[Q] Subsonic videoplay in Galaxy Mini? - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Subsonic is a great way to stream multimedia content. The Android app allows audio and video playback. However, video playback seems to fail in our Galaxy Mini. As a matter of fact, the videolist does not display any videos, not even common DivX/XivD + MP3 codecs. Any idea about why? Any workarounds? I'm running default Android 2.3.4 install (Gingerbread) at the moment. No modded rom at all.

[Q] What's the best video player for the tab?

Ok. I know there are several video players at the market. But not sure which is the best on the SGT.
I have VLC player on several of my machines at work and at home. It has become my #1 media player. Also, I have videos in these formats:
Extension: .mp4
- -video codec: H264 - MPEG 4 AVC (avc1) 480x192 @ 24 fps
- -audio codec: MPEG AAC (mp4a) 48khz
Extension: .ogv
- -video codec: Xiph.org Theora (theo) 1280x544 @ 24 fps
- -audio codec: Vorbis Audio (vorb) 48khz
I need a player that supports those video formats as well as others like xvid, .mov & .avi
I really want VLC Player on my tab but I guess it doesnt exist. So whats my alternatives?

mVideoPlayer
Vplayer

I am using vplayer. But no matter which one you use, you will hear a faint humming sound in the headphones. I thought the problem was with vplayer but I noticed it in other players too except the stock player which has some cool features like bookmark and lock screen which others don't have.
Vplayer for streaming via tversity and upnp. Stock player is good but is very picky
Oh and vlc for android is due very soon
Here's the git..

M video seems the best! I love the swipe action to fast forward or rewind
The back ground noise is from the Tab its self, simlar error on the i9000, use a new kernel with voodoo sound and should/will solve ya problem

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I will try both mplayer and vplayer.
Well I read the VLC discussion forums and it seems that the developers are working hard but are still a long way from a release. By the looks of it perhaps by May or June we could have a stable VLC Player version at Android Market.

Video Player help???
Hey guys,
I have a Spring Galaxy Tab. I have it rooted and everything. I've been trying to find a all in one video player but none of them seems to be working correctly. I have several movies and videos I converted to watch on my EVO or my Zune HD, but now that I have my tab, I would like use them there too. All the videos are in Mp4 format with either a 320x240 res 600x480 (forget what the numbers are but its the level above 320x240).
Vplayer - starts up and immediately shouts down. The the icon changes and is grayed out with a little memory card icon on it. Then I have to uninstall it.
Divx Demo Player (Rock player with extras) - and it wont play anything. But it plays any format of video or movie on my Evo.
Rock Player - I have the new version from the site and it wont play anything
Seems like nothing is working.. Most times it gives a error saying the video formats are not supported. But I have all these video player on my Evo (Which I know is a completely different device) but I'm wondering if my TAB needs video codecs or something?
Any ideas?
Moboplayer
How about the stock video player of ginegerbird version,(with media striaght fight =false)?
Have u try? the stock one play mp4 avi mkv without problem except rmvb.

I will try Moboplayer. I'm still running the stock rom. Havnet tried to update to Gingerbread yet. Didnt think any of the roms would work since they are not based on the Sprint Tab.
I think I know what's wrong
Still getting the same errors on my movies. I converted them with iSkysoft Media Coverter for Mac.
Some of the movies I used the iPhone 4 profile.:H.264, 960x640 res, 30fps, 1500kbps birate.
And some using the iPod Touch mp4 profile: mp4 video codec, 640x480 res, 30fps, 2500kbps bitrate.
So now I see why they arent working, although both of those profiles work for the Evo and Zune HD,.
What is the complete best video format, res, frame etc... for the Sprint Galaxy Tab?

Does Samsung Video Player Have Hardware Acceleration?

Does the Samsung Video Player have hardware acceleration? It's the only explanation I can come up with because it can play 720P MP4 videos just fine, whereas video players from the Market can't. Plus, it seems that the battery life is much better if I use the Samsung Video Player to watch videos whenever possible.

Yes. There are several players from the market that can also use hardware acceleration (ie. RockPlayer, mVideoPlayer), but they can only do so with formats that the stock video player supports. If the phone doesn't support hardware playback of a certain format using the stock player, then you have to use a software playback with RockPlayer, QQplayer, vPlayer, etc. (which is very suboptimal for high-res video in terms of quality and performance).
Yes it does due to the framework that samsung uses. Thus video deciding is done by the gpu rather than cpu.
As long as the 3rd party video player you choose can use the default codecs, it will have the same performance as samsungs video player. However most are based on ffmpeg decoders.
If you plan to use a non samsung based rom. The open codecs will use ffmpeg decoder which will do processing via cpu.

ohh nice to know...

[Q] DLNA streaming 720p+

It's been over a year since Galaxy S came out and I was wondering if it's now possible to watch hd videos (720p, 1080p) through streaming. I remember there were some problems with certain sound or video codecs etc.. Did the new updates fix this, or maybe new programs?

[Q] AllShare streaming to TV

Hi all!
I already have a DLNA compatible Philips TV and I run 2 differnen DLNA server apps on my Win 7 PC, Windows Media Player 12 and TVersity. That way I can browse and play almost all my movies on my PC from the TV interface.
Now I just got my first Galaxy S.
Used, with stock Android 2.2. First thing, I rooted it and prepare to install CM 10.1.
But before removing stock I want to learn how DLNA works on the phone.
I took some photos and videos that I want to stream to the TV.
The stock AllShare would sometimes display my TV as selectable target, sometimes not.
When I could select the TV I could always stream photos to the TV but only sometimes videos.
The same happened with Skifta.
I will also test some other DLNA players such as MediaHouse, iMediaShare, Beam, BubbleUp.
But so far my results seem unpredicatable and unreliable.
I searched the web and XDA but found very little.
Can somebody share their experiences of streaming media from Galaxy S ot a TV?
Working configurations?
Would somebody have an install apk to AllShare?
The Samsung support pages recommend installing their AllShare server software. Is that important? MWP and Tversity should be compatible, or maybe not?

AFAIK AllShare isnt supported by CyanogenMod... AllShare works only on Stock Gingerbread Roms with the standard framework.
You have to use apps like imediashare or something. The Streaming works very well with stock... The only problems are the free apps which are provided in the market in my opinion. the most of them have a really annoying UI but it works. music, photos are working fine. for videos i cant say anything since i didnt try to stream movies.

AC3 sound problem with SM-T815Y

Hey guys,
Has anyone viewed movies with AC3 sound on the T815Y? I've had this model for a while now and watched a lot of movies on it, but I just recently noticed that I can't watch movies with AC3 sound. I have tried multiple players (VLC, MX player with custom codec), but with all it just freezes after a while. The strange part is that the whole movie freezes. Not just the sound. I also have a S6 edge plus and the same movies play great on it. Does anyone know if this is a problem with this model or if it is just me?
Thanks beforehand.
Try Archos with free codecs. It works flawlessly.
Get the all in one codec pack for MX. It's the best player on the play store hands down.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
No issues whatsoever wirh Mxplayer on my Tab S, so the S2 shouldn't have any issues.
There is no better player than Mxplayer. I suggest you ensure you have HW+ hardware acceleration enabled.
