Okay a few weeks ago I got a text from AT&T saying there was a new update. It gave me a link to go to, so I went and I downloaded the LGMobile Support Tool from that site. I run it, and this is all I've ever been able to get.
http://screencap.net/f/433834bf.png
It just gets about that far and sits there.
I would love to be able to update my phone but I'm stuck. Any help?
Are u in USB debug?
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA
Yea. But I don't have my phone plugged in when I run it.
Well I just disabled USB debug and plugged the phone in. Still no.

your phone has to be in download mode to get there remove the battery hold volume + and power at the same time then plug usb in and wait 3-5 seconds insert battery till phone vibrates and release volume and power button phone should not turn on just stays dark and in the device manage in the ports (com lpt) you should see omap4430 or lg device i cant remember but when you are there try the update
That's not wat I did I just put debug it crashed a couple of times but after a while worked fine
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA
Well it's not doing this while I'm updating the phone it's doing this while I'm installing the LGMobile Support Tool software itself
Isn't there a way I can just get a kdz file and flash it manually?
Yup
Guide Here

While your at it just snag V21e since it has the least issues with Ghost Calls.

you need the lg pc suite to update with. get it here
install it and connect your mobile to the pc using the usb cable.
remember to connect the usb cable between mobile and pc BEFORE you turn on the mobile.
if you do not do it correctly, the S/W upgrade menu will not appear, and update might fail (which i believe you seen now?)
(hold VOL- pressed, when you turn on the mobile, and S/W upgrade will appear, otherwise try again)
from here, the pc suite will guide you through the upgrade. i might be missing that you need to select mobile upgrade from the menu, but that is just a matter of selecting it

I suggest you to follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264289
The only two different things are that you have to download and select the proper kdz for ours p880 and also insert the battery between fourth and fifth step ( when you reached the s/w upgrade mode ), otherwise the flash won't finish ( at least, for me it was so ).
PS: obviously in step 4 you have to keep pressed "vol-" and, at the same time, plug in the usb cable.

i can confirm when you connect the USB cable you only need to keep VOL- kept down and do it within 2-3 seconds or it will not boot up.
but power button is not needed for f/w upgrade mode.
yeah, I did not remember exactly if i pressed the power button or not
Is that all? Download LG PC suite and then connect USB? I tried that and got the S/W upgrade please wait while upgrading... but its taking forever.
ps: this is my first time rooting/flashing a phone.

Hmm, tried updating with LG software, didn't work. Then I tried the method explained here:

and it got to

and it has been stuck there since 10-15 minutes.
I am trying to update a sample with a pre-release firmare (V09b) from March 28 to the European V10 KDZ file. Any suggestions? Thx!
Update: I pulled the plug after it has been stuck at the same point for more then 30min, it updated the baseband to V10B, but the software version is still V09B...Damn....

Out of curiosity: Why does it? Sounds strange, that just an su binary and superuser access changes anything related to upgrading?

The same error here, and my phone is a developer edition? How to solve it? Can you flash the rom sucessfully?
I invite you to test the tool which downloads the original KDZ file to your phone P880. Especially those who have the DEVELOPER VERSION.
How to use?
Well, In the top field, put the model in this case, LGP880.
In the field below, enter the number of the IMEI (This code is located behind the device, removing the battery you can see a white sticker with a number)
Whoever can download the KDZ, give an answer here. I have a device developer version, I and my colleague are testing whether there are differences between versions of files KDZ developer of the definitive versions.
Please DO NOT try flashing the rom until I can test it, my phone is already bricked, if it works for me, then I'll tell you.
Download the program here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=592871&d=1305116848
Hmm, I tried the app but it does not seem to find anything for me...
I contacted LG Singapore stating that bought the device but was not able to update the device. Informed that the upgrade tool showed the error. I asked to check the IMEI of my device. Maybe they release the update, if this process succeeds, simply register the device by LG. I may be talking nonsense, but it never hurts to try.

Hey everyone.
I have the LG Thrill (P925) from AT&T. I'm used to changing roms and trying new things.
Well today I get a text from AT&T saying ICS is out, so I go and download the LG Mobile Support Tool
like the text says. The first few times don't work. I got stuck at the LG boot logo. (I didn't wipe the phone before.)
So I wait an hour to 1.5 hours. Still nothing. I try again and search the forums while I wait. Someone says to try using XP.
So I try in XP mode under Win 7. Everything is going well up until 90%. It does the whole driver disconnected sound as per normal
but then it happens. My phone starts up and shows the LG logo for 3/4ths of a second and then restarts (Black screen for 2 seconds) and
then repeats the whole process over again. What can I do?
(EDIT: Almost forgot: I was on CM7 when I tried to go to Official ICS)
All from the official LG tool...
SOLVED
After trying a few things I held the Volume up button and the power button to get it recognized by the computer. Then
I found a different copy of the LG Mobile support tool than what was on their site. I used the recovery phone option and it worked!
Hopefully this will help someone. I'll post where I got the tool soon.
Could you please give a link or tell me where you got the other lg mobile support tool. Because everything was going good for me and my phone restarted after it was done updating. But when it restarted it got hung up at the att animation and it just stays there... The way I got the official lg mobile support tool to recognize my phone was to put it into download mode also.
I got the KDZ_Flashing_Software.zip from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191698
Install the msxml from the zip then you can use the B2CAppSetup program.
Hope it helps.

I know it's something I did, probably the custom image I had running, but the LG Support Tool totally borked my phone. My Thrill would only stay on for a split second, and would continuously boot cycle when plugged into USB. The boot cycle was so fast that half the time it wouldn't even get to the LG logo!
Fixed it with fastboot (omap4boot) and SmartFlash Tool. What a nightmare. Only good thing is I was able to flash from BIN file directly to ICS.

Thanks for your help too. Obviously these issues stem from the fact that we used custom roms on the Thrill. It doesn't help that the LG Tools are complete software crap.

noope still stuck at the lg screen
Well it's not the first time i switch roms on my optimus 4x, but this time i've been banging my head against the wall for more than 6 hours trying to figure out what's wrong. So the phone was running CM 10.1 for about 2 months and i wanted to return to the stock jelly bean, i used the kdz update method exactly as shown in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723. I tried it a couple of times, and each time the phone reboots and gets stuck at LG boot animation. So i tried to use the official LG mobile support tool and use the upgrade recovery method, it downloads the firmware and installs it to the phone but the same happens, the phone reboots and gets stuck at the boot animation. I've tried the kdz method about 3 times again to ensure i did everything right, then tried the LG mobile support tool for a last time and just the same happens. Now i'm enable to open the phone. I can still get to S/W upgrade mode though. So i really need help here because i've tried everything i know and failed, i need to get my phone functional again ASAP. Thanks.
@difovo
When you flash KDZ most of the Times you get bootlop just do a hard reset in recovery and you are good to go.
The same thing is also mentioned almost at the end of that post.

Got the same thing also made a thread about it but nobody knows how to fix it and i tried every tool available if i connect it to LG Mobile support tool it says LGE455 while it is a P880 and no it's not a driver issue.

Really I'm thinking not explain to me how my lg g4 phone can boot into recovery manually when i relocked the boot loader through adb.
All I have is down load mode No regular O.s boot no fast boot mode
Its all secure boot error 1003
I download the kdz 20i from auto primes code fire link that's the only kdz for 20i around .
The issue is lg up tool sees my device as Unknown model because I was on a ROM when this happened apparently there's no fix unless you can boot into the O.s and edit the ROM

This is impossible lg bridge is not a semi brick or full brick fix tool its a upgrade tool from what I see
lts for a device that's in a bootable operating state allowing firmware upgrade .
It can only read in a device in mtp mode If you only have download mode that doesn't help at all Withp lg bridge The unknown device model issue is only seen with the Other tool Caller Lg up.

I made a mistake when upgrading my phone from LP to MM and accidentally left my Bootloader locked when trying to upgrade, nearly bricking my phone. I was receiving a 1003 error every time I tried to boot. I posted this in a different thread last month for someone else who had the same problem.
I had this exact same issue when upgrading my phone. Didn't do it correctly and it took me about 3 hours before I got my phone working again. It was about a week ago on another computer, but I'll try to recall what I did when it finally clicked in my mind.
Download H81120i_00_0201.kdz flashable zip from here (1.6GB Feb-04-16):
http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime.../H811/H81120i/
Download LGUP and install it. I used the DropBox link in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/h...mm-lp-t3249803
Remember to install the LGUP_8994_DLL file BEFORE LGUP_Install
Download and install LG Bridge (for the USB drivers) here:
http://www.lg.com/uk/support/pc-suite
Select the LG 815 model, the drivers will work. I only used the LG Bridge to install the USB drivers. Nothing else.
OK, now here's where your phone comes in.
Step 1: Turn off your phone (pull the battery if you must, but put it back in).
Step 2: Hold the VOLUME UP button and plug the USB cable into your PC. This puts your phone into DOWNLOAD MODE.
Step 3: On your PC, open up LGUP. The program shoud recognize the phone as H811 in COM3 or COM4. Highlight it and click the SELECT button.
Step 4: Under the "Process" row, select UPGRADE
Step 5: Click the blank space under File Path, it will pop up a [...] [X] at the end. Click the [...].
Step 6: Select the H81120i_00_0201.kdz and click on Start. The program will push the STOCK H811 MM ROM to your phone. This will bring your phone out of Brick mode, but you will have to go through the entire rooting process again.

Once again I was on a ROM when in did all this if it wasn't for that fact Lg Up would see my device model as h11 not unknown
So tell me how to get past the Unknown device model issue due to bring on a Custom Rom when this happened

The issue lies in step 3
The phone doesn't recognize as h811 it is as unknown model
If you know a way around that I'd love to know because every day I Go to snap the phone in half and recycle it as trash I stop my self thinking maybe one person will get that I was on a ROM when this happened and have a solution for Lg up to see my device as h811

That sounds like a driver issue. When I did mine I was also on a custom ROM. I had to manually remove all LG drivers via the Device Manager and install the LG Bridge for its LG USB drivers before the LGUP tool would recognize it. Before I did that it wouldn't even see my phone.

I would like to think that butt LG up is evidently seeing a connection from my phone to the PC it's just reading the device model as unknown because if I unplug the phone it goes back to reading nothing I plug it back in pops up red box model unknown I know it's reading the phone in LG up because it actually tells you the ROM it detects which is Xtreme ROM by micro mod
Not only that LG Mobile support tool read my phone and says software is up-to-date LG flash tool 2014 attempts to flash but fails because it is not compatible apparently with Android 6.0
Nlg bridge when I try to use that tool sees my phone when I choose update recovery error and says there are no recoveries to update I don't believe it's a driver issue I think it's the fact that I'm stuck on a ROM that is edited in some fashion that will not allow the tool to to proceed to the next step and if you look at the LG up thread it talks about a member explaining about the unknown device model issue is due to the ROM developer editing his ROM name somehow
Everyone that has gotten past the unknown device model happen to have an unlocked bootloader or was just trying to do a regular upgrade and still had an OS to boot into there's just no way around this mess
