Since the original Samsung Galaxy S has the same screen size and resolution as the Optimus Black, is it possible that I could take an APK's (like browser.apk or mms.apk) from the Galaxy S and copy it to the Optimus Black? Would just copying and pasting the APK's in system/app be enough or would modifying of the APK be necessary?
It should work and you should change permissions to
Rw
R
R

Great! But, how do I change the permissions?

With Root explorer (or buy, or cra*ked)

You'll need to modify the apk's which are depending on Touchwiz framework. I found a tuto some time ago. When on computer I'll give you a link.

used almost 10 custom roms based on cm7. but the pattern lockscreen on all these roms are quite ugly and unusable because the dots are too close and big... can some one suggest a way out ??
i don't want to use apps like go locker or magic locker foe pattern lock as they unnecessarily consume ram..
please help !!!
Good question. Hope someone has an answer.

Which ones and where? I've checked SystemUI and framework-res.

Framework-res.apk
Will give detailed guide later
Also maybe modify keyguard.xml
And remove the clock from patterlock
It might give u some more space
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
Yep don't need the clock either.
The pattern lock is the one ugly thing on CM7.2 and as a result I stopped using it.

Hi, all.
I seem to be running into some issues with trying to change wallpapers.
I'm using GO LAUNCHER EX, and have no problems changing wallpapers that come with the themes, but it seems actually customizing the wallpaper is giving me the issue.
I've tried a few wallpaper apps, all of which close themselves when I hit the "set as wallpaper" button. Not sure what the issue is with these apps. The latest one I put on here is Pic Speed, I believe it's called, does the same thing. Am I suck with manually changing wallpapers by changing out the wallpaper files in the themes res folder or am I doing something wrong with these apps?

Download an app called "Backgrounds HD wallpapers". You will love the choices.

Push it to /system/app/ using Root explorer or similar app.. Then change the permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot
Ok, so I downloaded root browser lite and moved theme chooser apk file in system/app and changed permission to rw-r--r-- and rebooted. Theme chooser wasnt in my app drawer, so I tried to install it from system/app but it still gives me "not installed" message

A:Maybe take framework res.apk from the rom on the phone and change the images in the folders with 7zip....one way..
[mod] LG G2 Keyboard Install
1. Place Rom *.zip in to your internal sdcard
2. In CWM Recovery Flash Rom *.zip from sdcard

644 is -rw-r--r--
.so files move to lib folder - set premissions to 644
.apk files move to app folder - set premissions to 644
After that delete or remove your original LGIME.apk and LGIMEI.odex files, reboot your phone and thats it, u have new keyboard
