I replaced my original working Contacts.apk and Phone.apk after being tempted by some claims of GS3 equivalents or orignal.
Now, i cant search contacts and cant dial.
Is there any way I can restore/ reinstall the original apps?
I had installed Rocket Rom V7.
I tried flashing again, didnt work.
Thanks in advance.
You'll need a root explorer. Navigate to system/app and copy and paste these files there (Remove the [1] at the end) and reboot.

I'm pretty sure that its not possible to paste these back in place, the only way to restore working usage is to factory reset.
It depends if you're getting fc when trying to access the contacts and dialler, or if you go through messaging, does it bring up the dialler OK?

Yes you can, you just need root. I did the same thing but luckily I backed up the original APKs.

Hello,
I have a problem with my ATT Captive Android 2.1 phone.
I know (now) I did a stupid this:
Using Titanium Backup I did remove some ATT apps and also I removed google voice.
Then I start getting error message
the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectly.
I did Factory restore didn’t help and also at that point I couldn’t download any apps from the Market.
Did some research and I’m not the only one who uninstall it
So I reinstall them in order found on this site (Thank you very much)
TalkProvider.apk
GTalkService.apk
Talk.apk
And phone woks OK until I restart it, getting message again and have to reinstall
TalkProvider.apk
GTalkService.apk

How I can fix it, please help.

Factory reset won't restore things you have deleted from the phone.. You're probably going to have to Odin to get things back to normal.
I did it, no help at all, maybe I load the wrong one I found Odin one click in dev forum on this site.

That's the right one. Did you do a master Clear as well? If so and you are still having issues I bet you have corrupted NAND memory and need a new phone.
How to make the master reset?

Thanks SOOOO MUUCHHHH!!!!!! ^
I was going through my phone and deleting bloatware. I deleted those three talk apps and was flustered after I realized what I had done. I put those three back in the designated folder system/apps. Everything works perfect again.
GENIOUS!!! I thought I would have to flash my phone again!!! Thnx so much!
I granted the correct permissions to the 3 files after copying them to the System folder, then MOVED them to system/apps and VOILA! It´s done!
I feel so stupid. Should have backed up before trying to do this, but...
I was trying to upgrade my TouchWiz30Launcher.apk but I gave up, unfortunately, i did rm Touch*.apk. I have no idea what the h311 I was thinking, but luckily I only lost the calculator and the calendar. I found the stock calculator apk and put it back. Works fine, but I am having trouble with the calendar. I was having trouble finding the right one and it foobared the app. It is no longer in the installed list and not executable anymore.
ANY help would be appreciated. Freaking out a bit as I like my calendar. Gahhh!
Thanks all.

I flashed it as an OTA upgrade (well, using the Samsung crap). I don't have the original flash file.
I've tried to execute the .apk and it goes and looks like it is trying to install and then says (with a check mark mind you) Application not installed. How awesome is that.
Any other ideas?

I think if you flash the firmware via Odin without repartitioning, you'll get the Samsung apps reinstalled and user data not wiped

Well, I tried that. I found a file in what I think is a compatible firmware and pulled the TouchWizCalendar.apk on to my sdcard and copied it to the /system/app folder. Doesn't seem to work. It's like it's not there. I tried to rename the TouchWizCalendar.odex file to TouchWizCalendar.odex.bak too without success.
Is there something that I'm missing?
Perhaps someone with 2.3.3 and Titanium Backup could backup the app and send it to me? TB can restore an app that isn't on the system, right?

Oh I'm sorry, if only there was some way to find and download the stock firmware for the i9000 and i9000m, which is listed in a thread dedicated to stock firmware for the SGS.
I backed up and then deleted the stock Android mms apk after installing chomp. I now can send but not receive any text messages. I have tried to restore with titanium but it just hangs during the restore. Anyone have any suggestions? I have also tried pulling the app from a downloaded ROM but it won't install.

Reflash the current ROM your on
Yeah I was hoping to find a way other than starting from scratch again. Trying to remember if I can push the app using adb. I'm too tired for this right now.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
As long as you don't wipe it won't make you start from scratch if you flash the rom again..it'll just replace with stock kernel and bring back all the previous apps but you won't start from scratch .have you tried installing it with something like root explorer or root browser if you're not familiar with adb

Hello, anyone else having the same problem as me and please help offer solutions.
My Contacts APPs keep FC most of the time when a call comes in. When this happens, usually I will not see the caller ID (only the number is displayed, not the names in my contact list). Sometimes the phone just hang and reboot and I believe the Contact is messing up the phone. Call logs will not show until the Contact apps run again after a few mins.
I saw post somewhere that this happens when contact list gets big and I follow the instruction to completely clear my contacts and restore them. But this does not help.
Phone is not having problem when I was in GB rom (2.3.5 and 2.3.6) and problem exist after upgrade to ICS. I tried 2 different ICS rom from different region (4.0.3), the same happens. Recently upgraded to 4.04. Problem remains.
I even downgrade back to GB. Clear cache, factory reset. Restore to ICS 4.0.4. I use Titanium to restore all apps and phone data. Problems still there.
I reflash the above again, this time only restore the apps and not phone data. This doesn't help.
Am at a lost what to do now? Everything runs fine except the Contact.

This is more of a workaround than a fix...
I've had this issue with contacts and then usually dialler gets problems. How are you adding your contacts, from a Google account? If so, try clearing the data and cache on both the contacts app and contacts storage app, then re sync your contacts, let me know if it helps.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I've tried your suggestions before but problem still exist. I'm using Samsung contact to do a backup/restore. I've tried before GO's contact and Superbackup. None solve the problem.
Currently, I just tried this method below to disable the Sync contact settings. Let's see if this will work.

There might be some permission error. If you are rooted then try extracting the contacts.apk, contacts.odex files from Stock ROM package and push it into system app folder. it might help. for a safer side you can also copy Phone.apk files along.
I have looked everywhere for this, but cannot find it. I am not sure how, but the systemui.apk is no longer on my phone, and so all features that it controls are not working. Does anyone have the apk for the Note 1 N7000 jelly bean update that I can download? I am going crazy without my notification bar.
My kernel is 3.0.31-906407

I have done a factory reset, and tryed to replace it with apk's I have found. I looked at rooting the phone, but I need to ensure I have it till the 28th, when if I cannot fix it my husband will root it. Please let me know if you can help.
Thank you

How do you know systemuiapk is missing? I would expect that it would show a boat load of errors on boot up and not run. What are the symptoms?

It is not listed in the "All Apps" section of the apps manager.
Symptoms: When my phone rings the notification to tell me who is calling does not pop up. I have to go into the phone app to even see who is calling, much less answer the call.
My notification bar is gone.
When I get a text message my phone will vibrate, but not chime.
My wall paper is gone.
I have found threads about rooted phones where people have removed the systemui that this are the same symptoms they have. The problem is that they had the original rooted program they used, so can reinstall that. I cannot do that, as my phone is not rooted. That is why I think my systemui is gone.
Install root explorer and check in /system/app folder for the apk, or in /preload/symlink/system/app. If it's there in preload, you will need to create a symlink for that in system/app.

You won't be able to install it as you're not rooted and it requires administrator privileges. But it's there anyway so I don't think that's the issue.
When did it stop working and was there any app you installed beforehand?

Thats really strange... Try rebooting into recovery (Vol up, home and power held down until you see samsung logo) then choose wipe cache and reboot. I doubt that will fix it though.
Only other options I can see are to root device by installing phillz kernel, wipe cache and dalvik from recovery, or root device, reinstall the app and make sure permissions are correct, or wipe device and start from scratch.

You said you tried to replace it ? How? Do you have an odex or deoxed rom? Anyways you will need root access to resolve this issue if you dont want to go about reinstalling the rom again.

Stop playing with essential parts of your system if you have absolutely no idea of what you are doing.
To get back to a reliable configuration:
download a stock rom and install it following the instructions in Dr. Ketan's thread here.
After that: start to read and learn. High probability this will protect the life of your device.
