Hi guys, I'm just wondering why my gps is not working. I've followed the instructions written on the apocalypse thread. I've uploaded my gps.conf text. Please take the time to look at it.
Replies will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance guys!
Take a look at this, it might work on every CM7.x based ROM, including all vo-1 based ROMs, for me on the CM7.2 RC1 original works like a charm, first GPS lock within 15seconds

I don't think so, but you can try without damaging your ROM install by doing an nandroid backup with CWM first, if the patch doesn't work or create instability, you can restore everything from backup,

Hey all,
Recently installed CM7.2 Apocalypse (Final Build: 9/7/12) onto my Ace.
I was previously using CM 7.2 Official but (IMHO) Apocalypse is far better.
Since flashing Apocalypse, I have been unable to connect to GPS. I just get the "Location Currently Unavailable" message and the GPS icon flashes continuously. I have tried the "FasterFix" Method Then the "GPS Status and Toolbox" method resetting and downloading A-GPS state.
Also edited my GPS.conf file but all to no avail.
All attempts have been made under a clear sky in several locations around my home.
Eagerly awaiting a response,

thank you SO much
you have to change the values of gps.conf with your current location for better gps fix.
Finishing GPS Set-Up
1. go to system/etc/gps.conf
2. use root explorer, long press that file and open with text editor
3. replace "europe" with your region according to this guide
4. Save file, no permissions needs to be changed. The .bak file can be safely deleted
in my case: south-america.pool.ntz.org
This is what "FasterGPS" does.
It simplifies the process via dropmenu's.

When I'm using 9.1 previously with the Configurator App. Then I re-flash everything again when go into 9.2.
i had the same issue and did a research around XDA forums and Darky's ROM forums. I found a fix for this bug.
I have attached both fixes but i've used the v8.0 fix and it seems to be working great.
- put the ZIP file on your root directory of your internal SD
- reboot into recovery
- apply any zip from SD
- choose zip from SD
- apply and reboot
* steps above may not be the exact wording but u get the picture

I had the same problem but its easy to solve:
Go to wireless settings on your phone
Find APN Settings, if theres nothing do a new apn with your internets name. ( I mean like, who you pay for, its hard to tell in english...) Like here in finland is dna, saunalahti etc.
Leave the default settings and done!
Hi
we have 3 galaxy s in our household, 2 of them have a working gps and will lock on, the other one finds about 3 GPS but never locks on .
we are using GPS test from the andriod market to test the phone.
The faulty phone using gps test says inview 3-5 inuse 0) We have sent the phone back to phones4u (UK) and thet sent it to an accridited repair centre.
It came back and the report said it was a software bug
we then retested with gps test and it was only finding 3-5 inview and 0 inuse according to gps test.
All they have done is i think they have just reinstalled the phone back to 2.2 and sent it back to me.
Can you give me any advise on how to fix this please
install jvr -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139050
Whats the differance between JVR and JVO?
My mums phone is running JVO and the GPS is running fine
can you go from 2.2 straight to JVR?
it has been a bit fixed in jvp/q/r - better signal streanght (snr - signal to noise ratio) due the files updated by samsung - not much but always worth to use latest best files
thats why i always recommend latest firmwares wo any kernels
as samsung never releases sources to latest firmware releases
so you will revert some kernel changes introduced in newer version and not present in kernel builed from older sources
same goes with system files - but in most cases kernels are not touching those
and yes you can go to 2.3.4 jvr straight as long as you will use 3 file firmware and do it as it is said in the thread i linked
Thanks
i will download jvr europe with 512 pit and give it a try will update thread asap
looking forward for your feedback
Many Thanks for your help so far, I have just flashed the Faulty phone with the Links you Provided
However after running GPS Test - its finding 6-8 GPS In View - however its not using any (6+ Inview - 0 Inuse)
is there anything else we could try?

Installing GPS_GRK39C as we speak
Ive Installed the files (I think )
How long do you have to wait on average for it to find the First GPS?
depends, should be something around minute. ive got fix after flashing in about 20 seconds
but it depends on snr in your location, and so many other variables
btw enable data connection/wifi so phone can download agps data
without that it infact can take couple of minutes
Does the Phone Download the agps data automatically?
yup =) as long as there is active data connection/wifi
use those apps to test and download agps:
GPS Status & Toolbox
GPS Test
GPSTest

Hi,
I have CM9 nightly installed on my SGS and it works nicely but it drains battery and internet does not work.
It worked good about 3-4 weeks but suddenly the signal strength bar (or whatever it's called) went to grey (it's normally blue) and if i try to use something what uses internet, it doesn't load anything.
Do you have the latest CM9 version?
Grey signal means you have a weak signal or does not have signal at all. Can you still send and receive SMS?
Yes i can make calls and receive sms. Signal bar is almost full. It would be almost black if have no signal.
But now it's light grey.
Did you try testing it with other phone? Just to prove that it is not your network provider's problem.

Not unless things start to force close. If they do that then you need to factory reset.
Also check your efs folder. It is possible that the data there has been scrubbed. If that's the case Odin a stock firmware with wipe efs ticked.
After that you can return to CM9.

I just got the my HTC One for Sprint and after rooting, I am unable to lock on to GPS using Google Maps. I am currently running Cynogenmod 10.1 20130704 Nightly.
I even tried GPS status to do reset GPS but no luck. If i flash sense based ROM GPS locks on right away. Anyone seen this issue or know of a fix?

back up cm10 restore your sense rom, and lock your gps on then boot to recovery and reinstall cm10
That worked for me once, but didn't seem to stick. I believe gps stopped working once I was in a LTE area.
I edited the /etc/gps.conf file using root browser.
The last line where the setting LPP_PROFILE=X
Stock CM10.1 is 0.
I changed it to 3, rebooted and gps locked right on.
There is a post in the CM10.1 thread (page 48-ish IIRC) that mentions changing it to 1. I tried 3 and it worked for me. I will try 1 if gps stops working again.
Great thanks. That worked like a charm.

Just remember that after every flash you need to change that file again.
Might see if this setting can be merged into the mainline if this is a valid fix.

Would know tell me a way to check if the gps is actually connected, and if there is any way to fix this?
Thank you for the help of the two.

Does your phone's GPS indicator blink? Maybe your phone's GPS is broken? Have you tried aps named "GPS Test", from google play?
Did you tried to use the app GPSData to download latest AGPS info?
Also you can try to modify gps.conf/gps.xml to choose different time/supl server, that is greatly helpful for fixing GPS.
Try reflashing rom (clean install) - In case there is nothing wrong with your GPS hardware everything should work just fine
I have modified gps config data with Faster Gps. Results did not change.
I have also used AndroiTS Gps test,Gps data, Gps status, Gps essentials none of them was able to catch a satellite.
I have clean install Slim Saber but the result is the same.
I am started thinking that it is not software related.
It could be a hardware issue....
Folks,
Like you I spent days editing gps.conf, installing apps, reflashing ROMS, all to no avail.
There seems to be no magic bullet and what works for one may not work for another, but I eventually stumbled across http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973727.
As you will see it requires opening the case and 'tweaking' two contact points. To my surprise it worked for me - although not perfectly. I get about 10 satellite fixes and 6, maybe 7 locks. ('GPS Test' is an excellent freebie to tell you what locks/fixes you are getting.) But a big step in the right direction. There are a few images in the thread that describe the issue/ remedy.
Top (well, average) tips:
1. If you haven't taken a case off before:
a. don't try it just before setting off to a dinner party. It is a bit of a pig and requires some grunt, swearing and patience - but it can be done! There are a few YouTube videos that help explain the process.
b. you will require a size 000 cross-head (Phillips) screwdriver. Go out and buy one if necessary (if you can find somewhere that sells them - I use the one from my spectacles repair kit which just happens to fit; not perfect but does the job - http://www.poundland.co.uk/spectacle-repair-kit. If you try with too big a head you risk stripping the screw heads and that is ......... well, not recommended.
2. Once you have completed the job test your N7000 (with GPS Test) before putting the 9 screws back in. Mine works better with no screws! You may find different.
As I say above this may work for you and may not, so the usual health warning, proceed if you wish.
You can find similar issues on Samsung smartphones, eg http://gs3.wonderhowto.com/how-to/s...-gps-problems-your-samsung-galaxy-s3-0145332/.
Good luck

Did you solve the problem? I have the same trouble that have arisen after updating to kitkat.I tried everything to solve it, without success (clean installation, downgrading to stock rom, editing the gps.conf file, reinstalling google maps, modem changes, hardware check ect.).
I switched to Lollipop but problem remain unsolved.
Regards
I'm glad I found this thread; I too have tried all possible solutions that may have worked for others (edit gps.config, reflash stock ROM, go back to GB, tighten the screws, bend the antenna contacts and so on), and none have helped. At all.
Now, I read somewhere that what is most likely causing the problem (completely dead gps, gps status apk shows zero satellites) is a corrupted EFS partition. This is a partition that usually is not touched by factory resets, ROM changes and so on. It also contains information that you cannot afford to loose (imei and so on).
So, I managed to backup this partition using KTools. Now, the problem is how do I get a clean, EFS partition? Is there a way to reflash this partition from a hidden backup thru odin? Or some other way?
Any help would be vastly appreciated!
Regards.
