[Q] [i9001] Phone heating - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hii.i've got a i9001 running cm9 ics.sometimes, when i'm ussing the phone or just walking trough the menu, it heats up.i nearly can't touch it.i installed mininfo and it shows that the battery has 55°C/60°C.what should i do?
P.S: when it's superheating, the phone becomes very lagy

Try a cache/dalivk wipe? Clear ram? If that doesn't work fix permissions or try a full wipe use a kernel script cleaner and reflash I have no problems with heat unless I'm doing a lot on it, and I I'm using it a lot while charging it becomes hotter but this is normal but not from simple menu scrolling, check the CPU settings as well make sure its not got a high min cpu frequency. If all this doesn't work undervolt a bit this will lower the temp as well

[Q] Galaxy note at 200MHZ

Hello, today i was browsing the net and then my GNote suddendly became slow...
i had rooted it with superOneClick, and i hadn't had any problem till now. I installed SetCPU and i saw it is running at 200/500mhz. How can i solve this problem? I tried to reboot many times and i pulled out the battery, but nothing changed.
I previously had installed cpu tuner, but also uninstalled it without problems and when the slow down started, i hadn't any overclock app on my phone. Thanks!
You have to scale it up to 1400MHz again using SetCPU. Since you don't have a clue on using it, i recommend that you uninstall it after you've clocked it to its normal state.
maybe it was low on power and it started using system power saving
It is charging (65%) although the battery level decreases...
And i used scale it up to 1400mhz, but nothing changes, only for a few seconds it runs normally and than back to be laggy
It seems that something is fighting against setcpu, any clues? I think that with a hard reset i will solve the problem, but this is my last willing.
And I installed setcpu after the lag started, i wanted to see the clock of the cpu because it was too slow.
Don't use SetCPU or any OC tools to check the CPU. Install Elixir 2 from the Market and see if it goes up to 1400MHz when you stress the phone.

Stress Testing the Note

Hi all,
I've recently installed Rocket ROM v13 along with AbbyssNote 2.6, but I'm experiencing frequent phone freezes and a abnormal warm device.
I've tried setting the voltages back to standard values, but that hasn't fixed the problem.
The freezing happens the most when launching the browser and less frequently when playing games.
Is there a way to test what frequencies work with what ideal voltages? And getting rid of the heat would be nice too Thanks in advance
The heat is probably mostly from the Wifi problem. You may also have trouble with CPU being overactive.
Leave the voltage alone as it will cause stability problems. Its just a bandaid and not the real solution to your heat issue.
What is the room temp and battery temp of your phone?

My battery ranges from 40-50C when on idle use. The room is around 20C.
The phone gets really hot on the top 20% whenever I use it for a decent amount of time.
I currently have the phone on default settings. From 200-1400 Mhz and the voltages found here.
This heat is something i am battling with also, tried many things even reducing volts does not seem to help.. i think it's just the way it behaves.

Note is getting too hot

I was wathicng youtube and had pluged in charger and popup came like your cellphone battery is getting too hot stoping the charging and i checked the cell and it was really really hot
whats wrong
i am using rocket rom and abyssplug
no overclock
Flash different Kernel .
Try to see if it happens with a 100% stock kernel.
I have same RocketRom v20 and AbyssNoteKernel 3.6 to but it never happened to me.
Only as I had AbyssNoteKernel 3.2, then it got too hot.
Just flash another Kernel like SpeedModKernel

Yes, you right!
I have had the same problem, but now i use Rocket Rom V21 and it seem ok.
Same here at start Note was fine when using 3G or charging temp used to be around 30-35C , but from few days even when on charging/maps/3g/ its getting very hot n temp is around 45-50C.
if i close all the apps n restart the phone n charge still temp is around 46C.
IM on STOCK ROM.
A lot of people find it possible to undervolt the GPU quite a bit. I'm sure it helps with temperature issues. I run mine @ 267 mHz / 0.75V (lower step) and 400 mHz / 1.00V (higher step) all the time. The phone does get warm when playing 3D games but never really hot.

1200mhz?

I want to overclock my droid to 1200mhz but everytime I try my phone locks up almost immediatly after setting the clock speed. Is there a certain process I should go through or just a specific kernel or rom any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you want to do this?
I did it once in my Milestone but I think it's unecessary.
The system usually get very unstable, increase battery consumption, and reduce your phone's life.
I really don't recommend that.
1000mhz is already great, you can even try 1100.
What's your rom?
You could try /etc/init.d/10overclock . In my Milestone CM7, there is the clocks defined and vsel. Try setting 1200mhz and 70 to vsel.
Add a water cooling set up, go for 1.6Ghz. Go big or go home buddy!!!

hey, i see that you are from Caracas, Me too, well, first that all, make sure that your phone CPU runs normally, use some CPU info program to see if your cpu works normally, as speed, and shutting down when not need it, maybe that programs set some system parameter changed and yor cpu is always running at max speed or all cores are active even when not using it.
you can also clean your dalvik cache, and use a cleaner program
