[Q] Flashing capacitive button notification ROM - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are there any other roms that flash the capacitive buttons on the captivate when you get a notification? So far I've only found Doc Master's ICS (v12) and it has atrocious battery life. If not, is there any app that will allow this?

The rom doesn't matter just the kernel. If you flash glitch or devil they both have bln which can be activated through a app called NSTools

If you use Devil Kernel, an app in the Play Store called "Devil Kernel Config" basically replaces NStools and allows you to do other cool things.

[Q] Lagfix

Hello,
Can I use SpeedMod and Voodoo Lag fix at the same time? or I have to apply something like OneClickLagfix with the SpeedMod kernel?
Wich kernel is the best and most popular kernel that has a lagfix integrated itself?
I am using SpeedMod right now and I feel alot better than Voodoo. With Voodoo, my device gets slow a bit but with SpeedMod it's all right.
And one more thing: is there anyway to keep the capacitive buttons light always on? Like with the help of light sensor, whenever it's dark in some place the lights turn on and when your somewhere that is bright they automaticlly turn off like all other devices do?
Thanks
Anyone, Please?
Speedmod is a kernel that has build in selectable lagfixes, OCLF is outdated as of now.

Why OCLF is outdated?
And how can I select SpeedMod built-in lagfixes?
Thanks in advance
I think speedmod is better, cos it runs on 1000mhz instead of 1280. Batt drained ect...

In speedmod clockwork, there is an option to enable lagfix. Also there is option to convert all to ext2.

Thanks. Are they both needed to be installed together for the best result?
***bump***
Just enable the ext4 lagfix in recovery and forget about oclf.

[Q] How to enable BLN in CM7 ?

I'm used to BLN in other ROM'S. CM7 used to have it, but the feature seems to be missing in the newer builds. Any way to get it back??
you can get that in a custom kernel... check the dev section for CM7 kernel's and see which one is best for you.
Glitch has bln, but not sure I'd working on new version, and only basic configuration available

[Q] JVS: com.android.media crashing

I flashed to JVS yesterday. With both Semaphore 1.7.0 and Dark Core 4.0 the com.android.media is crashing all the time, it is not possible to select and ring tones or notification sound.
Any idea how to fix this?
Try to flash again with odin...

[Q] Semaphore 0.9 and BLN

I use Team ICSSGS RC4.2 with Semaphore 0.9 (and 0.8.x before) for quite some time now, and very happy with it.
I even have BLN working with enabling it in NSTools.
My problem is that every time I have the phone restarted for ever reason there is, I get a boot loop, until I clear NSTools settings in recovery mode.
Does anyone have any other way to have BLN without the use of NSTools?

apply the update by choosing the file

Favorite custom kernel and why?

Hi I'm new to the cappy forums and want to see what perks and such there are in the custom kernels, so I'm asking what custom kernel are you using ( if any) and why that one, is it because of features, stability, performance, etc.

I mainly use Nick0703's Unofficial Semaphore because of Step OC and In-Call Volume settings.

For your Xylon 2.3.3. ROM use "sc" or "s_vc_c" version (with Voodoo Color).

What exactly is the difference between sc, vc , c, and s?
At My main phone's forums (Samsung infuse 4g) we don't have any custom kernels yet, one is in the works but that's it so flashing custom kernels is kinda new for me, so any details would be great. Also I am very thankful that you added in which type I should be using for my install ROM, I flashed devils kernel to try out, and thinking about trying the dual boot one, but I want to find out add much add possible about the advantages and disadvantages of the different kernels before choosing a daily driver.

Normal version "c" is for most ROMs, version "sc" is for Slim based ROMs. Your Xylon 2.3.3 runs better with "sc" version.
"vc" stands for Voodoo Colour mod. Download Voodoo Sound app from the market to have VS/VC control.

based off of the post above yours i would say "C" cuz if im not mistaken PAC is primarily CM Based, but i would wait for actual confirmation before proceeding
I don't remember what kernel version PAC uses, but just install the ROM and look what kernel it comes with. PAC ROM is ported by the same dev - Nick0703. Most likely the default kernel is already his Unofficial Semaphore, therefore no kernel change needed. PM him to confirm.
If you come from a CM ROM the kernel will stay the same.

This is what the dev said
"You can use any version that you want. But if you're using the "s" version then you'll need to flash HugeMem libs also."
