Killer phone features - Off-topic

Hi guys and gals.
I don't know about everyone else but I feel phone innovation has stalled and all we get is bigger screens and faster processors
I wanted to start a thread of sensible and fantastical things you'd want you phone to do.
I'm personally waiting for :
Multiple SD cards
Smoke screen
Tazer
TV remote control
What do you want?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Better LED notifications that actually catch my attention, for example the IIDA Light pool.

Phone with battery that last longer than my Nokia 1100, or 3310.
And yeah, the light pool is sooo cool. Me want tooo~

Yea that light pool is good but I don't think I'd like a flip phone anymore, I'd prefer a knight rider kit car style line of leds going across the top of the phone with kits voice added to navigation and finish all instruction by calling me Michael in a dry sarcastic tone.
I'd also like boot loader password to protect against people hacking my phone and a nuclear battery that would last forever, that could double up as a small yield nuke for blowing things up at will.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Unlocked and bands to support support sprint, AT&T, and verizon LTE, as well as T-mobiles 42mbs HSPA+ (and a hidden radio to support their upcoming LTE-A network), Pentaband GSM, quad and EDGE/GPRS of course with at least 2 sim slots, Dualband CDMA, 1080p 5 inch screen, quad core snapdragon S4, thinner than 9mm, metal unibody (similar to one s), battery that can last all week (like my soft modded incredible) and 128gb storage (no sd slot needed ) and of course made by HTC, running jellybean

In dire situations I want to be able to use my phone as a high powered explosive. And no, I am not allowed to talk about my job.
And no, I am not a secret service agent

How about a remote control for your car, james bond style, Haha and perhaps a Swiss army knife set of tools especially a beer bottle opener.
And the greatest a light saber, single blade in purple.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Bottle opener, built in kickstands on all phones, a built in fan to cool down the phone.
That is all i want but if you throw me some extra stuff like bigger better screen, processor i'll take it..
My Galaxy Nexus has everything i could want on a phone just lacking three of the features above

This might be crazy but hear me out.. What if we could get an audio notification when we received messages! Or even better, but way into the future - vibration. I know, crazy right! Only an idiot would miss a notification!

I want a phone that can make smoothies, brew beer, grill meat, and mix drinks while drunk.

They should make a phone for druggies with a built in .1 gram scale, a lighter, and a secret compartment with a razor blade in it. Maybe even a phone so they can call the dope man.

what should i get next?

Hi all,
I have this bad habit of trying out latest gadgets.......
i never had a single phone for more than 2 months...i easily get bored
till now i had many phones.......
iphone...HTC (diamond, HD, HD2, G1, Magic, Nexus one)..plam pre, sony ericsson (satio, Xperia x10).. Palm pre....samsung (some stupid phone) .....Motorola milestone..nokia N97..some other small phones (all in just 1 year )
now i am bored with nexus and xperia and want to try something exciting...but all exciting phones like HTC evo 4g and droidx are only available in US and also CDMA...
samsung bada is not so exciting (No apps )
please suggest something exciting phone i can get in germany......
I think you have had just about everything to date.
Try that new watch phone that LG came out with. It looks pretty cool, reminds me of James Bond
Get the GSM version of the droid x. It's the milestone xt722 or something but it has a 8 mp camera with a xenon flash and a keyboard along with a front facing camera. I would've got it before my Nexus, but it's got Motoblur and it's Motorola....
How about the Samsung galaxy s? Too bad it's very familiar with the iphone design...
motorola is the worst company i would i ever go for...they are against openeness and they can't fulfill my rom flashing addiction....
sold my milestone within 3 days of buying it brand new.....
thinking of N900 or Dell streak...wat say?
but N900 has this bad resisitive screen which i hate.....
i dont know why...i dont like samsung at all...
what do you say XDAians?
no one ...... :'(

Dell Streak is the one for you man not out in your country yet but will be soon and you wont get board with it after 2 months,
PS you must do good business Selling on Ebay LOL
Idk about a dell streak... It's not really portable. It's meant to be a tablet with phone capabilities. You can tell by the way the capacitive buttons are turned 90 degrees so when it's on a table you see them correctly . But still... a 5 inch screen on a phone is just way to big.
Stick with HTC and XDA on what ever you get!
thank you all for the replies...........
Dell streak is good but its on 1.6 ........
most of the other phones Alex530 has mentioned are not available in Germany and they are not GSM too....
@lufc ...i dont sell these on ebay as i have got many local friends who would like to buy phones from me as i am the mobile guru for them here and i still have most of the phones with me still
looking to try Bada os but it has no VOIP app yet which is the major part of my phone usage
i am still confused and dont know what to do............please...help me...

HTC Desire HD Silverback™

Hola!
I got bored today and decided that i was really tired of the fugly brown-ish color on my Desire HD, so i removed it and voila! I haven't polished it, but i think the industrial look looks good! And yes i know the back now looks like the first iPhone
Thanks to Mynthix for the idea!
So, I present to you, the HTC Desire HD Silverback™!
(I'm very sorry for the pathetic picture quality!)

So, what do you think?
I think it needs a nice emblem on the back. Something with a matte finish.
Sent from my Frosty phone using the xda app
Very nice,
I am envious of your guys with your full metal back. My HD2 and Sensation have to much plastic still
Oh, you mean the Apple logo? Yes, i plan on doing that. (not!)
Btw, i did break one thing...i think.. When i removed the part with the LEDs i managed to break one of the GPS connectors (if that was it), but i haven't tested the GPS yet so i don't know. But i never use the GPS so it's not that big of a deal really
Looks really nice man!
I still want to do it when i have some spare time, probably next week.
But how did you protect the plastic arround the LED's? Tape it off? Or did you leave all the plastic parts on the device and sanded arround it?
Looks nice I also like unpolished (Did on m Desire Z back ) Shame SGS2 has a plastic one

No I mean like they have in the one thread where the guy actually put "XDA DEVELOPERS" and the Android logo. Screw apple. Have the Android screwing the apple for all you like, it's your phone lol

I removed all the plastic and used tape on and around the screen and the opening at the bottom with the SIM and SD.
- I used a sand paper (P240)
- Then a 3M "Fine" sanding sponge ((Pic)
- Then i used a very fine nagel file sponge (pic)

Howd you get the GPS off?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
The GPS antenna is behind the LED cover so when i removed it i saw that one of the gold connectors was bent, so i was trying to bend it back and then a piece of it snapped
I'll try the GPS tomorrow and see if it's totally useless or not.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
I meant the led cover sorry, does it just pop off
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Aha! You have to remove the battery cover and the battery, then you'll need to use a long thin thing and press a clip and then the cover will lift itself up a little, and then you use another thin "thing" and "unhook" the other clips.
There are some videos on YouTube that shows you how to do it, but be VERY careful so you don't break it.

[Q] Galaxy SII or Galaxy Note?

Yo!
So, i'm looking for a new phone to buy but i can't decide between the Galaxy SII (the white one which IMO looks hawt) and the Galaxy Note.
I can't decide if i want a 5,3" screen or 4,3". I know, it's stupid not to go for the 5,3" screen, but i'm not sure on size of the device itself.
What whould you buy? (Btw, is the Note's bootloader open/crackable?)
(Mods, i know i'm in the wrong area with this post, but i want to check what my homies here @ Off-topic think)
Either way your getting an absolute f******g beast of a device....
Not sure if the note would be just that little bit too big for a phone but I havent handled one so I can't really comment...
The white one looks putrid though (jm2c)
Yeah i know! But i've tested the Galaxy S WiFi 5" and it's huge, and the Note is even bigger BUT it's way way thinner, so.. i don't know! But.. but.. just LOOK at that screen!
I've got the S2 and absolutely love it, but I would (after a try) probably swap for a Note if I could, so I voted for that.
Either way mate, like Conan said you're getting a BEAST! Get one of each and then give me the one you decide not to keep
Even tho i think the note is WAY WAY WAY TOO BIG!!!
I voted for it as it is faster
Hmm, looks like the Note will be my new device! The only thing i'll have to do now is to wait...
It's not released here yet.. Booo!
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
i'd have gone for a Galaxy Note, if they made it for the Tmo USA AWS 1700/2100 network
Yup, i'm super into the Note now after reading Engadget's review and watching a lot of YouTube videos. I must have it! Come to papa!
Either is great but the Note has a Pentile screen so some say white looks green especially whe magnified (Best iimage I can currently find) But either choice is awesome
(Also below only shows a SGS1,)

Because we are talking about a Super AMOLED display and not a Super AMOLED Plus, the display is based on a so-called PenTile pixel structure, where pixels share subpixels. A PenTile OLED panel was recently introduced with the Samsung Galaxy Note, and we were not impressed. In real world PenTile means loss of details and sharpness, as well as a bluish/greenish tint around letters (depending on the background color). See how it looked on the Galaxy Note in the picture below.

Actually, yes it can. Don't know if you've tried to hold it, but if you have "normal" man hands it'll work fine. I can do most things with one hand except writing on the keyboard.
And remember that the Note is only 9mm thick, so it slides easily into the pocket

I KNEW IT! I knew Apple was in the Android game. Look at them, doing what they do best. Taking everything in the world, and changing 2-3 letters, and making it their 'own'. Oh Apple, you so sneakz.
Inb4 Apple sues THL for making phones that look like other phones and do things other phones already do and then adds those things so their phone can do it too.
They patented copyright and patent-infingement, only Apple can duz that.
Technology Happy Life.
That's priceless. HTC should change their name to that.
I wonder if HTC or Samsung would go after them for these.

They're not once you realize that:
A. The CPU is actually terrible
B. The screen is awful despite being 1080p.
C. The software is buggy (even their screenshots have errors in the notification tray!)
D. You get essentially ZERO support from them, and in broken English!
Are all the reviews there shills?
If they aren't then these may not be half bad if you're ok with probably noisy pictures, 3G, a 2000 mAH battery (that's terrible for a 5") and pretty much (at least, I would expect) no support.
