[Q] Text-to-speech Toggle? - Motorola Droid 4

Ok, somehow during setup I toggled on this annoying TTS feature where it reads each word I type while sending a text. However, in loads of googling and searching various boards, I cannot find any reference to changing this setting. I would like to turn it off. Thoughts?

I haven't tried this personally but the first thought I had was it sounds like you might have accidently turned on "voice readouts" under the accessibility settings.
I'll test it myself and get back to you.
Edit: I just tried turning it on, I got very similar behavior to what you're talking about.

That was my first thought but none of my accessibility features are turned on. I forgot to mention it only happens when typing on the virtual keyboard.

And for the time being it seems to have turned itself off... stupid smartphones are too smart sometimes

Keeping screen on when charging?

I've tried relentlessly to find a way to keep the screen on while charging, to practically no avail.
I ended up installing an app called "Stay Awake", which worked in theory, however, after 5 seconds the screen adjusts to the dimmest setting which is nearly impossible to read unless you are in a dark room.
Without that app running nothing else works to keep the screen on during charging.
Anyone solved this issue yet?
Thanks
Why do you want to keep it on? There are some clock apps that i think do this. But not 100% on that.

I use it to stream music to my car stereo using Winamp. Its aggravating to have to turn the screen back on everytime I want to change the song/station.

What I described above is what happens with auto brightness off. After 5 or 6 seconds the screen dims, but stays on, which is fine at night, but during the day its unreadable.

no idea then
You need a car dock app then. Dashdroid used to do it. Been years since i used one. But check out dock apps.
I recently came across a setting in Settings/Developer options/Stay awake. Perhaps that would do the trick

Did you enable the Developer settings by tapping repeatedly on the build number in settings? I have the setting on my Note 3. Or do you mean it doesn't really do the trick? Sorry lol

lol yeah I enable it and checked "stay awake". It just doesn't seem to have any effect
Try Screen Timeout Toggle. Great little app that worked for me when I needed this feature while on my Note 2.

The setting is under the developer options screen. (If you don't have developer options enabled go to settings->about device and tap on build number about 10 times. (half way thru tapping you'll see a pop up telling you how many taps are left))

unknown annoying notification!?

I tried searching for this notification sound but i couldnt find it, i disabled most of the notifications and i still get it randomly.
Screenshot or a description would help. Try tapping and holding down the notification , from there you can see what app is sending the notification

The reason why im asking is that it doesnt show any notification "sign" or any status, it is unknown, its just an annoying "sound" like its running on my background, like a "ghost", after that its gone with no trace.
I tried looking at "running apps" but its not there. I tried looking for that particular sound/audio on my device but couldn't find it.
So it's just a sound?
Just a weird random annoying sound, which is like a ghost thats untraceable

Had the same problem. After searching everywhere in settings I found the cure in 'Accessibility'. It was awhile ago, but I believe 'Notification Reminder' was set to on. Turning it off, fixed it. Not 100% sure, I'm remembering this correctly, but it's worth a try.

My phone vibrates for no 'reason'

Greetings all,
I have a new Note5 and overall I like it.
As you might expect I have been working feverishly to find up to date app solutions for my usage model and that will work on an unrooted device. I despise all that conspire to force this upon us! Anyway I have been testing loads of apps and somewhere along the way something has been set to vibrate to indicate something. It is happening at fairly random intervals and nothing shows on screen or in the pull down that accounts for it.
I have looked for events that are pending, past due, etc. I don't get many texts. So, it isn't that. I have even turned on airplane mode which should prevent any kind of updaes or pushes that might trigger an notice.I have checked all of the apps I am using and none are set to vibrate only. From the initial turn on of this phone I have run package disabler pro for Samsung. Using a basic list from this xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/guide-bloating-touchwizzing-note-5-t3184563. I have restarted the phone several times as well
Can anyone suggest some kind of system monitor/logging app that I can load that will allow me to find out which application is triggering this? Is there some other way I can find out what is triggering this event? I expect that a logging app will eat battery more but on a temp basis that would be ok.
Thanks all and here's to someone finding a way for us to root our notes without messing up our warranty and secure payment...

If you are talking about how it vibrates when you first pick it up for seemingly no reason, then that's a feature. It's to let you know you have notifications. It's called smart alert, you can disable it in the gestures menu.
vibrate (and sound) for 'no reason'
Thanks _MetalHead_
But no. This happens when it is sitting undisturbed. I will check and turn off that feature if it isnt already so it isnt adding to the confusion.
If I didnt say, I find no idication of active alarms or notifications.
P
Do you have any Bluetooth devices connected? I had a smart watch with my S5. Every time it connected or disconnected, the phone would vibrate. This was especially annoying when I left the watch in the bedroom while sitting in the living room with my phone. Every few minutes it would connect/disconnect and the phone would vibrate.

Not clear if this is contributing. Will turn BT off to be certain.
Actually, I think I can say for certain no. This has happened in airplane mode.
That is why I am looking for a system logging application or some equivalent method.

Hi, Go to settings and go to S Pen Option, and turn off all S Pen alerts, including power saver one.

Yeah, I re-read your OP, and noticed you said it was happening in airplane mode.
The S-Pen suggestion above seems worth pursuing.
Good luck!
I have the same problem. It would just randomly vibrate. I think is something to do with Google notifications.

2 questions.

Hey guys I do have two questions to ask. I would greatly appreciate some answers and feedback. First off is it possible to flash the AT&T LG v40 ROM to a T-Mobile LG v40? Second I'm having a problem with my sound in terms of the notifications and the ringer. It turns itself on at certain times yet I don't have context awareness enabled. Is there some thing I might have enabled that makes it turn on like that.

Sounds like a Do Not Disturb schedule is set and turned. You can find tge settings to turn it off in settings.

It happened to me too.
I spent about an hour going into the Notification Settings for every application and 'Resetting' them all to Default while making sure Do Not Disturb was turned off on all Apps.
Then went back and set the Do Not Disturb to the settings of my choice in each app and for phone-calls and it's never failed me yet. I'm sure there's an easier way to do it, but I only know this way.

Have a check at your phone administrators see if one of your apps or something has control or permissions to do it..I don’t know if it’s this it’s just a thought.
