Watching HD movies through external hard disk? - Nexus 7 General

Nexus 7 is quite a beast, and it is most likely to be able to run HD movies in MKV format pretty smoothly. The problem is that it only comes in 8/16GB without microSD, making it difficult to store HD movies on the device.
So what about using USB OTG cable connected with external hard disk? Had anyone tried that yet? I wondered what it would be like to connect external hard disk to Nexus 7 and watch the movies directly from there. That would make Nexus 7 complete for me.

Edit: Further reading confirms that it is working for copying files to the built in storage. See: For those worried about lack of storage (USB-OTG discussion thread)

Im getting around 2MB/s transfering music with my diamond, Pictures seemed to be a tad faster
i just trying to format everything using the "Clear Storage".
So copying everything from the Diamond internal memory to PC. including 400MB MP3.
Good speed.
How fast can you get files to transfer over bluetooth?
copying back from PC to the Diamond is much slower, but acceptable.
Very good indeed, my current phone is only 500 KB/s.

no, but have read about other people doing it fine (google)
However, you need to reset the phone and redo all the settings.
Many folk seem you have taken the 8gb card out (O2 has 16gb) and replaced with 32gb on purchase. So they basically have a 32gb memory from the get go
Check the thread on this forum called "[Q] Why No Storage Card"
It works.

adbWireless

Just thought I'd let you guys know about this app I came across while rooting my Nook Color. It's called adbWireless and it worked perfectly on my Nook. It allowed me to connect over wi-fi so I didn't have to worry about having the right USB drivers. It's dead simple to use and it's free. I haven't used it on my Aria yet, but I will the next time I need to use adb for something.

It's a cool app but the only problem with the aria is that it's S-on so theres not much you can do with this on the aria other than push/pull to/from the sd card since the aria has to be in recovery to mess with system files.

Oh that's a bummer... like I said, hadn't tried it with my Aria yet, just the Nook. So does that mean my Nook is s-off if I'm able to use this to mess with system files not on its SD card?

Any way to remotely wipe a hdd?

Friend is going out to Italy in a month or so, and if all goes well, he's staying out there.
He's obviously not bringing his computer with him, but he wants to remotly wipe 3 drives incase he does stay. 2 storage and 1 os drive.
Any software out there for that?
I mentioned encryption to him, but he wants them wiped
Doesn't want anyone at all to ever see what was once on the drives.
Before anyone asks
1. He can't bring the drives with him
2. the computer is on 24/7
3. he doesn't trust me enough, lol.
I found alot of info here

Need help with a software modification (External USB to Internal SD)

Hi Guys
I've got a modded note 5 with an internal SD card slot, problem is because its via an OTG adapter android picks it up as external storage and limits how the system views it
Could someone please direct me to a method that works for getting this to act like a internal SD card?
I've tried External 2 Internal and adb shell sm set-force-adoptable true, but the problem is this phone is running Android 9.
