So I was on the right track. I just can't get past step 2. Once I installed the .apk for the new safestrap, when I tried booting, all I get is a black screen when it tries to load the menu. Any ideas?

I decided to go with installing safestrap v 2.0A and now everything is working like a charm. I can now adb push stuff in safestrap and the progress bar acually tells you when switching systems is going to finish .

Cant update

my bionic will reboot fail to update and then reboot and say update failed i unfroze all the bloatware and still no go
i'm actually having the same issue. im not sure if it has to do with rom tool box as its the app that i used to install custom icons on my status bar or just the fact that im rooted but i can't seem to update to 905...i know i'm on the OTA path as when i go to the updater it shows i have an update for 905 from 902......
yup thats exactly my case as well
Your best best is too fxz to stock and follow these directions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27832332&postcount=1
Coming from a RAZR, I did the following.
1. Root device on 905
2. Place update in /cache with es
3. Ensure rom manager is installed
4. Click the zip that you placed in the /cache folder.
5. Click reboot and install from the rom manager menu.
6. Allow root permissions
7. It'll boot into stock recovery and boom.

Can`t install any ICS ROM

I tried to install several ICS ROMs on my Galaxy s, but none of them worked. I did all wipes like 3 times before any rom install... I only managed to boot up SGS2 ICS rom, wich was extremely laggy and etc:L Any advices of what i can do?
Flash back to gb with this kit (unzip, read .txt first)
http://db.tt/MOGZx01S
Then go to slim website and read the installation instructions(use a nightly, not a kernel where you see the choice)
Re read, make sure you are clear what to do, make sure you have all that you need on your internal sd (nightly/i9000 file/ common file/ modem from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158783
[CM7/MIUI/ICS/CM9][06.01.12] Modems + Bootloaders(MD5)
Proceed, take your time, be near a computer, breath deeply, don't panic of things go wrong, post on thread of they do.
Try this.
Download the latest CM9 nightly (you will find it if you Google it)
Go to recovery
Wipe
Format system (mount and storage)
Flash in this order
CM9
Reboot recovery
Modelxxx.xxx
Slim common
Reboot.
Then enjoy

Unless the ROM you are installing is specifically telling you to "mount everything", do not do it. Try it again, but this time do not mount anything manually, installing from Zip should do it automatically. If it still doesn't work, make sure the ROM you are trying to install is supposed to be installed from Recovery, some do also provide files for flashing through Odin/Heimdall
EDIT: I do recommend flashing CM9 first, get the newest nightly from here: http://get.cm/?device=galaxysmtd and google apps (if you want them) from here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip which is the recommended one for usage with CM9 ICS.

[Q] Need help with bugs fix on 4.2.2

hello everyone
I'm new to flashing mobile devices and found some problems during the installations:
Issues:
1. Unable to play music files at apollo player browse / open from file manager (e.g. ES File Explorer & File Manager app comes with the package)
2. Clockwork Mod app installed before flash to 4.2.2 but cannot be found from app list (e.g. superusers...etc) after the above installation completed. Is that normal?
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S i9000
OS installed: [NIGHTLY][ROM][4.2.2] CyanogenMod 10.1 for Samsung Galaxy S (filename: cm-10.1-20130321-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd.zip)
My proccess:
1. Install XXJVU via I9003_Odin3 v1.82.exe
2. Root phone with the following b using I9003_Odin3 v1.82.exe:
- CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5
- GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar.md5
- MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar.md5
- s1_odin_20100803.pit
3. Installed Clockwork mod downloaded from Google play
4. Copied cm-10.1-20130321-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd.zip and gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip to SD
5. Nandroid backup
6. Wipe cache, partition, dalvik cache twice (1. black background - before select install zip select from SD | 2. Grey background - after select install zip select from SD but before installation starts, have no idea why must i select this twice to be able to start the installation.)
7. Installed cm-10.1-20130321-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd.zip and reboot.
8. Enter recovery mode, installed gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip (can't remember if i did step 6 again or not).
Please advice
Need some advices / feedback. Anyone please?
Dont really know whats up with Apollo but since installing new ROM wipes phone, thats fine for CWM app to dissapear. It just got wiped. But dont worry...

I dont post a link because its not my kernel but you will find it in Android Development
How to Enable USB Debugging and Developer Options on CM10.1
Go to – Settings > About phone.
Then move on to Build number option
Tap on Build number repeatedly about 7 times.
This is enough.

he changed the update script. the official cm flashable zip checks for the codename "p880". since its not the correct codename for our phone ("x3" is correct) and all our recoveries use that codename "x3" its not flashable. what he did is changing "p880" to "x3" in the update script (in the first line) or he completely removed that check
Wasn't easier to just use the official CWM from the CM team? Unless you use twrp ofcourse

Restore the backup you made in step 2, install newest official CWM via ROM Manager (download it from play store if you don't already have it) then boot back into CWM and install CM again.
---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:37 PM ----------
Also I honestly don't see any real benefit to this thread when installing official CWM solves the status 7 issue and allows for OTA updating of CM instead of having to wait for the OP of this thread to upload a fix every single day...
argh

I was afraid you were gonna say that! You can still boot into CWM though right? If you can, and your computer has an SD slot, just take out your external SD card and put it into an adapter and put the fixed version from this thread on that, then you can just install it from the external SD in CWM.

from CWM you can install via sideload ...
or harder way- reflash stock, root it, download rom manager, install newest cwm via it, copy files, flash in recovery
won't work

[Q] HTC Vivid Rooted - Bluetooth quit working

I have a Rooted HTC Vivid running Android 4.0.3, HTC Sense 3.6, ROM 3.26.502.56, Software Holics-1.2, Kernel Version 3.0.38_Holics_0730:
I'm in a poor ATT cell area and have to put the phone in a specific spot on top of a shelf and talk via BT at my desk. When using the phone as a phone without BT, the other party hears garble. I can use a wired ear/mic but I am chained to the shelf. Last week the BT just would not turn on at all. I've researched, rebooted, even factory booted but the BT function tries to turn on and just goes back to the off position.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated as I am without reasonable phone commo without a BT.
Have you tried wiping all of the partitions using recovery. Or use the Superwipe script found in the devolpment section after try flash the rom of your choice and it should work.

Thank you. I have used recovery last time. Now when I try to go to SuperSU it shows:
1) "The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue?"
2) *Continue (entered)
3) "If you have a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM, that can be used to (try to) install the SU binary. This is recommended for HTC devices. How would you like to install the SU binary?
4) *TWRP/CWM
5) "SuperSU will attempt to reboot your device into TWRP or CWM. This does not work on all devices. IF this app just closes, please reboot into recovery manually."
6) *OK
7) "Shutting down"
8) Restarts into:
"- reboot system now
- Install zip from sdcard
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- backup and restore
- mounts and storage
- advanced
- go back"
9) * wipe cache partition
10) "Are you sure? This can not be undone"
11) * wipe cache partition
12) * reboot system now
13) * Turn bluetooth on
14) + Doesn't turn on as before.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
