[Q] Paranoid Rom Korean keyboard - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
I've installed the Paranoid rom and I love it!
Coming from iPhone the keyboard was always the problem. Simply wasn't smart enough.
But the keyboard that comes with the paranoid rom is amazing. Has spell checker and very smart auto correction.
But I have one problem with it. It doesn't have the Korean keyboard.
So I installed the Korean keyboard from the Google play but they keys are not displaying properly.
Any way to have Korean keyboard?
Thanks

Try different DPI for the keyboard. (Paranoid Settings > Hybrid Settings > List of apps)
I'm using Samsung Chinese IME for Nexus which also working fine in Note, and it is included Korean Keyboard. Maybe you have a try. Google "Samsung_IME_for_GN.zip". Flash it thru CWM. If you can't find it, send me your contact thru private message, I will send it to you.

Voice input keyboard

My device runs on asian DXJG4 and then officially updated to DXJPA and now DXJPE. I have seen some devices having a microphone button for voice input on samsung keyboard. Mine does not. Android keyboard is also not available as an option.
What's the exact issue that forbids me to use voice input? I can only use the voice recognition on google search bar, that's it.

Sounds like you're looking for Vlingo, its free in the market but don't forget to switch to that keyboard once you've installed it
I cannot just get the voice input integrated into samsung keyboard?

[Q] Gingerbread keyboard popup blank

After a while the keyboeard popup disapears, i don't see anything but when i release it uses the icon or number but it's really annoying. i also posting a screenshot to show it, the dot button is pressed to show the popup, but there is nothing to see.
Before people are starting to say wipe everything, i'm not a noob at this i flashed everything used different roms currently i'm using modified stock ROM. it was also present with CM7 builds (nightlies & rc)
Gb version GRI40 with stock kernel. I just wanted to know if other people have the same issue.
ps: reboot does fix the problem but annoying to reboot it every time.
Update:
thnx to tommert38 there is a way to get the popup working again bij 'Clear data' in Settings > Applications > Manage applications. This will remove all the keyboard settings and maybe dictionary (not sure about this).
this is also a reported issue found here > http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15029
I've experience the same problem. I've tried foreclosing the keyboard but that doesn't work.
So far the only solution I know is a restart.

fine to hear that i'm not the only one with this issue but not fine to hear that there is a bug like this.
I also tried FC the keyboard and didn't work and this happens everyday.
What if you select 'Clear data' in Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All, under Android keyboard ?
I installed a custom keyboard with English and Dutch dictionary and had this issue once, but when I cleared data it was fine again..
If you have more than one keyboard installed, you can switch to the other keyboard and back again by long pressing the text field and selecting the Input Method option. It's a workaround, but it's easier than rebooting the phone...

Ok so i'ts a official GB Bug, i didn't read it anywhere so i thought i was the only one.
I believe I've seen the same, on Gingerbread, but running another keyboard (AnySoftKeyboard). The keyboard disappeared and didn't appear until reset. At the same time, switching to the regular Gingerbread keyboard worked - it showed up. Switching back to AnySoftKeyboard before reset again brought it blank.

this worked for me! thanks
Im getting the same issue on a stock GB N1... Only happened once so far though, and I solved it by rebooting the phone...
Having the same issues even on the Nexus S. Fixed by force closing the android keyboard. Never happened before until recently. I think its GB.
I dont remember having this issue on GB 2.3.2 (when using CM7 Nightlies) did this happen after the update to 2.3.3?
I have the same problem using HTC Ime Mod (oxygen 2.0.1, HTC Desire). In this mod there is an option to kill te keyboard. That's enough to fix it!
Yea, this only happened after upgrading to gingerbread. Stock 2.3.3, never modified.
If i clear the Android keyboard data, doesn't that mean i loose the keyboard permanently? I'd need another keyboard as a backup right?

No you won't loose your keyboard only the settings of the keyboard and maybe (not sure) custom dictionary.
I saw this thread yesterday (never noticed the bug until I after I read this ) but have noticed it several times now. I just took the keyboard from CM7 RC1 and pushed it to /system/app/LatinIME.apk. I haven't been using it very long, but so far I have not gotten the bug again. I will report back after a few hours of usage on my finding. Also, I noticed nothing functionality wise that differs from the 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 LatinIME's.
Update: the bug occurred anyways, but force closing the keyboard restored it to working function.

Clearing the keyboard means that all settings go to default. This means I only have to select which dictionaries I want to use, because I don't touch the other settings It won't delete your keyboard and it's still better than rebooting the phone!

[Q] Gingerbread keyboard isn't in word mode for the email app

I'm using Simply Honey 3.1 and the gingerbread keyboard works great in all the apps.
It's in character mode when using the terminal emulation (so it doesn't suggest words or correct commands), and it most other apps it's in word mode.
For some reason the keyboard is in character mode the email app (using an exchange account).
Is there a fix for this? Can I control the mode of the keyboard?
Thanks,
Chris
can u share the apk of the keyboard? i have the stock version of 2.3 jvb and all the gingerbread keyboards i found dont support multitouch
I double checked and it happens with the stock android keyboard also.
For the Gingerbread keyboard you can install it from the Market, or find it in numerous posts here. I do remember reading there was an issue with multitouch keyboards in the stock GB roms. Try a custom ROM, you'll never go back to the Samsung crap.

[Q] Keyboard won't access Google Voice Typing (Captivating rom)

Hey guys,
So I've tried everything I can think of, but my google voice typing icon does nothing when I touch it. If I hold it down, it still brings up settings, but just stays inactive when I touch it. I was able to use it after I first flashed the captivating rom, in fact I mistakenly made it my default keyboard somehow.... and once I figured out how to turn it off of default (reset the phone to apply settings) for some reason it stopped working. Not sure if there's any more options short of backing up and re-flashing.
I'm still using the same captivating rom, with unofficial semaphore kernel.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Which version of the ROM are you running? I'm currently running X6 and I've had some other odd keyboard issues. Have you tried resetting the default keyboard? (I know you took off the other one from default but what did you set as the default after)
I have tried both xperia keyboard and the android keyboard as default. Neither work
X6 here too
I'll try to download the google voice app later when I get home from work. If any one else has had any keyboard issues your input would also be appreciated .
Yeah I downloaded Google voice a couple hours ago, hoping it could fix it. Are they actually related though?
It's odd because it's only the keyboard icon that won't access google voice typing... I can do voice search etc.
Odd, I'll try this as well once I get home. Just to note, I DID NOT flash X6 from a clean install. I "dirty" flashed it over X5. Not sure if you did as well (It wouldn't come as a surprise if this was the cause of some of these issues, if you did this as well).
Actually I did flash from stock.

X7 is posted now and I've heard it fixes some of the keyboard issues. Hope it helps.

[Q] Google Keyboard on 4.2.2

Anyone having problems selecting the Google keyboard on HTC One 4.2.2 - 2.17.401.1 rom?
I have it installed but cannot see the option the select it, I can only see Sense or Google voice typing.
Any help or workarounds will be appreciated.
Are you checking from the notification drop down? If so, make sure it's enabled in settings->language & keyboard.
Hope that helps.

It's a known bug that it doesn't appear under Languages and Input (On certain CIDs), Google should be releasing a fix soon
Initially it force closed, now they fixed that and caused this -.-
