Could someone please help me out with 2 issues I'm having with my phone. The recovery won't load and the phone won't charge while its powered on. Here are somethings I've already tried. First I upgraded to gingerbread via at&t, then rooted it with Megatron root. I used recovery manager to flash clockworkmod (was in debugging mode). It appeared to load fine but unable to boot into it. I also tried to use the recovery tool kit from optimus 3d forum with no success. The issue with the battery is it won't charge while powered on. The battery drains really fast. I've put it in another thrill and it does fine. The USB cord work fine comunicating with the computer(so the connection seems to be fine there). Sometimes its hard to even power on. I will take out the battery for a few second the replace it and finally it powers on if Im lucky. I have to use two batteries and use a fully charged one to get to power on. Any suggestion that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Did you try to get into recovery with an app or the 3d vol- and power buttons combo with power off and if you can fully charge the battery and wipe the battery stats either use an app or do it in cwm and see what happens but to get in recovery with phone off push and hold the 3d and volume - buttons then while still holding buttons push and hold the power button till you see LG then release the power button still holding 3d and volume - until you see cwm load and then do all wipes on first screen and scroll down to advanced and in there you wipe battery stats ( only with a fully charged battery for accuracy) and dalvic cache then back up and reboot

Thanks for the suggestions, but I have
Tried all Of the suggestions that I have access to. I tried 3d + vol- power a couple dozen times at least. I've also tried from ROM toolbox and other apps that can boot into recovery and none get me in ( if its installed ). According to both installers listed above there is success. As far as a solution for the battery, I need to get into recovery to wipe stats don't I? I am focusing on getting recovery loaded first, then pursue the battery/power issue. I have tried to load recovery every way I know how. The only other idea I have is to install recovery manually, but I don't know how. I need to find a walk through that tells how. Do you have any other ideas I can try? Thanks for your time.
There are cwm installers you can download from the forums and run on your PC just search for LG optimus 3d cwm installer

Help guys.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate I897. Last night I installed the Clockworkmod ROM Manager in there and was messing around with it.
I choose my phone model to be the the I9000 and then I went into recovery mode to restore the previous ROM, but guess what? It went into recovery mode, the volume up and down buttons select the menu items and it asks me to hit the "OK key" to enter.
The Captivate doesn't have an OK key, it uses the power button. So the Android Recovery Mode here thinks the phone is a I9000 and I can't get it to do anything other than reboot into that mode.
I've tried using the ADB to try to get back into download mode but it's no longer reading the phone. The volume + power buttons to go into that mode has never worked for this phone either.
I'm at a loss at what to do. Is there anyway I can get out of recovery mode and into download mode or back to regular phone usage here? Would I need to take it to an android developer?
Thanks for your help.

Shut off the phone, open up odin(DG's flash to stock one) hold the power and the menu button. Once you see the ATT screen release the power while continuing to hold the volume buttons. Once odin recognizes your device flash to stock using the utility. Once this works donate to DG for saving your ass. Also, quit using ROM manager. Just use the update.zip method everyone else uses.
+1 for just using CWM update.zip It is sooo much easier/faster.
Thanks, but it didn't work. My Galaxy S is one of those where the volume + power buttons don't work to get it into download mode.
I did try power + menu as you suggest, but that doesn't work either.
try this
1. open odin.
2. With phone unplugged remove battery
3. with battery removed plug phone into pc via USB
4. with battery still removed simultaneously hold down Vol. + / - (forget about power button just hold down the two vol buttons)
5. While holding down the vol + / - insert the battery (keep the vol buttons down and hopefully DL screen comes up)

I cannot stress this enough.
Also, OP, if the above doesn't work, it might be USB jig time.
pwr isn't used to go into dload mode - that would turn your phone on.
Do this:
Open odin
Remove bat, sim, ext mem card
replace bat
hold vol -/+ and plug in data cable to computer
(should be download mode)
If that fails, then get yourself a jig... gotta search for the thread though - should cost a couple dollars. Then once you're back up... look up the thread to fix the 3 button combo.
You might try turning the phone off then hold VOLUME DOWN and POWER (not vol up/dwn/pwr) to get into download mode. Make sure to remove the sim and sd cards.
I bricked my phone over the weekend and had similar problem you did.the easiest way too get out in to download mode is a jig. Its easy and cheap to do.look on you tube under un brick captivate fort a tutorial.

Once you learn that trick you are on stock for like 2 minutes before you flash
Yeah I'm kind of a lurk but I've been around for about a month just flashing everything, and I had no idea it could be done like this till today. Going to make my next one even faster.

Nothing seems to work.
I'm going to try the jig method Wednesday morning. Wish me luck!
I tried the jig and it didn't work.
What happened was that it got me back into recovery mode, not download mode. Tried it several times. So unless I'm hitting the wrong points on the phone usb plugin (other than the last two), I'm hooped.
I tried the direct resistor wire to points in usb plugin method. I didn't try the one where I cut open a mini-usb cable and use the plug as a dongle, although I think it may get the same result.
What do you guys think?
I got a little too enthusiastic with my under voltage and my phone is now stuck in the LG screen. Tried to boot into CWM holding the vol down button but it just goes to SW Upgrade screen. Any help guys?
do you have the usb cable connected? push it out and try

Tried already. I am just gonna do a NVflash and start from the beginning
On my phone, if i turn off the phone and hold vol-down and power i get the software update screen, but, if i remove the battery, put it back and do the same thing, it boots the clockwork recovery. It seems removing the battery is vital to it booting into CWM for some reason
Never managed to figure it out. Just Nvflashed, rooted, installed cwm and bam, back I'm cyanogen in 10 mins

I installed the radio 5.08.00.04 (using the same file I had used previously).
Now it will not power ON. I tried 3 batteries. Nothing happens when I plug it to the wall either.
Any ideas?
thanks

Most likely a brick. Sorry bro.
Did you verify that the Md5's matched?
MD5 matched. I used this same file to install before.
was this caused because I had previously installed the same radio?
It installed as usual, then i pressed something for it to reboot (prompt) but it powered off.
Why would you flash the same radio you had before? What file did you use, link to source, and how did you flash it? As a rule of thumb you should never flash the radio via recovery.
my device was rebooting in a loop and once, i was able to stop it by turning off data. i thought that maybe it could be the radio.
i used the file from >>> cyanogen wiki android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/passion/radios/passion.5.08.00.04.zip
like i said, i had that file in the SD card and i re-installed it today, but i had already installed it before.
now the nexus doesn't power on. i tried all the buttons (vol- + power, wheel + power)... nothing on the screen. completely black. i took out the battery for 30 minutes, and nothing.
after installing the radio, it powered off (there was an image of a box with an arrow towards the android)...
wasn't planning on buying another phone.
its possible your power button is damage.
Plug your N1 via usb to a pc, the charge light will come on, remove the battery. once the light goes off, quickly put the battery back in the phone. this should reboot your phone.
If your phone reboots, it means your power button is flawed, its common with N1. Take the battery out and do it again, this time hold the trackball. this will boot your phone into fastboot mode.
I tried connecting to the power adapter, but no light. the button was fine, and the device shut off at the end of flashing the radio. i think that it's supposed to reboot, or prompt.
the phone is dead.
So you flashed it in recovery... Time to work on that JTAG.
yah, flashed in recovery, not fastboot.
Jtag? Any links?
thanks
Weird I might say? I flashed mine in recovery and it was fine. And JTAG is a year old method manually tricking the device to boot up being bricked. Google it. Like I said, its really old. Good luck.

I recently installed CM7 after rooting my phone with Superoneclick and installing Clockworkmod. However, after installation of CM7, i managed to boot up the system, played around with it and realised that i needed to install the google addon as well. So i rebooted the phone to enter into CWM recovery, however the problem started.
My phone is now stucked on the LG logo screen and would not change. I left the phone in that state till the battery went dead. Recharged the phone and it remained on that screen.
Tried to connect the phone to the PC to flash it with smartflash, but it doesnt work at all. I removed the battery and held the volume down button while plugging in the usb cable. All i see is the phone stucked on the white LG logo screen.
Is there any way that i can reformat the contents of the phone or is my phone certified?
All help would be much appreciated!
Power up directly to cwm by pressing power button and volume down key at the same time.
Once in cwm, full wipe including /system and reflash cm and gapps.
Good luck.
I have tried that method as well. Sorry. Forgot to mention it in my initial post. It didn't work. I have tried to pull the battery, hold down the volume down and power button for at least 20 times now. Each time i get the same screen. The CWM menu does not come up.
Any other ways?

Hmm.....if u can't power to cwm directly then perhaps try smartflash to any stock rom.
1. Download any stock rom
2. Start smartflash app from pc
3. In power off mode, just press volume down to boot to software update screen. Start smartflash stock rom.
4. Boot up stock rom
5. Install rom manager and flash cwm from rom manager. (Or download cwm from Rusty! Cwm thread)
6. Boot to recovery
7. Flash cm rom
8. Flash gapps
Remove battery, hold both vol buttons and plug in USB. Screen should stay blank, but Windows will pick up an APX device. Now NVFlash back to stock and start again.
yup, tried the exact method that you suggested too. But it doesnt work. Still gets stuck at the LG logo.

This method worked! But i have another problem, windows found an APX device, tried to install it but failed. It says driver was not found. Do i have to install a specific driver for this to work? Thanks!
Yes, good point: http://android.modaco.com/topic/335...k-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/
I have managed to flash the phone and it is back working now. Thank you so much for your help rusty and temasek!
Hi, first post, hope the thread is not too old.
Unfortunately this is my best chance.
I have the same problem on my O1:
Updated from mik's beta 6.5.7 to beta 6.5.8 with the clockwork manager, at the reboot, I was stuck on lg logo.
Unfortunately usb + both volume buttons didn't work.
It remains still at the lg logo.
Pressing home + both volume, it repeately reboots.
In every case I can't go in recovery mode, so I can't wipe the system folder.
Any help will be appreciated,
thank for your time!
PS: sorry, maybe thread in p500, cm7 will be more appropriate.
hold power button + volume down button for 5-10 seconds may work, phone will reboot into recovery mode, then you are able to flash a stock rom or restore your nandroid-backup (if you made one)
good luck, hope it helps you
thanks, I saw a useful post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18531050#post18531050
Then I proceded as you wrote.
Now I'm stuck at adroid logo, without the chance to wipe cache.
The recovery does not start: loading bar and then forced reboot...
I don't know what to do
nvflash
maybe you try this link
android.modaco.com/topic/335416-nvflash-setup-instructions-drivers-links-active/
Sorry, i don't get the link working, copy it in your browser, then it should work (i'm posting with my phone that's why the link is'nt correct, but it works with browser, i tried it out)
If the link doesnt work, search 'nvflash lg p990 instructions' with google, you'll see the modaco website with the instructions and the download links

Thank you. A few hours ago, I managed to make it working.
Thanks for your answers, I appreciated.
nvflash is the way to go. Always make sure to use the usb ports on your motherboard (back of your computer) and not some usb hub or so.
Had a black screen for 8 hours, not able to boot, flash, recover or anything.
Changed usb port and I was able to flash the phone again.
Hello everybody,
I have a question regarding the actual situation of my phone since nobody on here seemed to had the same issue.
My diagnosis is that my phone is softbricked.
If I try to boot it normally the first Galaxy S logo appears but when the loading animation is supposed to begin, it doesn't. Additionally my phone vibrates one time with a logn vibration and after half a second with 3 short vibrations, looping on this situation.
Neither download mode or recovery mode button combo seems to work.
If I start with one of the two and release the keys as soon as the first logo appears it will be stuck at boot vibrating as above, if i don't release them, it just keeps rebooting.
Do you think I could get out of this with a download mode usb jig?
Thanks in advance
Soft brick......Yes to the jig.......try adb commands if you can get a connection..."adb reboot download"
Edit: Also have you read the many other attempts to try get to download... without battery but plugged in then combo, holding combo then putting battery in (no cable), finally cable and battery in then combo... i think there are a few more....
Also i hope you came across this
Telling us what you have done to your phone will help greatly!
What rom on /from, kernel, theme - what were you doing when it went tits-up?

try removing your battery for a few seconds. then hold down the vol down+power+menu then insert the battery while holding the 3 buttons to display the download mode.

I was on a stock 2.2 rooted room and I was following the guide to install cyanogenmod which is placed in the cyanogenmod wiki site...
after I flashed the speedmod kernel with hemdall, I got stuck in this situation.
