Hi,
I'm going on hollydays tomorrow but I would like to see "Touch" episodes while I'm away...
I'm playing the episodes with mobo player, mxplayer or qqplayer but none of them plays smoothly as it should... Dunno ifour ace can do it, but I would like to try.
I'm running on 799mhz, apocalypse with non ovc firekernel.
Cheers
This player plays verrry smooth as long as it is not more that 720p

Tryed it and it plays the same way the others I mentioned...
Damn, I really would like to see this but I guess its because of the video quality.. I can only find hdtv quality, that's why
Ahh yes it's cuz the quality is too good for the ace processor....

Convert them to a lower quality with some software...
U know any software to do that?
Video editing software would work best like sony vegas pro 10 or after efects cs6 but cost money so try Googling hdpi to sd video converter
Also there are apps that convert videos for ace spesifiekly Google
If you are using MX player, select sw(software decoding) for files other than mp4.
SOLVED:
Downloaded xilisoft hd video converter and converted to a lower quality (still great quality), mx player is running it now!
Thank you both

Hey everyone,
I thought this was an appropriate place to discuss the viability of multiple video format playback on the legend. I've been trying out all the different apps that claim to be able to play an impressive array of video formats, but none of them can play a simple avi video file (even though it says avi support/playback in the app descriptions). Most just crash, or the video just doesn't play.
So, my question for you is, have any of you discovered a way to watch avi files, or any other video formats on the legend without flat out converting it to a playable format? (ex wmv, 3gp, mpeg are the ones supported i believe). Post your comments/thoughts/experiences! Not so much a question as it is me creating a thread for the discussion of app development for this problem (not technically a problem), or even integration of this added functionality to our fantastic bunch of ROMs cooked up by our friendly neighborhood devs.
Thanks,
Michael
I think there is nothing we can do about the inferior hardware on Legend. Compared to the N8 and C7 that Nokia gave me, the same ARM11 cpu but the Nokia came with Broadcom GPU that does include hardware video acceleration. It plays 720P with ease.
With rock player I did watch avi files.. (the normal 700mb files)

you can try 'yxplayer' too. it plays large avi files smoothly..

no its doesn't.
It will play .avi files but not 100% smoothly like on pc... but it is playable.
and note: yxplayer is not working for well on android 2.2 and it doesnt work at all on higher > 2.2
yxplayer sucks. Rock player is really the only decent multi format player. Unfortunately doesn't work very well in CM7
I have been using summer player on cm7 and it plays avi files.

Seaman player is the only one that worked smooth for me on cm7 nightlies playing the 700mb files

Moboplayer ... It is free, and with a bit of fiddling plays avi and most other video formats I throw at it.

Hi
Sorry if I posted in wrong place.
I just bought Samsung galaxy sl with super clear lcd. I am facing some major issues with playback of high definition videos in mp4 format. The default video player in my phone is not supporting the playback of high definition mp4 videos. I tried downloading at least 6-7 different video players from the android market but again facing problems. Some of the players like rockplayer and V player are able to play the same video but at a very very slow frame rate. The sound is alright but video playback is very poor with extremely slow frame rate. Its as if the video is being played in slow motion. The sound comes earlier whereas the video playback falls behind with slow framerate.
So any idea how I could play hi-definition videos is my galaxy s 4gb lcd version ?
Thanx
Stock player plays 720p easily
Ders also a Summer Player wic i like
Rock Player hs sound issues in mine...
Yes this sucks really. I have both galaxy s and sl
And s play unconverted mkv flawlessly where my sl have lag on it and also I need market play. I hope any developer modified sl player codec with original S model.
I know our sl have good gpu n cpu to run hd unconverted movie.
I hope some one will modify default play and ported S player to our phone. Like touchwiz 4.

The stock player is able to play 720p if I convert it to .avi
But mp4 is not running. I tried a lot of players from Market but to no avail.
Was not expecting this..
same problem here.. most of the videos i downloaded were 720p.. but most of the time when I try to watch the videos, frame rates were to slow... but the audio was fine,.. hmmmm?!?!

Have you tried moboplayer ?
Download Handbrake and use it to convert your videos. Since it hasn't played on 6-7 players it's likely there is something wrong with the file format. Try converting to .mkv again with one of the presets.

720P or 1080P? please try to use 手机QQ影音(Android)1.0 Beta3(168) it will be OK!
I recorded a video at highest quality and 720 using SGSL but when played they play like scatched cd or dvd, video and sound doesnt match and sometimes the video skips.
Can someone suggest. The videos are recorded on external sd card.
Its due to you ext sd quality.most probably its class 2.you need at least class 6 sd for optimum result.

where can i find this?
I've researched a lot on this topic and found that its due to our omap 3630 chip set. Its not powerful as galaxy s hummingbird. It can play 720p mp4 but not handle 1280*720 mkv no matter what you do.
I have both galaxy s and sl.
And I recently flash both with best roms available with lagfix.
What I wonder to see that smartcine n quadrant score of both.
I. Cpu part they have little difference.
2. But in graphics u have seen nearly 60% more score of galaxy s over sl.
That is the reason sl sucks in this section means hd playback but.
But after flash xxdb3 n lagfix on my sl. I am able to score mkre than 1900 on quadrant where my galaxy s score 2700.
I dont think any player from market can play mkv in hd smoothly.

i9003 can't play mkv because it don't have drivers to understand this format in stock player. If you are using other player in not system mode this means that it don't use video aceleration at all.
IE we just need native drivers for mkv and other formats
I have galaxy S3 and it can only handle 10-bit video @ 480p
However, 720p 10-bit videos runs slow and laggy.
I wonder if Xperia Z can handle it without any slowdowns. Can some here test it ?

I should be able to answer your question in one hour. Stay tuned!
EDIT:
Unfortunately, when I tried to playback 720p 10bit video standard video player refused to play it and mxplayer opened it in software mode, refusing to use the H/W and H/W+ modes. In software mode I'd say it is watchable but is not perfectly smooth.
played a 10bit mkv through standard player, no lagg, smooth, while this was lagging using stock rom.. im now on tuddzrom , not sure if that fixed it lol but smooth nonetheless
Ok thanks guys
Galaxy S4 is supposed to have faster CPU than Xperia Z , so hope it will play it 10-bit 720p video smoothly.
5.1 channel mkv?
Guys,
On my Note II i can play 1080p mkv no problem, but the DDS (dolby digital 5.1) audio will not play.
I am switching to Z on Monday and am wondering if the 5.1 audio plays on mkv formats as well. Could u check that?
THanks!
1080p FLAC works flawless depending on the bitrate
720p no problems at all
Problem comes with 10bit. I think we all know that we want to watch our anime along the way. Most episodes are Hi10p.
I am not sure but how different is the Nexus 7 CPU against the Xperia Z? I can use the HW and HW+ decoder for 10bit episodes and they run smooth. But somehow the XZ refuses to use the HW/HW+ decoder. Might be, cause it's still new? No real HW support from MXPlayer yet?
I have no idea tbh.
Use MX Player's latest Test Build from here : https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/translation/test-build
It's a huge improvement.
Now my XZ (on 4.2.2 official ROM) can play 720p 10 bit anime very well

I guess 10 bit 1080p is asking too much
If we talk about Xperia Z hardware capabilities to decode 10-bit encoded video, the answer is no, it will never allow it. Currently there isn't any smartphone being able to decode 10-bit enconding.
On the other side, software decoding is based on how well the algorithm is developed rather than the device itself. It's pure CPU processing power + how optimized in the algorithm so that might change with time. And from what I've seen reading this post MX video player is working on it.

I only recently started watching movies on my phone. DVDrip avi files work smoothly and have pretty good quality too. The 720p mp4 files don't work too good. The audio lags and sometimes the video too. Only minor lags but its still irritating. And you probably wouldn't even notice the difference avi and mp4.
i cant but no problem for this
720p video play well in 844mhz and performance governer but 1080p video lags a lot... but able to play all video... but lags hd...

yes. I'm on cm10 if that matters. I would prefer dvdrip avi anytime over HDs on this phone. It runs very smoothly
I am thinking of getting this phone. I would like to know if it can play high bitrate MKV/MP4/TP/TS video files (like music videos of 1GB size). Anyone tried this yet?
I would also like to know if it can handle 10bit videos as well though I think this will be based on the app/player....
Thanks!
4sashi got loads of HQ music videos which you can try
Video quality in this phone is satisfactory. I'm playing some 1080 HD videos/movies with MX player and Movies app with no problems so far... Out of topic..can you give me a site which has HD quality pictures?
Sorry i dont have a site for that. Would you mind if you download something from the bluray mvs from 4sashi and try it out in sp?

need your help on this

i am really interested to know if it can handle music videos (1 gigabytes in file size)....
