The more important question is ... WHAT does logcat have to say once the browser crashes?
The FC message you see in the UI is meaningless. Provide a logcat from around the moment the browser dies so we can see what went wrong.
How that works? Easy...
- Enable USB debugging.
- Connect the phone to your computer by USB.
- On Windows, get yourself adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll and copy the three files into C:\Windows
- On Linux, get yourself adb and copy the file into /usr/local/bin (by sudo), change permissions (sudo chmod 0755 /usr/local/bin/adb) and change owner (sudo chown root:root /usr/local/bin/adb)
- Start the logcat capture
- On Windows, open a Command Prompt and ...
cd C:\Users\<your username>\Downloads
adb logcat > logcat.log
- On Linux, open a Terminal and ...
cd ~/Downloads
adb logcat > logcat.log
- Play around till the Browser crashes
- CTRL+C
- Copy/Paste the logcat capture to pastebin and put the link here for investigation

Ok will try superchrgr...

help with sdk commands

ok this is where i am i unzipped android sdk6 on my c drive.. i put the asroot(unzipped) and the i.5 recovery image in the tools folder of the sdk.. i go to the windows prompt and type "cmd" (no quotes) screen comes up i type cd C\android-sdk-windows\tools.. press enter.. then i get "this system cannot find the path specicied" help.....
Run the setup dcs in the Android ask folder and make sure you do it as admin in Vista and 7. You'll probably have to force http in options, most people do.

[MOD/GUIDE]This is HOW TO Remove HTC Lockscreen and Get Default Android one.

Hello Everyone,
This is Just a small and easy mod/guide for all those who want Default Android Lockscreen and like me hate the HTC slide down Lockscreen:
Usual Warning : I am not responsible if by doing the steps below ::
You brick your phone (Highly unlikely if you follow only given steps).
Your GF starts loving your phone and wants it.
Your GF gets pregnant. Its you who did it .. well hopefully
Let's not delete your lockscreen just keep it in case you want it back. yeah yeah i am all for safety just like my rom.
(Always be safe)
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
Connect your phone and use ROM manager to reboot into recovery alternatively you can disconnect your phone reboot into recovery (vol down+power) and then connect your cable when you can see the green text.
Select partition menu or mount ** (dont remember the option its mount something something) depending on your recovery version and Mount system
Now i hope you know how to use adb. (Download and install android sdk)
Open command prompt (cd "path to android-sdk-windows/tools" without quotes) on my pc for example it is
Code:
cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
If you're on LINUX i am sure you know what to do.next all instructions are same:for Windows and Linux
Run following commands
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
mv HtcLockScreen.apk HtcLockScreen.bak
exit
Now you will get a nice transparent default android lockscreen.
In case you want your stock HTC lockscreen back do this
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
mv HtcLockScreen.bak HtcLockScreen.apk
exit
I have tried this with SUnAaBh ROM and it works flawlessly and ideally should work with every ROM including those not meant for HTC Wildfire.
The suggestion in the next post i.e post No.2 will cause your framework to change i.e your Theme and look of icons on notification bar, dropdown bar, battery icon etc SO to Preserve your framework just INSTALL THIS FILE..its same from attachment.
Hit Thanks if it helped.
This doesnt fix the Alarm clock bug that appears when removing the HTC lockscreen.
This does:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10192875&postcount=2
Using it on Wildpuzzle 0.1 with no problems.
Will using this work:
- If you set a alarm ( for waking up or something ), does it work then?
- If you start Angry Birds, to make it working I must power off my screen, go to lockscreen and unlock it. And then I could play. Does this work too with this lockscreen?
Thanks in advance!

I've tried this a minute ago! And it's really simple.
1. Download the android-sdk-windows folder and place it anywhere
2. start cmd.exe ( open it via start > cmd.exe )
2. Enter: cd: C:\whatever\whatever\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
3. enter: adb.exe
4. then enter the things from the first page ( the adb commands )
5. unmount system ( ! ) on phone
6. reboot phone.
And you got it! I really don't ever used adb! So it's really simple with instructions. Maybe you could include my instructions?

[Q] Help me through flashing into Hyperdroid

Hi,
i am trying to get me HyperDroid Rom, for my gt-p1000
first step is to backup my Rom and apps..
I am using "roto backup"
From my laptop (w7) running a cmd and using adb;
The process is stuck here for over an hour now (the tab screen is freezing too)
Code:
adb shell su -c "dd if=/dev/block/bm112 of=/sdcard/modem.bin bs=4096"
should i wait more?
can i unplug it then start the backup process from that last command?
(the home screen of the tab is freezing for 45 min, can't open anything)
never mind, i jsut had to unplug and restart again from that last step
now i have this little probelm:
Code:
E:\andro\platform-tools\backup>adb shell su -c "tar -czvf /sdcard/data.tar.gz /
data"
tar: invalid option -- z
BusyBox v1.19.3-Stericson (2011-12-20 21:07:32 CST) multi-call binary.
Usage: tar -[cxtZhmvO] [-X FILE] [-T FILE] [-f TARFILE] [-C DIR] [FILE]...
Create, extract, or list files from a tar file
Operation:
c Create
x Extract
t List
f Name of TARFILE ('-' for stdin/out)
C Change to DIR before operation
v Verbose
Z (De)compress using compress
O Extract to stdout
h Follow symlinks
m Don't restore mtime
exclude File to exclude
X File with names to exclude
EDIT 2: never mind again, jsut had to use: Z instead of z to compress

yes, i think i have done that with roto backup, do i need titanum too? it's a new device so i don't have too much private sutff or apps to care about
my tab comes with Froyo, Do i need this bootloaders patch before flashing?
In mine, it told me I don't need to patch.
So you might be lucky too.
But even when it says you need to patch, it is very safe.
Remember it is for froyo only.

i think i m ready to flash now.. do i have to do it with cmw? cause i didn't finish it's installation, couldn't find the right version for my tab: there is at&t, tm..)
can i use odin instead?
where is that spare parts application located?
Open up Spare Parts Application and uncheck compatibility mode.
Now give your TAB about 5 minutes without any tasks. Yeah, go drink water, whatever, just dont touch it so it finishes its background processes without issues (media scanning is taking place in background, to check , do an adb logcat).
Now reboot, and then you can go on and setup your tab.

And what exactly does this "Turbo boost" do?
Have you got any benchmark results or evidence of an performance increase? I'm not giving an program/script root access to my phone, without some proof of an increase.
Upon opening the file with Notepad++ all it had inside was this
#!/system/bin/sh
# Adrenaline Boost
# Brought to you by [email protected] Developers
sync;
sleep 1
echo "3" > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches;
sleep 1
echo "1" > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches;

Which after some googling found out it does (from a similar script for desktop Linux):
Writing to this will cause the kernel to drop clean caches, dentries and inodes from memory, causing that memory to become free.

installed, will update tomorrow with any feedback.
UPDATE: have found it runs pretty much same as V6 Supercharger, drains battery horribly though.
I was on 54% battery last night, data & wifi off and killed tasks before going bed.. I checked CPU Spy, it had been in a deep sleep state for most of the night.
I awoke to a dead phone, which doesn't even happen on the v6 supercharger!
How do I uninstall this script, can I just delete the file from bin?
I tried this but I see no difference ... should i restart the device?
cm 7.2 rc1, smartassv2 264-710 MHz
edit: rebooted the phone....still no difference.....
To really see the benefits of the boost, you need to change the file permissions. Go into a root terminal and type:
chmod +t boost
This gives the boost Time Travel permissions. Now, all processes will be completed before you even run them. Talk about a turbo boost!!
Also set the date of your phone to whatever you want the open the dialer and type "#"#7925#"#" and you'll be timewarped into the future.

Ok just done a little digging around the op's other thread (which is now locked by a mod) on a different forum as he hasn't exactly explained what this does in any of them which leads me to believe he doesn't exactly know, and probably copied it from someone else, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542602
What this does is clear the cache filesystem. 3 = free pagecache, dentries and inodes, while 1 = just free pagecache. Which in theory will decrease battery life as the cache needs to then be rebuilt afterwards.
This is already included in v6 supercharger so no need to use this if you have v6, just perform the engine flush or whatever its called whenever you want to free up some memory stuck in cache files. Its basically the same thing according to other users, I haven't looked to see if thats true or not but they sounded like they knew what they we're talking about so i believe them.

[GUIDE] Simple method to move apps to SD without link2sd or scripts

Title says it all no scripts needed nor is any link2sd and ext-sd partition. This is no new discovery it just sets default install location via a terminal parameter - am just sharing it so that those of you who might not know this benefit from it
Requirements :
*Rooted device (with usb debugging enabled in settings - developer options)
*Terminal emulator
Steps
* open term. Emulator
* type su and press enter key (accept any super user prompt that follows)
* key in the following code and press enter when done :
Code:
pm set-install-location 2
After completion you can go to setting - manage applications and move all apps to sd even the likes of stubborn apps like Facebook.
NOTE:
You can also get current default location by following code :
Code:
pm get-install-location
You can set it back to desired location by using 'pm set-install-location' if ever you feel the need to. The number after location denotes -
Code:
0-auto
1-internal sd
2-external sd
If the any of above codes give errors then try without hyphens in middle. Ex.
Code:
su
pm setInstallLocation 2
Have a good day
