Reflash your ROM+ gapps after the reset that should be a good place to start.

I have already returned my first phone (2.1 bricked after 2.2 upgrade via Kies). I received a brand new one with 2.2 preinstalled (The Bell rep unboxed it in front of me).
This new one worked flawlessly for 2 weeks and today I experienced a freeze after tapping on my Net Counter. The screen froze. I waited for about 10 minutes and decided to reboot. The samsung galaxy S logo played fine and then black screen and intermittent vibrates. Rebooted a few times and same thing.
I was able to boot in both recovery and download mode. I first cleared the cache partition through the recovery mode but it was of no help. I then factory reset.
Everything is now working fine after reinstalling all my apps. I'm wondering if this is symptom of bad hardware?

baseband version: i9000xxjpy,
build number: froyo.xwjs7,
my i9000 keeps vibrating & rebooting every time i make a phone call or use the camera with gps activated, & when i disactivate the gps the cam works fine but the phone keeps rebooting during the phone calls, i've tried different flashes using odin3 & factory reset the phone yet the problem is the same...!!
anybody has any solution for that problem please?
maybe try a wipe and reflashing.. usually fixes problems like this... did you restore app+data with titamium backup last upgrade you did??? this sometimes causes funny problems like this... if not maybe the last update you did, didn't work properly... anyway.. If I were you I would wipe all cache's and data, Flash Stock 2.2 and then flash Whatever moded 2.2.1 and Rom you want.. Good luck
G'day everyone.
The phone is an Optus (Australia) Galaxy S which is running 2.2.1 Froyo XXJPY Kernal Version 2.6.32.9
It has suddenly gone really slow and all widgets, games and apps will not work and when trying to run any of them, the phone vibrates and shows a message saying it has stopped unexpectedly and to close it.
When using the phone, it sometimes gets the following message...
The application AdService (proces.com.sec.android.appsecad) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. With a FORCE CLOSE button.
Which is the same format as the other error messages she mentioned.
The phone restarted yesterday to find that it has wiped out all contacts and saved stuff in the Memo program and all favourite apps were gone from the home screen.
I've been asked to help with this, but I'm finding the solution very confusing.
Edit - She is happy for me to update it to a newer, stable version, but I'm unsure about doing that from the current version as I am not tech savy.
Advice on upgrading from 2.2.1 would be much appreciated.
Thanks everyone!

this is normal for Froyo. when i was on 2.2.1 had similar problems ( had to restart every 2,3 days and there's was another problem, system wouldn't pass s logo and i couldnt save programs etc. , then my csc was unknown.) every 2,3 weeks it needed hard reset etc.
try using different firmware.
Well, at first, i'm nativ german speaker, so i hope you will still understand my problem ...
so what's it?
i started some month ago with the stock MIUI ROM and got after nearly a month massive errors like the titel said, following problems i got was that Mobil Internet dosnt starting, Google Service is always force closing and with that force closing every app get a force close too cause google service isnt running.
Just as i said, first i used MIUI Stock, then i reflashed MIUI and hoped it wont happen anymore, about the same time the error applied again. Then i tried MIUI Mintberry, the same error applied after maybe 2-3 weeks, i reflashed MIUI, the same happen again. Then i tried ICS, got a bootloop, applied Stock ROM via ODIN (the other flashing was made with CWM) and i found a working ROM. i reflashed after some days with Odin cause ICS sucked and then i flashed CyanogenMod7 Nightly ROM. Then the error applied about 2 weeks again and it sucks...
What also have i done? i used different kernels, i used different SD Cards, i never applied Data von TitaniumBackup so the error couldnt come from bad properties or something like that.
Here some facts from the CM7-ErrorMessage:

Thats it, some error correction ideas?
PS: The phone is used since it's out
no solutions or suggestions?
Did you always wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache & wipe dalvik cache after upgrading your ROM's?
Other then that I always recommend to start again with a stock Samsung Froyo or GB ROM
yeah, i always did wiped/factory reset and the rest
i reflashed from ITC the stock ROM from Samsung before i reflashed to CM7 and the same happend again
Well, it seems that the errors just applies, if i installed too much apps ... but i still have 40 MB ROM Space free and 1GB intern free, 2 GB SD-Card and 10gb emmc free ...
I would like to know if changing your SD card has solved the problem ?
If it is the case, what have you bought ?
(I have the same problem but with a HTC Desire.)
Hey guys...
First time poster on here and after some BIG help... any will be useful and i thank you in advance for taking the time...
Ok without writing a novel i will give as much information as i can without beating around the bush. Then followed by details on the phone.
Issue:
So no matter what kernel or ROM & apps (or no apps) i put on this phone it is always unstable and reboots itself. Some ROMS doesn't even load.
The phone has been rooted correctly 'used the samsung root tool kit' with the correct one for the phone Australia i9305 LTE version.
I used to have rXTREME 7 which was OK - it rebooted maybe 3-5 times a day if i was frequently using it, but annoying.
I tried the rXTREME12.1 installed fine, the phone was restored to default, Xache & Davik Cache where all cleared and installed rom on fresh system however it would just hang on the Samsung logo... and do nothing.. i have also tried the CyanogenMod and Paranoidandroid 3.97 halo ROM's and they wouldn't load....
Currently i have Ripper Rom and it works however whenever i try and do ANYTHING it reboots itself... i will be lucky to get a good 2mins of it working correclty without it having to reboot... So far this morning it has rebooted about 31 times (no joke i have been counting) just trying to access my email... Not matter what i do, replaying to MSG's trying to answer the phone (swipe just doesn't work) or it will just reboot itself...
In saying this i have also tried to unroot the phone and installed the standard OPTUS rom and it was also so unstable it would do the same thing, however would wipe any information i had put on the phone... apps, data, contacts...
Details on the Phone:
Australian LTE GT-i9305
Android V: 4.1.2
Baseband V: I9305XXBLL5
Kernel V: 3.0.31-1153417 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri May 31 23:10:25 KST 2013
Build Number: Ripper ROM V17.2
Recovery: Team Win Recovery Project v2.3.30
Again please help!!! i am at at a end and want to smash the phone to peices.........
Thanks in Advance for any help or advice!

nateboi81, thanks for that..
I have given that a go and it hasn't worked. still has rebooted 20 times this morning :S
I don't know what to do.. HELP? PLEASE....
Wipe phone factory reset flash stock rom and test fails then its hardware .
jje
Yeah it sounds like you've done everything so it sounds hardware related. If it's still under warranty hopefully you can still run triangle away to clear the flash counter before you send it in for repair but I don't think you have any other choice

Thanks for the help guys..
I have a funny feeling it is hardware related as well
I do have triangle away, and the phone gets rid of all the flashes bar 1... it shows the count as 1... so don't know if warranty will cover it?
On that note of a stock flash, does anyone have the latest OPTUS Australian LTE version??????
Again, thanks for your time...

You need to flash triangle away and then boot into download mode and flash a stock rom. Should be able to find it on the sammobile website

Stock rom is up on sammobile, I have both stock ics and stock jb files for optus Australia which I can upload if required.
update -
So the phone has another version of teamwin recovery v2.3.3.0 and installed the xrtreme13 rom and is completely fine... untill you put a sim card in the phone... I tired all the different modems and it still crashed...
If i put another sim in it, and still does it, does it mean the modem on the phone is borked? and should get a new one? or is there a fix for this???
However we did pin point what the problem is...
Cheers,
Scotty
