(Q) Bada os? - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can we install Bada on ace?
Sent from Samsung Galaxy Ace

Why bada ? We have iOS6 and WP8 ready
Sent from Galaxy Ace which just landed on "MOON"

I'd almost like to have Bada. It looks nice, but the thing is, once it is on your phone, can you put android back on?

Theoritically cuz android bada use modified linux kernel, with some changes it can be done.Yes you can do a dual boot like in case of samsung jetdroid or wave II because secondary os has to be istalled on externa storage

Why the hell did you buy an Ace?

lol bro the troll festival is over ...RDRT has already left the thread ...u may leave as well

i saw galaxy wave has dual boot android + bada os on my friends phone; if you just press red key , bada boots up, otherwise if you press both red and green keys , android bootloader starts..
Just my thought; its possible with a hard working on it ( i like bada because of it's written native c if i'm not wrong and it slightly smooth than android)
By the way; motherfuc.king trolls just fu.ked ace community so gtfo as..holes

1. Are you sure that Bada works for ARMv6 ?
2. Are you sure that our drivers are open-sourced enough ?
3. How can you make sure Bada will work flawlessly ?
4. How will you make a dualboot kernel ?
5. NEVER say **** about my friends .

Our phone is run just on 800mhz factory overclocked armv6 phone. So,even if someone manages to do it,there is no guarantee it will work properly. So,first,we need to male a dual-boot kernel, then bada needs to be modified to make it work on our phone....Its ATLEAST a year's work.tom3q has been working on a dual-boot kernel for 3 months now,i think.Who do you think would take ALL this work just so that an OS like bada which is a new OS could work on Ace?

Does anybody know where the old single - triple vibrations when the app hangs went on 2.3? It protected phone from full hang and killed app, but now if any app hangs all you can do is reboot
What did you have before I9000?

Exactly.. But don't worry. They don't mess with screen or hardware parts.

I have been using this CRT-off animation with a ROM for a long time, Some CM7 port (from a time before CM7 was actually into nightly's with Cyanogen). It is cool the first time, maybe up to the second or third time, from there, well, you stop noticing it. It just gets boring, and you don't go by your friends with a sentence like: "hey, check how my phone goes to sleep... wow...". Well, I guess you can, but for me it was cool to see it once, then it got old

What do you want to know about the S3 Mini?

Hey guys, I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini... until tomorrow, I guess. What exactly would you like to know about it? I can make videos, take pictures... whatever
Give me some requests and tomorrow morning I hope to make some videos and whatever to answer your questions
Here's a picture of it compared to the S3 & Note 2.

Alex

NFC is market dependent. I am holding on to a 8gb Romania set. There is no NFC present.

Actually, it doesn't have an ambient light sensor...
The two dots seen at the left of the speaker grill are just the proximity sensor.

The features and menus seem to be identical - I don't have the S3, but I checked a couple of youtube videos detailing the camera interface and it seems to be the same. Yes, you can also change the icons around to your tastes.
Is the Galaxy S III mini's bootloader locked?
Are the sources published for S III mini?

Hi, what is the specification of processor U8420? What are the differences between U8420 and U8500?

The U8420 is just a custom 8500... I couldn't see any differences between the two in all I've read.
The U8420 packs two Cortex-A9 cores clocked at 1 GHz and a single-core Mali 400MP GPU.
Thx a lot.:good:
I still can't decide which one to choose: S III Mini or S Advance. What would you choose, and why?
I chose the S III Mini because it's newer (so I think it will get more official updates than the Advance), comes with Jelly Bean 4.1.1 already installed, has 1 Gb of RAM... and because I kinda like the design. Even if I'll probably install every custom ROM made for it, it's still good to have official updates - drivers for example are still closed source and there's only so much the future devs will be able to do without the proper drivers.
The S Advance on the other hand has less RAM (768 MB) and doesn't look as nifty. The only trouble is that I don't know how well supported the S III Mini will be (here on XDA I mean), since it's been a month since its release and still no quick root method available. The bottom line is: if you're not that into installing and testing out custom ROMs, kernels and other stuff like this, then don't worry and go ahead on the S III Mini. Else, look around, see what the guys on the S Advance threads are doing and make a more informed decision.
But, of course, if there's a big price difference then the Advance will be a better deal.
Thanks for the exhaustive answer. I'll take S III Mini.

Put your phone in USB Debugging mode and send this command via ADB:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Or, install Terminal Emulator on your phone and write:
Code:
reboot recovery
Please note that faria and brokenworm are to thank for these methods, they're the ones who posted them in the Rooting thread.

Seriously? Devs are not assigned.... They start developing on the device they have. What do you think? It's a paid thing? Read the XDA rules and manual again and again...

The short answer is, yes, but it won't be easy and it will take a long time to do so. I'm sure though it will be done because it will be quite a feather in their cap if a dev or team of devs could pull that off

From what I understand the phones processor base would have to be x86-x64 capable.
Could be incorrect, yet I'm sure a ported windows would need friendly hardware so it would depend on the device.
NVIDIA lists CPU and OS compatibility charts (too lazy to look em up)

Similarly, If only's and just's were candies and nuts, then everyday would be Erntedankfest!
Android bootloaders would have to be modified or over written to boot wp8. The moment we got it booting Microsoft would have a cease and desist order ready.

Odp: If wp8 whas open-cource, could it be ported to existing android phones?
It could be, for sure. It supports ARM processors, so with a lot (and I mean A LOT) of work, it could be even a daily driver. But because it is closed source, it would be illegal to run it on anything that was not running any Windows originally.
