I know it's not the phone because I tried stock and CM9 and the problem only persists on the latter. I've been trying the new browsers from Firefox (14 and beta) and none of them seem to work for me on Cyanogenmod 9. I looked online and it doesn't seem like it's a widespread problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I've flashed and reflashed the ROM and yet when I load either Firefox 14 or Firefox Beta it just has the loading animation and doesn't load any pages except the ones that are on the homescreen, ie. Firefox Help, etc. I'm always on the latest nightly so I'm not sure what the issue is. Any ideas?
Maybe try ics browser+?

The stock ICS browser works, just like Chrome, Opera, etc. I'm just curious as to why I can't get any of the Firefox ones to. I wanted to try out version 14..

I have some strange issue with the stock browser.
When i try to download files, the download failed (from direct download sites like multiupload or megaupload).
But it works with dolphin or firefox.
I tried with differents roms and i have the same issue.
Anybody can help?
Simple.........use dolphin or firefox!
GTi9000 insanity cm012/glitch
I prefer use the stock browser, firefox and dolphin are more heavy
Had the same problem today when I tried to download the latest CM7-nightly (download failes at 2% or 73%). The third time it works. I didn't touch the phone and let the notification bar pulled down. But don't ask me if this was the reason for the successful download...

It makes me all the time.
I have to paste the url to firefox or dolphin to download and it works fine.
But i dont like much these browsers for using in my phone.
for better downloading and never fail and also resume ability for download try "Byte Tornado Downloader" from market
it works like a charm on 2.3.4 my own custom rom..

I have Simply JVS 2.3.5. installed with the Bullet 1.42 kernel and when/e I would go to the browser and enter facebook or any other site, it would sometimes freeze then shut off the phone. Is it ROM or kernel related because this might render the browser useless to me as of now :/ Any help would be great!
Had a same problem with another gb rom. Its more than likely the browser. Try installing another one, such as dolphin browser HD & make it you default. Once i did this had no more issues. Gluck

I will do that, never thought of it cause I liked the stock better, but Dolphin is also good. Thanks.
Go to the i9000 theme and app section and look for the modded browser for JVS.

Here's the apk if some one wants to try. Its not a flashable zip. Extract it then install the apk.

i tried and could not get it to work, i dont know if the file was corrupt from mikel719 i re downloaded and tried it 2 times and still no luck. I used root explorer to move the .apk to system/app, set permissions, rebooted with no luck. Im not all that smart when it comes to this stuff but im sure there is someone out there that could tweek a few things to get it to work. I also tried to just click on the apk and click install and got the "problem parsing application" or whatever error thats why im thinkin the file may be corrupt? idk!
I'm not all that knowledgeable about the Android system yet on a programming level, but it probably requires resources that aren't currently in GB.
I love the ICS browser as well, but sadly I don't think it's possible to add to gingerbread.
Got it to install but force closes.

Yeah, the framework doesn't match. They've done a lot of changes to the UI so I suspect that's it. I tried when the system got dumped. Now am running an almost functional port.

If you're going to use a different browser, use Miui's (or Miren). They're much, much better than the semi-crappy ICS browser.
do u have any idea were to get the miui browser.apk ? that would be sweet

You could extract it from a rom zip. Not sure if the browser would actually work - Miui Notes wouldn't work with CM7.
Miren on the market is essentially the Miui browser, with very minor differences.

Both chrome and stock ICS/JB browsers do this. It appears its a server side problem. I would use Firefox or Opera mobile

I am having the same problem, even when trying to dl attachments from gmail. Tried clearing data for download manager, and browsers and still having the same issue. Maxthon is the only browser that will let me download anything. Going to flash back to stock out-of-the-box firmware and go from there...any fixes that don't involve a full wipe are greatly appreciated, as I have already wiped/restored a dozen times flashing new ROMs hoping it would solve the problem... thanks!

Try a different browser? I've had problems with Stock, although Chrome sometimes works depending on the site.
Dolphin Browser maybe?
I have the same problems with my htc evo 4g lte. Trying to download podcast from any Web browser or download larger rom files. It's usually on wifi when that happens... Wifi is 20meg connection.
My problem only happens on the occasion though, others every time and I use dolphin.
Any fixes?

I remember having this, but it was a while back and on a different phone (gingerbread).
But, my solution back then was to turn off the automatic time and date function.
Long shot but give it a try.
Okay so I`m exsperancing some problems ONLY happens with stock, Chrome always works fine when the stock htc browser problem is occuring but Chrome is always laggy.
Anyway the stock browser from time to time will stall, Both on WiFi and 3G it will all the sudden stop working and no matter what page I try to load it will sit there and say its loading, But I can go into an app and everything work fine same for Chrome works just fine while the stock htc browser wont load anything like there is no connection. Ive tried factory resetting stock rom and does it with every rom ive tried as well except CM
I have experienced similar problems with the stock browser and I am liking Chrome less and less every day as it is getting laggy. I use Dolphin Browser with Dolphin Jetpack installed - it certainly is one of the best browsers I have ever used.

Unfortunately, the problem is still there.. when I force the closing of the stock internet browser I can repair the situation but after a few browsing the problem comes back again... The stock browser becomes unusable and I have to use chrome.
Do I have to proceed with a factory reset? Is it the only solution?
Same problem there since a few day ( I' ve the One since May)
I rooted my HTC ONE with All-In-One Toolkit V3.1 friday
...Then Install Kernel Bulletproof-4.3/5.3
I don't know if there is a link
If i reboot my phone , stock browser works a while .. then stal
Occurs on Wifi and 3G . Speedtest shows networks is fine although.
Have you tried clearing the app cache and settings? Settings -> apps -> internet... You might have to swipe to get to the 'all' apps rather than 'downloaded'.

Did you flash a custom ROM? Rooting and unlocking shouldn't cause this weird issue. The reason I asked about the ROM is one ROM I used (insertcoin) had an optional modded browser that an issue where you couldn't search from the browser bar. Maybe these are related.

Stock rom also for me. Both in 3G or wifi. No effect with clearing of cache/data in the browser.
If I disable the JAVASCRIPT option, the browser seems to work properly.

Same problem here
Same problem for me too. Must be related to something Google updated recently. After the 4.2.2 update it worked good for weeks. Stock rom.
Same problem here :crying:
This happened to me on cleanrom but has been working fine since I flashed a new Rom. I thought it was a Rom problem

Same issue for me also, since Trickdroid 9.0 it's been doing this. Only thing that works is clearing cache and force closing but the issue arises again anyway after a bit of use.
