[Q] Downgrade from official Android 4.0.4 - HTC Incredible S

I am unhappy with my phones glitches after OTA upgrade to Android 4.0.4. Is there a way to downgrade back to 2.3.5?

Unless you have permanent S-OFF, you will also need to modify your mainver from 4.10 to something like 2.00 before the you can run an older RUU.

You might be able to find and follow this sticky
You just want root access right? You dont have to S-OFF. Unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and flash Super User. S-OFF is for flashing custom ROMS and Radios etc..

The threads that have been offered supply adequate details for those that have searched, read and study how to successfully mod a HTC Android phone, especially with the unlocked bootloader. I suggest you do more research and studying on your own.
The days of a simple one click S-OFF and rooting the IncS are gone and it takes a knowledge of using the Android SDK tools adb and fastboot to be successful.

We had AlphaRevx and Revolutionary early on, which was fairly easy for noobs to use. Also there was a one-click thread in the Dev section for HBOOT 1.09.

If trickdroid 5.6 is riunning Android 4.1 then you should be fine. I think the only issues are running 4.2 roms

Use revone. It's easy and doesn't require linux, firmware and carrier doesn't matter.

The revone method doesn't require root, also let's you unlock bootloader without HTCDev
Found it a lot simper as well, took a few attempts to get going tho
My biggest problem was I forgot to put sudo (only needed for linux) and I forgot to put the file extension.

Another vote for revone from me. I've just got S-OFF with it, and it's very easy by following the guide they have on their post.
I used moonshine and everything worked fine.. Tank you guys for helping me

If you will change rom, you have to do a full wipe in aroma or in recovery before the flash

To flash a custom rom, you need to unlock your device via htc-dev. I'll put a tutorial video link below.
If you already have the 4.2.2 update, don't worry about new firmware for now. Otherwise, you don't need S-OFF depending on your CID to flash the custom 4.2.2 rom and firmware.
To do a rom swap, you don't need new firmware unless it's a newer base which also got a firmware update from htc

So he can unlock the bootloader and go s-off
Which hboot do you have?

So, turn off your phone and longpress power + vol- and when it reboot in bootloader read the hboot.
After reboot in android with the "reboot" line, for move the cursor you have to use the vol buttons

I think it's not needed, but I'm not 100% sure on this one.
I used 4.3 firmware on 4.2.2 before, but it was a custom pack (this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391611) so I'm not sure if the official one would work

You need to be completely stock to install update properly. S-off and locked/unlocked bootloader don't influence on update. I have bootloop if I lock my bootloader so I don't lock it before installing updates.
And if I posted that I have SuperCID - it automatically means that I have S-Off.
