All ICS are unable to use meta trader 4 , the app will flash back to home screen occasionally..ops. frequently and this is the most app i needed. So i choose to stay with GB until this problem fixed.

wes u were on sharp right, any difference between sharp and Ice cold now?
i think this thread wud b better if users could share what bugs they found using each diff ICS rom. that way we can filter and make the decisions for ourselves to try using the roms.
as of now i believe my biggest concern is the camera zoom. if that works, the rom does not reboot randomly and 90% of native/basic functions work.. thats the ICS rom im looking for! any so far? hahaha

Yea bro, on Sharp everything works without any third party app whatsoever. But on ice cold sandwich camera don't work very well as you can't record videos except with third party app like video cam illusion which is still nothing compare to Sharp, also there is the occasional text rendering issue which is still manageable compare to other ics roms. Every other function works on ice cold with the the use of third party app for example native WiFi don't work except with apps like open garden.
My personal opinion.
Sharp is still the fall back Rom that you can rely on when the chips are down.
ICS stability, ice cold sandwich 8.0 by elol is still the best for me, a lot of folks claim they have sdcard issues but not me.
The closet ICS Rom to this is Qiss me Rom which I've been using for close to 3weeks now with no problems at all only that the RAM is a lil bit low I guess compare to other Roms but its still very very good.
I've not tried out the new hybrid as I like to take my time to access and thoroughly test Roms before flashing them.
I'm also watching the milestone closely, observing peoples comment and all. Still some minor bugs keeping me from flashing.
This is just my personal opinion, hope it helps bro.

I would recommend Ice Cold Sandwich 8.0
I would recommend Ice Cold Sandwich 8.0. Smoothest ROM I ever used in Ginger Bread and ICS ROMS. Only had two issues
1. With the incoming and outgoing call volume - Fix suggested by Paarkhi worked like a charm
2. Front camera image inverted...waiting for a fix on it
Rest all works great.

I think we will receive an official update. Many comopanies sell this phone under different names. Also there is Motorola which sells this as Triumph , and now Moto has been bought by google so it raises our chances a lot
The only thing I'm worried about is that triumph is not GSM (according to gsmarena)
so its OS may not be compatible with ours.

If we demand a stable release then we will have to wait for few months, I guess.

Once CM is ported for ICS, it should not be much difficult for porting it to devices.
Till then wait.

Ice Cream Sandwich changelog
The Ice Cream Sandwich version reportedly contains the best of both Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and Android 3.0 (Honeycomb). Here's the list of new features as well as improvements:
A new font optimized for HD displays.
Possibility of eliminating hardware buttons in favour of software buttons (like the Nokia N9).
Interactive notifications and resizable widgets.
Ability to access apps directly from the lock screen (Similar to HTC's Sense 3.0 UI).
Introduction of Android Beam, which uses Near Field Communication (NFC) to pair devices (as seen in Nokia's NFC-enabled devices).
Face detection, panorama mode, and time lapse video features for the camera app.
A new mail app allows you to search in offline mode, and a redesigned calendar app features a new swipe gesture for navigation.
Deep Google+ integration.
A facial detection feature to unlock the phone (similar to the FaceLock app in Symbian devices).
A data usage tracker to see how much data has been used over a period of time.

been away for a while, which rom is kickin?

hey guys, haven't touched my sgs1 in almost a year since I got my sgs2.. I'm currently on early 10.something, is darkyrom still the best? it gets pretty laugh.. have to restart it alot.. good battery life tho. so what's in top now, maybe cm7? Clare there different versions of cm7? (that has voodoo sound right?). anyone offer me a stable rom that won't run out of ram lol?
ill give thanks/rep to anyone who offers suggestions
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
There are quite a lot of ROMS to choose from. I have tried many of them myself, and am currently flicking between GALAXYDROID v 3.3 and SAUROM. I like the touches of galaxydroid yet like the stock feel of Saurom. I tried Darkys in many versions, and always found the battery life not too good.
Best way is to look at whats on offer, and give them all a bash. Each to their own end of the day.

Slim ICS good ?

Being ICS , it still has a bad camera right ? No radio either ? Please, please confirm so that I can install slim myself. Sick of GB. Heard a lot about Slim. Stock Calender and calculator would be good too. In fact camera like in Miui would be much much better then in ICS. Any suggestions ? Something out there ? XXJW4 is good but too moody! GB is much inferior to ICS for sure. But since no official ICS for i9000 the custom roms suffer from lack of source codes from Samsung. So any rom with Miui type camera but ICS ? Like a Hybridization ? I know XXLPH for sgs was being tried by Dhiru but it must be a challenge cause it is still stuck in pre alpha stage. Would appreciate any kind suggestions. Thanks !

Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Nope no FM radio, never tried spirit fm but everyone else says it works great. About the camera, it takes photos and videos, sure you don't get all the samsung focus effects and all that but oh well.
I guess if we buy an expensive smartphone we don't want to usually look for compromises ! ICS for SGS means comprising in lots of areas. Unfortunately. During the Symbian rule GB was a breath of fresh air. But within a very short span it belongs to the Jurrasic park now !
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
sgs is for ICS. count these mark. you will forget GB after using ICS. yes it is still in beta stage. but atleast a daily useable. and m a user of Slim ics. since it's release
till now everything is working. we have auto focus camera. no bugs at all. fm radio app from samsung is not in ICS yet but soon it will be. but you can use any third party app like spirit fm. yes fm radio works in ICS. Battery is far batter then GB. you have more ram then GB. what else do you need? i,m completely disagree with above post that you have to compromise on ICS.
Best ICS roms are:
AOKP
AOSP
Slim ICS
Infinituim
and many more with 4.0.4 base
they are meant for daily use
Thanks for yr reply.
When I said compromises I meant for instance the other day I could not take group pictures with me in cause my ( excellent ) ICS INFINITUM has no self timer. I have been using and deleting ICS since Alfa builds of CM9. So I know GM is miles behind ICS for sure. Okay, so the radio will come soon ( since u say so ) but full ICS camera for sgs ? Hardly. So, please tell me - don't u feel u have an incomplete phone in yr hand ? This works but that doesn't ! That's what I meant by compromising. Spend good money to partner with issues. Samsung is smart. They want us to spend money on their new phones ! At Apple , users can still update their 3G S !
Respect the developers but they their limitations too. That's why like MIUI roms. Not GB not ICS. But their own variation. Pity, battery life is so poor and besides no TV out.
Cheers !

TV-Out is Working in ICS roms Dude atleast in Infituium and Slim ICS AOKP. I said everything is working . and about the timer in camera, if i ever wanted to use it. i will install a 3rd party app called ''Cymera''. it's a cool app with all extra options. and No not at all. i never feel like that bro that m missing something in my ICS SGS. It keeps me happy all the time Samsung Camera App in GB can not be applied in ICS. but sooner we will have that in our roms too. You can easily see that the developmental Forum of SGS is to much active then any other forums. if you need a feature, go search in play market. there you will found out. besides these small issues, ICS had given alot of new features. for an instance, 400 mb of ram, It feels like a Galaxy Nexus S and great battery timing
if i need that feature in ICS (self Timer) i will go for a 3rd party app. nd will never wana switch to MIUI or GB based roms, Cuz ICS is far far better
Thanks man! I really appreciate yr input. Sick of GB ! Take care !

What's Your Favorite ROM, and Why?

Just wondering... what's your current favorite ROM for your Nexy, and why?
I used CM7 for most of my time owning my N1. Have it almost 2.5 years now. Very enjoyable experience.
Currently using MIUI GB 2.3.30, with Go Launcher and Neok kernel. I find it very stable and offers everything I need. I also enjoy the smoother experience GB offers for our device over ICS.
I also frequently try BCM ICS CM9, but always find myself reverting to MIUI as I miss working video camera and flash. Although gap is closing fast; flash now working, and video has just arrived.
Keeping a close eye on Sense 4 ROM too
What gets your vote?
PS hats off to all the rom cookers/developers for making the N1 so much fun to own

favorites...
gb = cm7>hypersense>miui>aosp in that order
ics = not much preference here but iirc I enjoyed the time I spent with TexasIce.

Which component of ICS that you are holding out for? I have been using ICS on a daily basis.
CM7 patched with PDroid and some solution to place apps in an dedicated partition on the SD card.
I'm currently working with both CyanogenMod7.2.0RC2 and BCMRC3.4Update1 .. I love having ICS working, but to be honest CM7 is better (i.e. more consistent and more stable) if this is your only phone.
I keep on messin' around and just assuming that one day I'll brick the device. That's OK though, a perfect opportunity to ditch AT&T once my GSM device is dead.
Anyway... here is question for you folks going back and forth between GB and ICS roms. Have you found a common internal partition size setup so you can simply nandroid restore back and forth? Or are you using BlackRose to resize each time?
i dont have a favor rom coz every 1 have some thing and not contained with other
now i'm using cm 7.2 its cool and the battery life is good
but the most thing i hate is call program (i dont know the true name) mean when someone call me his pic appear small and all that stile is ugly and cannot sync his facebook account with his name and pic
the sense roms give me a great call program and appear FB account ,....
but drain battery more and i think the camera quality is not good with all sense rom
so
1st - cm7.2
2nd - hyper supernova
ics waiting 4 stable
miui i dont like it
I usually stick with ICS layout when reverting back to CM7 or MIUI.
Now I'm back on BCM ICS

My favorites:
GB: cm7.2 RC - fast and stable
ICS: BCM passion - fast and many options
For those of you on BCM ICS, does it have trackball LED notification where you can set custom colors for different apps?
If not, would LightFlow work with BCM ICS? Thanks.
Haven't tried ICS yet, but as far as GB goes my fav is CM7.1

recommend??? well. i have tried some roms and all were good.

I love all the ics (BCM,Texasice, and Aokp) roms each have their own customization, very fast, and quite stable most of the time. I also like some of the gingerbread roms like cm7 and miui, they are very fast and have amazing battery life. Im not a big sense guy , but with sense 4.0 in dev i will prob give it a go . In the end the rom choice is up to the user.
m so happy
Ok I been using this phone for two years or so
I loved it and had my blue days
I have struggled with a2sd and etc
However I was always unhappy with not having the sense look
And now I am using this hyper sense nova Rom and I am in love with it
I get close to ten hours battery with light to moderate usage
I have a battery caluberation problem but once I solve it ill probably not switch
I am more interested in features than looking so I prefer CM 7.2
I'm running BCM myself (4.0U1 at the moment) but I keep a backup of CM7.2.0 in case anything goes bad.
I'd like to test MIUI someday but AFAIK greek language which I need is not supported, at least for ICS-based roms.

Best, Fastest Rom out there at the moment?

Hey guys, I've been changing roms alot recently and was wanting one that's nice and fast and has decent battery life.At the moment I have ARHD as I hear quite alot of good thoughts of it, but I think it's pretty average. It's slow and choppy. I've tried a reflash and I got rid of everything on my SD (I knew it wouldn't work, but thought I'd give it a shot)
So yeah, thoughts? Preferably one which has a kernel which supports OC'ing. Needs to be fast and nice to use, thanks all

Ice Cold Sandwich 8.3 - You will appreciate the potential and amazing-ness of Android since you have no Sense and its an AOKP/AOSP. Battery will last for 2 days minimum with v4 Kernel. I'd say try it out, you won't be disappointed...you'll find that Sense is a waste of space and battery.

Most of the times you can't record video, sometime it does but sometimes it record videos with strange lines.
I'll chip in with an opinion...
CM7.2 RC3!
I've been trying all the other roms that come out just for fun and some of them really are great but I can't help myself - I keep returning to CM7.2 after a week or so of each... It just works perfectly in every way, it's fast, stable and has a great battery life. Can't really ask for more. Second place is The Incredible 1.1 but that's not a surprise seeing as it is a mod of CM - the only thing not so great is the use of Launcher Pro instead of ADW but I guess that is down to personal choice.
Anyway, in the unlikely event of you not having tried CM7.2 I'd say fire it up

I read that a lot here.. that sense is a waste of battery but In my experience it has been the opposite. I had Ice Cold Sandwich for a few days and the battery life was terrible... Tried all the kernels with it...stock, tiamats, v3, v4 etc but no luck..changed radio to the latest but still the same battery drain problem... got frustrated so switched to sense with ARHD ..battery life way bettter..the best battery life i got was with NIK's trinity rom... but wanted ics so opted for arhd....

Don't know why you found battery life terrible...sometimes it's also a matter of what you like really...but once you try open Android you'll start fully appreciating it and start hating Sense from my experience...different people different opinions though.
The incredible 1.1: fully stable and using supercharger actually slows it down. It's lightning fast after install.
i too found that with the IceCold series up until 7.2/7.3 battery life was horrible. Sense roms seem to give a very good battery life lasting me well over a day. and i prefer the sense ui way better than stock aosp/aokp roms.
Well I'm back with ice cold and it is great! Haven't used it since 7.0 or somwthinf,... its just so much better compared to sense. Its faster and looks way nicer. Only thing is mms doesn't work. *sad face*

In IceCold 8.4 there's a solved MMS/SMS issue - at leat the one I had and I was one of the first people who experienced the problem in the first place. Plus if the automatic settings don't work out, the manual override is working without a glitch .... So it's fully working ROM for now but depends on how you install it/download it and other stuff.... It's all written in the thread but so far there's no other ROM that's as fast and as stable for me. Battery wise - I got through a full day of at least an hour talk time, browsing, WiFi moderate usage and I still have at least 50% when I get home. And my phone is on 3G/H mode all the time - on 2G/EDGE - it lasts two days :good: If that's bad you need Motorola Razr MAXX with the 3,3Ah battery

Don't know why you found battery life terrible...sometimes it's also a matter of what you like really...but once you try open Android you'll start fully appreciating it and start hating Sense from my experience...different people different opinions though.

Dont get me wrong.... I love the openness and customizability of asop aokp roms. But right now they lack the stability that i desire.

My own choice, you should try WE_WANT_ICS_V3_By_Nikhil007. I used it for a long time, stable, fast, smooth,no FC or Auto Restart and good battery life. I upgraded to V4,but I'm back to V3 now. ^_^

Already tried it and it is great, seriously. That and playground are the best ICS roms I've tried but I still found myself back on CM7 after a week or so... Probably because of the reason below:

Apart from CM7.2! As it's GB based it is rock solid and everything works flawlessly. I use maps a lot and MMS too a bit and the compass works perfectly in maps and MMS is not an issue. No FCs, no compatibility issues (the earlier ICS roms seemed to be incompatible with some apps but that seems to be resolved completely now) and just no worries at all.
It'll be a different story once the devs get hold of the kernal source of course... once that happens I'll be grabbing CM9 so fast it'll get whiplash!
The only gripe i have with AOSP/AOKP is the camera.
It just cant churn out the same quality that the sense roms can
