectedly’ message. Force close.
Tried to respond to an SMS message, rec’d ‘stopped unexpectedly’ message when I tapped the box to bring up the keyboard. Force close.
Opened Messaging app and tried again to respond to SMS message with same result.
Went to settings, modified input method to ‘Touch Input Chinese’, the device shutdown immediately.
Restarted phone. Unlocked screen and rec’d message ‘Process system is not responding’. It stayed there momentarily and then did a very quick reboot. I unlocked the screen and rec’d the same message.
I selected force close. The home screen was black with no wifi or phone service. Touching the applications button opened the list of app icons but the phone eventually the device did its very quick reboot.
I held the power button down for several seconds to force the device to turn off. I pressed the power button in hopes of it starting up normally… with the exception of having no phone service, it did seem to start normally.

Flashed stock ROM and returned to starting point noted at beginning of the post.
Please forgive the post above if you find it offensively long. I have spent the past week reading anything I can as it relates to Darky’s ROM and can’t find anything that seems to relate to the problems I am finding. Admittedly, I am a n00b and this is my very first experience with custom ROM in the android OS. (I made the switch from iOS a month or so ago where the game of JB and unlocks became to frustrating.)
I have installed Darky’s ROM many times over the past week and cannot get anywhere near what I consider a stable platform. Events such as ‘force close’ and system reboots are so frequent, surely that can’t be the norm. Is this to be expected?
From the description in the post above, have I done something wrong? It seems like the most frequent response and solution is to flash the ROM again. I have done that and never seem to get the same response.
I realize this is a custom ROM. I just don’t hear others mentioning the issues I have described so I am guessing they don’t exist for anyone else.
You should tell Darky .
Majority of helps posted on this forum are for Darky roms fact not fiction .

@jje Thanks for your advice. I will take this question over to Darky's forum. I was hoping that the larger pool of potential readers here would be able to offer some advice.

Possibly if you hang around a bit someone may come up with an answer .
Not an answer but you can build your own rom .

This is not an answer, but for me Darky's ROM v9.5 wasn't stable either. It just stopped working every few hours, just turned off my phone without notice etc.
I'm not sure what the problems was but I think there are some unresolved issues with v9.5.
After flashing stock JVK + darky10kernel + Darky's ROM v10.0 RC3, all my problems were gone tho and my phone has never been smoother. But v9.5.. I just don't know.

quite weird how so many people say 9.5 is good, and so many other people say 9.5 is bad
i upgraded to 9.5 from 9.2 about 4 hours ago and so far it seems fine
I did a no-wipe upgrade and am using dark core kernel 1.0 that came with the mod itself
not switching to 10.0 because it requires a wipe cant be bothered till 2.3 goes official
Try flashing kernel 1.2 darkcore
9.5 not rock solid, but not that bad either
I'm running 9.5 for a couple of days now, and although I ran into some minor problems, I cannot say it is that bad. It hang once, sometimes I have a small problem installing apps from the Market, but apart from that, it's OK. I think 9.3 had less problems, so if you want to go for a more stable Darky's ROM, go for 9.3. Or wait until 10 is official released.
Go through resurection
One more tip: I noticed you started from a non-Darky ROM. What you can do (and it's what I did) is install the Resurection edition of Darky's ROM. It's essentially the 9.2 version and you can flash it with Odin. After doing that, you can be sure to have a clean Darky environment. You can even see how that one works, I know a few colleagues who are still on 9.2 and fully happy with that. But if you want to upgrade, it's much easier from there. Just use Darky's configurator after you copied the ZIP file to you SD card. It's easy, and like I said, for me it is pretty stable!
Flash 9.3 first then flash over that with 9.5. I have used a lot of Darky's roms and never once had any major issues with them. 9.5 is a good rom

Told them out of the thousands at least one has a good user experience .

I want to go backwards (I am on 9.5 and battery life sucks).
How do I go from 9.5 to 9.4? Can I just download 9.4 and use the Darky's Rom Configurator and install it the same way I went from 9.4. to 9.5?
9.4 was deprecated due to heavy issues. The previous stable one is 9.3. You can install it with Darky's configurator, indeed.
Bugs will be fixed step by step ....
But I prefer Ultimate v8.2 with Tegrak Kernel ...
Hello I am quite worried about my phone.
After a little while with a new rom installed widgets will FC and stop working and some apps will disappear (and if on home screen you see default image and clicking it it says"Application not found") This usually (if not always) happens after the phone for some reason thinks it is the first time it has been switched on and goes through the initial setup (asking about language, setup accounts, wifi etc)
I first noticed this happen when I had darkys 9.3(i think maybe 9.somehting anyway) and when I replaced the sim all the above occoured. Reinstalling the apps didnt fix them and most apps FC.
Since then I have tried many roms and most seems to get this affect after some time. I was using some 2.3 roms and they were great but didnt have bln + very bad battery so they had to go. I'm currently on a romkitchen rom and it was fine for a while then after a restart it did the initial setup thing again and most things are broken again.
Anyone know anything about this?
Any suggestions on what I can try?
Thanks
Try killing the rom that caused the problems the usual supect once again .
Flash to stock Eclair via Odin with pit 512 and repartition checked .
If thats ok upgrade to Froyo .
jje
Ehh, that sounds a lot like the Internal SD issue. Try a stock 2.2.1 rom with a recent modem and see how that goes.
Can you suggest any roms/modems? I'm from UK if that makes a difference.
Btw the most recent rom was all the newest stuff from the rom kitchen. I feel like there is something that is not being wiped from my phone on a reflash even though I have installed different roms/modems/kernels. I have even deleted everything from my internal sd (the bit you can see when plugging phone into pc) The only thing I haven't wiped is my external sd, could something on that be the culprit?
Oh also as I installed this latest rom no gallery app was installed? I thought I might have just chosen the wrong option in the rom kitchen but does that mean anything?
EDIT - Could it be this RFS corruption issue?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848471
Should I follow these steps or is there a newer method?
Some Info:
First things first: This is not my primary tablet anymore so If I can't get it working that is okay.
Second: I am trying to fix it for my parents or to sell it.
Third: It is the Sprint CDMA Version.
Okay so the problem with the tablet is when I turn on the device after flashing anything (whether it be the stock Gingerbread Rom via Odin/Heimdall or Cyanogenmod/AOKP) it works fine for a couple of moments... I set it up.. I open a couple of apps... and suddenly every single app starts to force close!!
On Stock it shows some apps like Swype and on ICS roms it shows some acore process.
I really want to know how to unbrick this and I can't send it in cause my warranty ended in February.
I'm also having a similar problem.
But I can't flash any ROM.
Even if I copy the zip file to the tab memory, after I reboot it, the file disappears. It always goes to Italian language. Can't remove the google account or the hotmail account.
I have tried to reset to factory defaults, etc and still the same...
Any ideas?
What android version your tablet have ?

Stock Gingerbread but the problem started when I had AOKP on it.
I tried flashing back to stock yesterday and now it's in a boot loop on the second Samsung logo after the Sprint logo.
The things that crash are android.process.acore, all gapps, Swype on stock, and Google Play.
Hello guys
i have bad news for you...
if you can't do wipe(i mean, you do it nothing change)

Dang, custom Android ROMs are frustrating!
FINALLY got one loaded on my Samsung Exhibit II that DOES voice dial via BT. However, there are 2 problems with the phone so far.. 1.) can't mount external sdcard. Note: Card is good and formatted fine. I can attach phone to laptop via usb and read/transfer files to it successfully. 2.) Every time I add a new app to the phone it puts an icon for the app on my home screen (do not want that).
Any ideas on how I can fix these problems? Thanks.

For number 2, you need to go in to the play store settings and turn that setting off.
If you already did that and you are still getting icons on your home screen then you are probably using nova launcher. There is also a setting in nova launcher that you need to turn off.
Dont find settings

I don't find any such setting in Play Store. Don't find any related setting in Go Launcher that would do this either. Also, this just started recently and I have never made any changes to my Play Store account.

Hmm, cant help you with the first problem. I'm having the same issue, but on another rom. I would also like to figure this out.
For your second problem. Try going into Play Store settings and unchecking "Auto-add widgets".
Hope this helps.

Can you please recommend a better ROM that CAN voice dial via BT. Every time I use a custom ROM that is android 4.0 or higher, it cant voice dial. I have only had success with GB ROMS at 2.3.5 - 2.3.7
Thanks for any help you can lend.
Hello,
So far Holic's ROM seems to be the only one without in-call volume problems on my Vivid (Bell Canada) but there are two problems, one more annoying than the other
first, most annoying problem: after I install, the phone will upgrade to the latest apps like Hangouts. Everything works great, I can start hangouts and chat.
But after some time (5 to 10 minutes) of the phone just sitting there, or especially after a reboot, I will get the "google play services is not supported by your device" error. I have to remove update to google play store and resintall it, and then problem goes away temporarily and hangouts is usable again, and after the next reboot same problems reappear.
Does anyone have any fix for this?
second problem, less annoying:
On the phone dialer, there is a button at the bottom right which looks like a button for calling voicemail (has some funny symbols on it)
if I press this button I get error message "Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly". Does anyone else have this?
My phone is S-ON
I reinstalled the rom several times. I do the full system wipe before from recovery, flash the boot image, install rom with WCX recovery, re-flash the boot image from the SD card
same problem every time.

What Gapps are you installing? Have you tried different ones?
CM11 in call volume is pretty much gone since about the middle of January (if you read the thread, you'll see good feedback about it from about the 15th on). Only issue is sending/recieving MMS. Might want to give it another shot since this seem to be the only one getting worked on by the devs.

I'm not flashing any Gapps on this, the ROM already comes with them.
This is a ROM based on 4.0.3 ICS, not kitkat
I actually tried two versions of CM11, one was the latest unofficial nightly build from february 19, and the other was the albinoman release from january 15. both have the low volume problem.
I also tried the Borked ROM, based on 4.0.3, and it has the same low call volume problem, but no other issues like hangouts not working.
What GApps should I flash for a 4.0.3 based ROM?
You don't flash gapps on a stock based ROM ever
