So I read the sticked topic in general and the tuts but I'm still unsure how to exactly do it since most of the topics are pretty old and I dont know if they will work out with the new roms or if there are maybe some newer, safer, easier ways how to do it.
Ive never flashed my phone, only updated once with Samsung Kies.
Phone informations:
Firmware Version: 2.2
Build: FROYO.XWJPH
PDA: I9000XWJPH
PHONE: I9000XXJPP
CSC: I9000OXXJP9
Download mode and recovery mode did already work without doing anything.
How do I flash it now? With Odin or through the recovery mode?
Is there maybe a detailed tutorial maybe even a video tutorial about how to do it?
And which ROM can you recommend? It should be pretty bugfree (the most important things should work), fast and should have android 4.0.4.
Thank you, I appreciate every kind of help.
There are tons of guides available via google, e.g.: [remove space]

That guide flashed CM9, but I suppose AOKP or MIUI should be similar

I would recommend RemICS-UX. It's amazing and very close to what you 're used to (touchwiz and all) only with 4.0.4.
I recommend ics 4.0.4 xperia s style, you can fond it in developement section, very beautiful and stable rom

Hi,
You have a guide here http://www.darkyrom.com/index.php?threads/darkyrom-v11-0-black-edition-android-4-0-4-ics.7941/ ... but at step 13. you can flash pretty much any ROM you'd like to try.
There are a lot out there in the development section. I use the latest AOKP and it's more than decent for everyday use.
Good luck
Thanks guys!
Worked like a charm.
I tried few and I think Ill stay with remics.
Thanks again!

Hi everyone
Please i know that somewhere in this web of forums their must be a wise and helpfull way of upgrading the samsung galaxy tap p1000 to either an cynogenmod or to honeycomb/icecreamsandwitch
If look around for a while now and im unable to find any straight forward explanation in doing so
So sorry for asking this question yet again
Does anyone know how to do such upgrade or to explain such process in detail or even direct me to such forum and probably most important if such upgrade is available
I am having issues with my tab, mostly it crashing or sometimes freezes for a while. Bought it about 3months ago with gingerbread preinstalled by samsung
I know that with my htc wildfire by rooting it and installing cynogenmod it helped it not crash and also improved with possibilities and speed
I want to do the same with my gt-p1000 but its still under warranty so want to be sure there is a root and mod upgrade that works so that i wont loose my warranty for incase.
Please if someone could advise
Thanks a lot

AFAIK rooting in any form voids your warranty. Your best bet is to wait until the warranty expires
but IMHO rooting is worth it.
Hope I helped you. If I did, press the thanks button!
Thnx for the reply
I know rooting voids the warranty and totaly agree its well worth it,but my concern is that there are so many treads on how to it for the gt-p1000 but which one of them are solid and will work without defects?
Do you maybe know if there is any tread that explains the process in full?
Thnx again

The best rom that I ever use for my Gtab P1000 is Overcome ROM (latest version is 4.1.0), I'm already try other ROM like MIUI, BOCA, etc but this overcome have 99% stable with no bug. Thread is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317384
If you want to unroot just use adb shell or remove su.apk from /system/app folder using root explorer.
Awesome, thnx alot will give it a shot
Is it still on the gingerbread os?
And is there any limitations like things not working (example camera gprs ex?)

Yes,it is on Gingerbread (Overcome 4.1.0 has android 2.3.6 ).Everything is working in this from.don't forget to flash the modem if you use your tab for phone calls, though doing this isn't compulsory
Hit the thanks button if I helped you!!
Which one of the posts in the tread explains the correct way of rooting and installing overcome?
Sorry im a noob at this and reading through the forum is a bit confusing
Just wish someone would post a step by step process and if needed additional flashes required
Thnx again for your support
Looking forward to upgrading my tab

Back in the day I rooted my GT-P1000 with super one click, this was like 1 year and a half ago.
As for the best ROM to use, personally I am using CM9 at the moment which is ICS based. But it is not very newbie friendly atm and has a lot of bugs still being worked on (camera does not work for example).
I would recommend BOCA RC1, it's fast and stable and based on gingerbread CM7. Gives a lot of customizations and is tablet oriented.
But if you want to keep the look and feel of stock ROM, Overcome is the best bet.
Boca RC1
Overcome

Pretty sure you can do this as it uses cwm to flash. You will have to wipe though so you could just go direct to Sapir. It has the odd bug but is generally pretty good.

Hi,
I am fairly new to this and need advice on how to root my samsung galaxy s.
Details below:
Android 2.1
Baseband Version : I9000XXJM2
Kernal Version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number : ECLAIR.XWJM3
Any assistance as to how i need to root the phone, new kernals and latest ROM will be appreciated
Using the search function and reading before opening a new thread is generally considered the best way to go about it my friend.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Reading & searching is always a good idea but often if new you don't really know what to search for so here is a little help.
If you just want root then go to cf-root Read through at least the first post. it is a lot but very helpful.
What you usually want is the cf-root with the last three characters of your build number. If it doesn't match try get one that is close. If you plan to flash a custom ROM then it doesn't matter to much which one you have.
If you want an easy way to have root and the ability to flash custom ROMS you may as well start with DarkyResurrection. It has an easy to follow thread and the download has everything you need in one download.
Alternatively if your goal is to get ICS then here are two tutorials that will get you through the whole process from beginning to end which I recommend doing either one of. Once done you will be in a great position to move onto any ICS ROM, Kernel or Modem you like. My personal favourite is Slim ICS with semaphore.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637966 (slightly more current ROM)
ICS list of Roms & Kernels
ICS benchmark thread
List of Modems
Lastly a great Samsung Galaxy Resource site: SamMobile. You need to register but it is free.
There are 2 ways that I know of to root your phone depending on what you want to do going ahead.
If you want to install a custom rom, then follow the instructions given above.
But if you want to keep your stock rom and root your phone to install some apps that work only on rooted phones then I would suggest that you use the SuperOneClick method.
Let me know if you need instructions for the SuperOneClick method and I will be happy to share it with you.
Cheers

Install samsung kies and update to gingerbread. Then do cf-root.
I would advise to first upgrade to GB, which is much better version of OS than Eclair. If you are not able to upgrade using kies, you learn how to upgrade here: https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum/threads/samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-flashing-to-original-rom.46/
Then how to root here: https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...-i9000-rooting-gt-i9000-2-3-3-india-ddjv9.47/

Hi All,
I'd like some advice please.
I recently got a Note (n7000) and i'm looking to put a custom rom on it. I have installed custom Roms before on a S2 but I have seen a couple of threads that make it sound a bit more complicated on the Note.
I'm wondering if it there is high chance of bricking my phone if did do something wrong?
I have the following version:
GT-n7000
Android 4.0.3
Baseband n7000XXLPT
Kernal XXLPY
is there anything about the above that I should be wary of?
I been looking at Paranoid Android but from I have read i think need to install a Ginger Bread Rom first? is there anything from the above that should be wary of when doing this?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

From my experience, from the days of my SGS right up till the GNote and SIII.....read and reread the instructions on flashing ROMs. Understand it fully before even trying to attempt any flashing of ROM/kernels/updates.
Hope that helps......

First of all, check if you have got the EMMC bug.
If you do, then, never ever (try to avoid) do Data Wipe/Factory Restore in the CWM mode.
Thanks for the replies.
I ran the brickbug app and it definitely seems I have the bug
Is it therefore recommended that I flash a "safe" rom asap?
Would it be ok to just carry on using the phone as is until Samsung release a updated rom?

Other than GB roms, there are no safe roms.
As long as you dont do a factory reset/wipe, ICS roms are quite ok too. A factory reset/wipe on any ICS, all stock and many customs, can trigger the eMMC brick bug. There are some custom kernels that have a work around which are relatively safe. They do not claim to be 100% safe though. Read around.

Help choosing Cf-Root version for Galaxy S2
Though I have posted here many years ago, please treat me as a newbie now.
I have a Samasung Galaxy S2 w/ Android 2.3.4. I would like to add Cf-Root so that I can manually upgrade to the newest available version of Android.
1. My kernel version is 2.6.35.7-I9100 XXKH3-CL479037.
I see there are two KH versions of Cf-Root:
"XX_OXA_KH3: Untested (by me) (thx to robbielicious for the stock kernel)
XX_XEU_KH4: Tested"
Which one is better for my phone? Is there any advantage in using the KH4 which was tested by the maker, over the exact match KH3, not tested?
2. Could you please provide a link (to a reliable download site) for the latest android version? The sites that were in the original post appears to have been shut down.

Hi,
I am new in this topic, and I want to try out custom ROMs. I have chosen the custom ROM I want to try out (for me this time it's gonig to be CM 10.2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2435716 ), and I've read some articles and forum threads about this matter.
My Galaxy ACE S5830 runs on Android 2.2.1 and has never been flashed (as far as I know).
I just want to be sure that I won't make any mistake so I need someone to write me down full process that needs to be done. I don't fully understand what comes first and what comes last therefore it would be helpful if someone here could describe me step by step instructions. I have downloaded everything suggested including drivers, cwm, odin and root and above mentioned custom ROM.
I am new in this subject meaning that I have never done this things with my phone.
Also I am not complete layman and I have good software understanding so I don't need extensive descriptions.

Thank you mate u've been very helpful!
I'm still researching and getting a clue which ROM should I use, but by now I know what is the proper order of doing things. All that is left is getting the right, fastest and most stable custom ROM.
Thanks again for the guide
