[Q] - LG Optimus Black

So, i wanted to root my LG optimus black, and for that i used this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23788913&postcount=170
everything went fine, until i exendently clicked the recovery awey. now i am not abled to do steps 14,15 and 16.. what can i do? do i need to root al over again?
or can i just open the recovery at boot? I searched the internet and they said:
press and hold volume down, and click power. nothing happend.. i tryed it with and without USB plugged in my computer..

Download Rom manager from market and select reboot to recovery in app then flash superuser
Sent from my LG-P970g using XDA

When i do that it says "an eroor occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" what to do now?

Can i just Start al over again from step 1, and root it again?
atleast i will get at the recovery screen again.. or cant you 're-root' a phone?

Use any other program, like quickboot, or install adb on your pc or install a terminal emulator on your phone and type: reboot recovery

Thanks, it works

No Download Mode or Recovery

When I first got the phone, I had download mode and the stock recovery. Well, I rooted it, and attempted to flash CM7. After that, I got stuck in a bootloop, so I flashed with Odin3 One-Click. After Odin3 One-Click, I no longer have download mode or recovery. When I use the 3-button combo for the recovery, it just boots into Android. When I do the Volume Button up and down, and put the USB cable in, it just goes to the charging screen. Not sure what to do, and am a bit frustrated.
Jig to get back in dl mode and flash either GB bootloaders or just GB. You probably flashed 2.1.
Yes, it did. And that's what I had before. So, is buying a jig the only option now?
You can make one, but to my knowledge ya.
Okay. I'll see what I can do when I get home. I'll check back with any progress, thanks for your help!
Wait Second thought. If you can root it (one of the 1 click methods) you can use terminal Emulator.
su (accept SU)
reboot download -or- reboot recovery
you can just make your own jig. i was stuck the same place you where with the bootloop earlier this week. i made a jig at work in 5 mins with $1 worth of parts.
my problem was that i had a rogers captivate and didnt know that it had to be flashed differently to get cwm to work
I have a captivate in my hand which is the same as urs 2.1 update 1 and it does not go to DL or Recovery with the buttons so i have a home made jig for the DL.
Ill say is u cannot make a jig or don't wanna nuy one just root ur phone with one click and DL terminal emu and command it reboot download and u are in download mode.
adb reboot download
no su needed. no root needed.
use the easy adb setup in my sig, then run adb, and type 'adb reboot download' or 'adb reboot recovery' ( no quotes ' ' )

hey all..so im a total noob at this and im so lost right now..i am trying to s off this htc holiday,,
this is where i am at so far...i have restored to factory flash from this thread,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013122
i then did the htc dev unlock and rooted the phone using this method 2) S Off the device (Juopunutbear/WildChild)
- MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON A STOCK ROM WITH AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER
- Download the WCXJB ROOT PACK zip below to your desktop and UNZIP it
- On your phone, make sure in your settings, USB Debugging is ENABLED in development
- Turn off your phone, turn it back on my holding power + volume down
- Use the volume rocker and power button to select fastboot
- Connect your phone to your PC
- Inside the WCXJB ROOT PACK, click shift + right click and select "Open command window here"
- Enter in these commands without the quotes
- "fastboot flash recovery wcxrecovery.img"
- Now you can boot up your phone
- Download and put Vivid_CWM_Root_VER2 zip file on root of internal sdcard (aka NOT in any folders)
- Boot into H-Boot like you did before (turn off phone, turn back on holding power + vol down), and use the volume rockers to go to "recovery" and press the power button to select it
- Select "install zip from sdcard"
- Select the VIVID_CWM_ROOT_VER2.zip through recovery and then reboot your phone
- You are now ready to S-OFF
i have su and root checker comes back rooted..
but in the superguide it says i should now flash kernal and matching rom???? i wont be stock then so how can i s off???
after gaining my root the way above i ran control bear and this is what i get.first pic..second pic is my menu if it helps..
any suggestions or a good walk through maybe..thanks alot eh..been at this two days..all i wanna do is s off..
have been following the step guide here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
Did you do the 2nd part of the instructions you posted?
"Download and put Vivid_CWM_Root_VER2 zip file on root of internal sdcard (aka NOT in any folders)
- Boot into H-Boot like you did before (turn off phone, turn back on holding power + vol down), and use the volume rockers to go to "recovery" and press the power button to select it

The CWM (ClockWorkMod) is a back up utility. It is what comes up when you select Recovery (right under Fastboot). I suggest you run it once you achieve your s-off. It will back up your phone onto the MicroSD card you've put in near the battery.
On another note:
I suggest you flash to Super CID once you get s-off to work. I had to try 4x or 5x to get the wire trick to take for s-off, but it did work in the end.
super CID allows you to flash any rom from any country without issue.
Here's what mine looks like:
yes i did the second part i have superuser now..and it did authenticate root checker, so its working..kinda why im stumped..
and Controlbear finds device and doesnt give root error just the one mentioned in pic..ty for reply and help btw...

Ensure USB debugging is enabled in your settings (under Development tab).
Go into the SuperUser program (in your apps) and tap to update the binary file.
I suggest running the Control Bear process again and of course the wire trick when it tells you to.
I was rooted and had CWM installed before I tried to s-off.
Check your Recovery. It should look like this:
If your recovery does not, I suggest running the install of it again.
You sound as though you're 1/2 way to getting the s-off done. Stick with it.
I can't explain how to fix... but your problem is you're not able to grant root via ADB...
I know one solution is to use faux's kernel

yep thats my recovery..used it to flash the vivid cmw..
and yep debugging is on or control doesnt find device..

No... just because and can see it... doesn't mean you have root...
Like I said... you can most likely fix it by flashing faux's kernel...
I think 'adb remount' is the command to check for root via adb
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
i flashed with grouper-faux123-reset-kernel-4.1.2 and i still have the same error in pic above in controlbear??
anything else i can give a try?thanks
is it possible to use a rooted rom and still s off?
you flashed a nexus 7 kernel.........
ok ty..my phone still works lol..flashing back to stalk now..starting over thanks eh...
if i had have flashed with proper flash think it would have made adb root?
reflashed to stock rogers ruu..rooted with wcjxb and vivid cwm...then flashed boot.img(faux) from darkraider 155. im still getting the original error in control bear about secondary backup...whats to do??
Did you ever launch the SuperUser app and update its binary as I suggested previously? It may not help, but it sure won't hurt.
You'll know for certain if you're rooted if you can do that.
morning..yes i tried the su update..is this proper in the pic..
i can fastboot adb devices and fastboot devices. when i try adb remount it returns an error tho..im stumped...
thanks for all the help here btw..i made a mess around here a lil..
If anyone went to http://www.unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm recently, it explains you have to do use Ubuntu 12.04 (and newer) 32bit only, and the guides here are out dated, I went from the s-off method here, to s-on, and ran Ubuntu and s-off'd again using the updated method and I have less problems than I did before.
read that but ive read windows version should work?? hmmm ill try the process on another machine running ubuntu or 7..
thanks
It should work. I've been using the original method for about a year and 0 problems.

Stuck in a pickle ( D415 fastboot)

Hey guys long time personal device modder and lurker here, I've seem to have bricked my girlfriends phone, and she is currently not very pleased.
I attempted to unlocked the boot loader for her D415
from this tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-t-mobile-l90-t2836457.
did the first half of the guide ( adb ), I wasnt able to get reach fastboot from lack of fastboot drivers, but after reading another thread turns out her d415 was unlocked already. I rooted the phone with towelroot, installed TWRP from I think rom manager, booted into recovery from terminal emulator, made a backup of the phone using TWRP and installed cyanogenmod 11.
Now everything worked great with the phone, but she wanted Gapps. When I installed Gapps from TWRP half of the Gapps werent there ( the play store was missing ) , and a google plus notification repeatably kept popping up. So I decided to restore the phone with the backup of the phone I made earlier and reinstall cyanogenmod. Once the restore was complete it was booted into fastboot. At first her phone wasn't being recognized, I found the drivers for fastboot, on this guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-fastboot-l90-d415-t2827825. I can communicate with my phone from fastboot but that's it. I tried using fastboot to install the cyanogenmod and stock rom but I got a 'error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt" from each rom
So any help would be appreciated! Sorry for the long post, I didnt wanna leave out any details that could help!

I don't think I can enter recovery by holding down buttons on this phone, I think the only way I could reach it is from a terminal emulator or TWRP manager? So what would flashing a recovery do ? because wouldnt I still be in flashboot?
Sorry only being stuck in flashboot is weird.

Xperia ZR Bootloop

Guys, if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Ok, here's my situation I tried to root my phone using kingroot but it keeps randomly rebooting. So, I've read somewhere that you can change kinguser to supersu by using supersu me. That's what I did now what happened is after installing and rebooting my phone is now in bootloop. So tried reflashing using flashtool but everytime it says that usb debugging must be on and there's no way for me to do that. Is there anyway for me to recover my phone and fix it? Hope you guys can help me.
P.S. Sorry if this is not the right place to post this. Thanks.

Have you installed Sony drivers before using FlashTool?
Only flashtool can recover you from this situation and remember to press up or down button and then connect the USB cable. Then only it will boot into flashmode

I've just had a similar experience using kingroot on stock lollipop.. It's a horrible app and of no use really.. This is how i got out of it and rooted my phone properly: download a .ftf stock rom for your region, search in the cross device section for perfcreator, fastboot tool and look in xenius9's thread for a boot.img (recovery, doesn't matter if it's a CM12 img or not for now) and finally a flashable zip supersu and NUT's dual recovery INSTALLER (important this) for ZR..
Place the boot.img in the folder you extracted the fastboot tool to, open perfcreator and point it to your stock ftf firmware and to your supersu zip.. press create and this will make a proper rooted flashable zip firmware, which you place in your SD-card on your phone.. (I used my friends phone to place the firmware onto the SD card and put it back on my hone)
Open the folder with fastboot tool and also include the boot.img.. Power off your phone and press vol-up while you connect your usb cable.. The led will turn blue showing your in fastboot mode, and put the cursor on your pc on a empty space in the fastboot folder, hold shift and right-click... This will open a pop-up and select "open command window here"..
A black screen will appear and type the following: fastboot flash boot boot.img.. press enter
this will take 3 seconds and you will have a working recovery on your phone for now..
Now type in the same black screen: fastboot reboot..
Your phone will boot and you press vol-up or down to get to recovery.. the led will show pink or green ..
wipe your cache/data/system and once done, install the rooted firmware you placed on your sd card.. This will remove the recovery you have installed once you reboot but once you have set your phone up, go to settings/about/build number and press several times until you have unlocked developer options.. go to developer options and check debugging..
connect your phone to the pc, open the dual recovery installer and follow the instructions
You now have a fully rooted phone with recovery installed... Sounds complicated maybe but just take your time and you'll be fine..

Magisk disappears on reboot.

as the title says, whenever my phone dies or crashes, i cant get it to boot into magisk.
Key combos dont work, only way i can get it to boot back into magisk is by reflashing with odin.
sorry if this is the wrong place, any help would be much appreciated, thank you very much.

Install the app "Root Essentials". It has a set of buttons you can put in the top bar, one of which is a reboot interface, where you can then select "Reboot Recovery". There is also a direct "Reboot Recovery" Button.

I meant more that on crashes or battery dying I then have to reboot and this is where I have the issue with magisk disappearing. I'm fine rebooting after I have booted into magisk but once it's gone it's impossible to get back without reflashing.
If in root mode, Magisk offers a button to reboot which reboots into root mode. Unfortunately this works only from root mode, as root is necessary to allow this functionality. I guess it is the same with the root essentials app.
