It still wasn't working. I needed to wipe data, uninstall both, install lite, then click on unlock in app and to download unlock to get it too work.
Ok now.
Thanks for quick response.

How much does this affect the battery?
I have been looking for something like this, but I am scared of purchasing a good app, just to have it kill my battery because the camera is always on.
Thanks

I'm curious as well.

Ya, it seems like it would do a number on a battery to keep the camera open, but also keep the CPU high doing processing.
Anyone using this program that could do like a couple 15 minute tests with the screen off and this program either running or not?

I've been using the old "smart stay" app for a handful of days, and I've seen no change in battery life.
From what I understand the App only uses the camera to snap a quick picture for face recognition half way through the screen time out time; if it sees one it restart s there timer. it also has a root option to only activate when the touch screen hasn't been used, which further reduced the frequency of camera use.

Downloading now

heh funny thing but doesn't work for me maybe because i'm ugly

Works well on Galaxy S II, but kill music player when lock. could you please fix it?

Very creative app!

[Q] How to let the gear stay on current app?

I've been playing with my Gear for a while. The biggest problem to me is, When I go for a run using runtastic or other app, when the screen times out and turns off, and I ust motion sensor to turn it back on, it goes to the clock but not the app I'm using. There seems no way to keep the app on the front after screen off? Please help as it's really annoying and I can't believe Samsung fail to design this.
Appreciate it.

Same here... I'm really hoping Samsung just rushed the watch, and this isn't what they would consider a 100% finished product. Hopefully they're writing updates as we speak to fix a few of the issues. I can do more on my old original Sony SmartWatch than I can on a new more expensive device. Only thing the Gear does better is you can make calls on it.
Quick-ish workaround is to tap and hold 2 fingers on the screen to bring up the recent apps list.

Nice, that does make life a little easier. I just bought mine yesterday so I haven't read everything about the watch. Thanks for the tip!

Overall I love the device, but it's definitely rough around the edges. To me this issue one of the more disappointing things about the watch so far. If I am using Media Controller to listen to music, it's really annoying not to have it there when I want to go back to use it, and that goes for just about any other app I'd like to use. For Samsung all it really would have taken was a simple check box somewhere that says something like "default to watch face upon wake," and if that was unchecked, whatever you were doing last would just stay there on the watch the next time you looked at it.
Really the point of having a watch like this is to make it easy for you to do whatever you want to do. My guess is that most people who buy a $300 accessory to their phone like this are doing it hoping to smoothly interact with good apps. So every time you start to want to enjoy an app, you are consistently reminded that this watch wants to be a watch more than it wants to help you do whatever you're doing with it. In my mind, constantly defaulting back to the watchface everytime it goes to sleep and wakes up is a huge bug, not the feature Samsung probably thought it would be.
Anyway, I've used the recent apps two fingers shortcut a fair amount, but I have found it was just best to switch to the watch face that has the shortcuts on it. (In the Galaxy gear manager clock choice menu, it's called "Shortcut Clock," right above the Watchstyler)
Ideally I would rather use a custom watch face without the shortcuts. But for now, choosing 3 shortcuts for my most commonly used apps at least makes it easier to get back to what I was doing, and it's one less step then the two finger recent app workaround.

This is possible when using GM Gesture, create a gesture for a "home" action and replace the hardware key bind to a power only.
The hardware key serves two purposes, a home button & power button. I simply have removed the home button functionality and made a gesture for it.
I leave applications up all the time, especially timer functions.

The Galaxy Note 3. I upgraded from the Note 2, and bought the watch at the same time. Yesterday was my last day to return the watch and I was very close to returning it, but decided to hope for updates soon. I loved the Note 2, and now the Note 3. It shows me Samsung can build a great mobile product, so I hope the watch becomes more useful in the future.

4.4.2 Vs 4.2.2 is it worth the switch?

I've seen posts of several loving 4.4 and others going back to 4.2. Is it worth it? Battery life? Are there known bugs and issues?
Imo, its still very much subjective. As much as I've frequented here throughout the years,I would probably still be considered a noob. With that being said, here are my thoughts
Initially I was regretting the update. My battery life being terrible was my biggest gripe. I decided to root it only three days of having the stock 4.4 rom. Once I did that, my battery life levels returned to 4.2 levels. I'm getting about 15 hours off a single charge which is huge for me. Not sure if rooting actually made the difference but that's the only thing I changed after I initially made the switch.
Plus I love the new camera app which isn't offered for 4.2. I just wish Google incorporated a long press to kill apps feature. Seems like the only way you can get that is through a custom rom
Also, my screen rotation seems to be broken. It works on certain apps and not on others. It will work if I click on a video within flipboard, but not in my picture gallery. I can deal with it for a while but not too much longer

You may want to look into xposed framework and either wanam or gravitybox. It will give you your long press back to kill along with a while host of other features. I could never live on a stock ROM without one of those.

Honestly, no. That's really weird that it's hit or miss like that. There's a reason they pulled that update, though. I'm wondering if there's not different hardware revisions or something and 4.4.2 just works better with some than others. Only suggestion I could make is make a nandroid, do a factory reset, and see if that fixes it. If not, just restore your backup.
Did you make any other modifications or delete any system apps after rooting?

No idea how or why that might make a difference, but I made a backup of mine with Titanium Backup and I've attached an archive with the files in it. You can use that to reinstall it. I just froze all the stupid system apps on my phone. I figured it was safer that way. Anyway, let me know if that works. Hope it does.

System apps live on a different partition from your regular apps and so do their .dex files (for odexed roms, which stock usually is). So no, unless you need to push some apps (supersu? ) to the /system/ partition, there is no need to free up space. Just uninstall updates and freeze.

New Features of Android Lollipop 5.x

What the title says. Write your findings and differences.
OP will be updated thanks to your contributions and suggestions. Special thanks to all contributors.
This will help in an easy way to locate what has changed for our beloved Note's.
1)-I find fingerprint sensor much more accurate.
2)-I personally find that phone gets a little warm while charging (N910C)
3)-Phone app seems faster but had 2 hangs to closing the line. Red button was not responding.
I had a clean install.
4)-You can now change colours in folders in the app drawer and homescreen.
5)-Now third party apps optimized for LP can write to ExtSDcard.
6)-a. Settings-security-trusted agents : enable smart lock
b. Smart lock now appears under settings-security.
7)-MISSING: RAW implementation is NON existent in N4. Samsung dropped the ball. Oops.
8*)-"Recent" apps remain after a reboot.
9-) Added battery drain. Internet hogging apps keep continually connecting.

[Request] Galaxy S7 Always on display?

So the Galaxy S7 has now been announced, and one of the new features is a clock which is always displayed on the screen. Obviously, this would be possible with our phone too as it has the same OLED display. Does anyone know of an app that does this, or could anyone make a simple one like it?
Source: http://www.theverge.com/2016/2/21/1...y-s7-edge-smartphone-announced-specs-mwc-2016

Try out this app DynamicNotifications. Available on PlayStore. Does work like S7. The only issue is it drains battery quite a lot. Probably coz digitiser is always on. It would be good if someone could turn off the digitiser. Coz I am pretty that's the reason for battery drain. After all both S7 and S6 use same S-AMOLED.
I am currently having a battery drain of 3%/30mins (WiFi on). I think rather than an app, we need a custom kernel.
Try out these two apps.
Glance and Off Clock. Very similar functions, it doesn't consume a great deal of battery life.

not quite the same thing. the wave thing was anyways there by default. what we need is a true 'always on' display app. we need a kernel actually. no way to turn off digitiser.

What do you mean? Both of those applications support always on clock, with Glance supporting notifications. It's minimal battery consumption, the only downside is that with "Off Clock", you have to first open the app than lock the screen then press the home button to activate it, but other than that it works the same way, just without the customisations.

The clock moving randomly was only added in the most recent version, if you can find the previous version, the clock will stay in the same place.
I'm on the hunt, kept being brought to websites that I didn't think I could trust. You're welcome to try and find the order version. I think it's 2.2 unless the developer went from 1.0 to 2.3

I'm using Off Clock since it has white outline around the black text which is better for battery life
just wait for the S7 ports and you probably will get most of these features.
We won't be able to use Samsung Pay, if we install a custom rom
Ported app, not rom. It can be just like an app that you install. If they make it like that. I don't think there's a real reason that it needs any system permissions.

You can get same thing at cost of battery, anyone can get same thing at cost of battery(more on ips), but both G5 and S7 has an auxiliary processor which are very low powered and can only handle to show clock, these are very helpful, as main processor is very powerful and will consume lot of power even at lower Frequency. So basically you cannot port the hardware. You can do at cost of battery

Actually S6 too has low powered CPUs. And plus it has AMOLED. So you can pretty much make it work for S6 with minimal effect on battery as long as the digitiser is off.

[App]: Always On Display - All AMOLED Devices

Greetings all,
What is it ?
I found this application in the Goole Play store which simulates the "Always On Display" feature for all AMOLED devices.
It is basically turns all pixels in AMOLED screen into black except the selected pixels for the clock. Yes it works with all kind of screens however it causes battery drain for non AMOLED screens.
Issues:
- Doesn't work well with fingerprint as you need to tap the home button every time you need to open the screen
- Doesn't work with 3rd party lock screen apps.
note:
Please note that I'm not the developer, I just know the developer and I can communicate with him issues.
or you can directly do so in the comments section in the Play Store

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any option to automatically move the clock around the screen. It gives you the option to have it be on the top center or bottom of the screen, but no option to automatically move it around to prevent burn-in.
I would love to be proven wrong, cause I really want this app to work and not burn my screen! But I don't see the option, and thus far it's not moving on it's own...

I have done but the drain tends to be the same either way.
Amplify has had a good impact on my phone but at the moment i don't use that either, for me it's really about the apps that want to constantly update, so facebook, twitter etc.
Is this different with our default clock's "night mode"?
night mode also automatically move the time.
any tap on the screen will return it to the lockscreen, if its locked, returns to the clock menu if unlocked.
Nice app, but could have more customization options, such as changing the battery icon and much more! But i liked of this app
This app is working great on my Pixel XL. Disabled all the gestures for "waking" the phone up as I have fingerprint scanner.
