[Q] How do I un-root ZV8? - LG Revolution

I have downgraded to zv7 to use MT's way of keeping root through the update to zv8 and have flashed BO and now I'm on BO 2.0 and would like to know how to unroot zv8 so I can update to zv9 then root and re-flash 2.0 can anyone help me out with this?

Use the LGNPST and flash V9 since the OTA probably isn't out anymore and just re-root and add CWM and make a backup and flash 2.0

Not sure but I'm pretty sure putting it into Download mode then sending it through adb not sure if that's correct or would work.

[Q] Is there a rooted NVFlashable Stock HoneyComb ROM for DS7 Tmobile 4G?

I have tried upgrading using the method posted here but I keep getting an error: "FOTA Name mismatch". (I used method one).
Also, I was unable to get the stock 2.2 rooted using the super one click method, in order to install the CWM and try the method 2.
I have been working on these for hours and I am at my wits ends.
Here, is my question: Is there an NVFlash method that will get me to a rooted stock honeycomb?
Thanks for your help.
P.S: I have been using Steve's HoneyStreak R7 but the battery life has been terrible. I downgraded to stock 2.2 to get the official HoneyComb upgrade but have not been successful.
to answer your last question, no. To root froyo on ds7 use gingerbreak.

Method one works, if you get the FOTA mismatch then you flashed the incorrect recovery. I used method one. BUT there is a problem, rooting stock Honeycomb I get some random reboots, if I stay stock unrooted it runs fine
Gingerbreak worked for me after flashing back to 2.2 with NVFlash.

VZW Galaxy Tab Root 2.3.5?

I have tried Superoneclick latest version with zergrush. Hangs on step 7. I would like to root my SCH-I800. Anyone shed some some light on this? Even a manual root via adb?
Sent from my SCH-I800 using xda premium
Will CF-Root work? If which file?
same here: no joy with either latest superoneclick or with the pure zergrush.
vzw may have patched that exploit
:/
I mean I can put it back to stock and not update it. Just seems a lot more stable with 2.3.5. More fluid and faster. I originally had 2.2 and rooted manually. Now seeing new update, I reset to stock and downloaded both updates to 2.3.5. No dice on any root method yet. I see CF-Root as method but our device is considered old by latter means? Also my kernel string only gives "2.6.35.7". Hopefully soon...
If you flash the kernel from my Cubed 3 ROM it will allow you to adb push the root files.

Can/should we flash the recovery as well? Is it possible to flash back to the stock kernel and/or recovery after rooting?
BTW, I really like your ROM, I just prefer to stay a little closer to stock. Thanks a lot for all the help you have provided us VZW Tab owners!
EDIT: I just now saw your rooted stock ROM in the development forum. That is really awesome, thanks! But, if possible, I am still interested in rooting the device without having to reflash the entire ROM and losing data/settings in the process.
Any update on this? Suggestions?
Just need to root, not change the ROM (yet!)

[Q] Rooted on KK9 - Can I safely OTA to KL7?

I apologize in advance if this has already been asked and answered, but I did search and couldn't find a definitive answer.
I have a "German" Note which came with 2.3.5 initially, I did one OTA update (to KK9) and it appears that luckily for me, I was still able to use the ZergRush exploit and root it and get the custom CWM, etc.
Now as I sit on KK9, I see that there is another OTA update available to me (KL7?) that clocks in at about 71MB.
With root, custom CWM, and CF-Root 5.0 at the moment, I don't want to lose that in an update.
So, is it safe to OTA or should I download something else and flash it via CWM? If so, what should I download and how should I flash it?
Thanks! Just don't want to brick or loose root.

(From memory only
You can "safely" update: that is, some users have reported no problems but I've already read issues with backup managers not being able to unfreeze apps, boot loops, and keyboard/random apps crashing when you try to open them.
KL7 is a stunning update (my battery now lasts forever). I'm going to root later in the summer once everything becomes stable.

After update, you cant root it with zergrush exploit as previous. Better you download full rom, install mobile odin pro, n flash it with 'ever root' option. So will get root during flashing
Thank you!
How can I confirm that the update being offered via OTA from KK9 is indeed KL7? Is that the most appropriate and current update path to follow? I know there are many different builds for potentially different devices, and I just want to make sure I am on the right path, and am merely assuming at this point that KL7 is the next step for my Note.
Thanks again, your advice makes much sense, and with already being Root and having Mobile Odin Pro, this seems like a much more intelligent approach. I want my device to be rooted, but rock stock and absolutely stable otherwise.
Regards,
-Rob
I can only say 71MB is almost exactly what I remember the KL7 update being. Other than that, I don't know how you can check (alternatively, you could download the update from XDA, apply it, then check for OTAs to see whether or not it was KL7).

So, what if you have CWM installed? Can I use Mobile Odin still? Or will this get rid of my CMW recovery and/or screw something else up?
if you use cwm still u can flash it to kl7, but again same, u cant root it. So using mobile odin pro, u can root kl7 during flashing by selecting 'eve root' n again u can cf root n get cwm for kl7 as you did it b4
Edit : yes with installed cwm still can use mobile odin, n remember u need pro version of mobile odin

Got the pro version. Thanks!
So just to make sure, coming from Stock KK9, rooted + with CWM:
Flash KL7 w/ ever root option Odin Pro
Re-install KL7 version of CWM.
Should all be set?
This is non-wipe too right? So everything should remain in tact?
Exactly, and when v dont select re partition box, it shud remain intact.(here also v dont selecting) But always keep backup b4 these kind of stuff.
Edit: I was able to get my phone flashed and updated to KL8. The process I used I descibed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21153439#post21153439
Ok, I'm using Mobile Odin Pro to try to flash to KL7 from KK5. I have root + CWM in KK5, use Mobile Odin according to the instructions to flash KL7...but I always get stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy Note" boot screen. No matter how long I leave it, it will stay that way. To recover, I have to use Odin on PC to reflash KK5 and then reroot. Any suggestions on what else to try?
I couldn't get flashing with Mobile Odin to work correctly. I ended up getting the update to work by using CWM to flash the KL8 firmware, while pre-rooting. I then had to fix the keyboard issue by flashing the CSC, as mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997.
Once I did that, I installed CMW Manager again using the method found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360. With the firmware updated and the radio working (phone wouldn't work in KL7) I just restored everything from a Titanium Backup file and it's all working.

V8 has not been rooted yet.
Sent from my AXI0M ICS RAZR using tapatalk.
Here are the steps to get back to Rooted V7 if you upgraded to unrooted V8
1) Go back to V7, follow instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1337386
2) Re-root and install CWM Recovery (choose Option 3)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1348557
3) Flash GingerVolt 2.0 (only if you do not want to upgrade to V8)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1326542
4) Upgrade to V8 without losing root access
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557351
Good luck!

how do I go back to zv7 from a stock non rooted zv8?

I had to get a new phone since mine broke and it has the zv8 update already and I want to root so what is the easiest way to go back to zv7 so I can root and flash a custom rom
Download LGNPST from here http://tazr.net/lgrevo/ along with the vs910.dll file and the lg revo AIO and the zv7 gingerbread. Then use LGNPST to bring you back to zv7 then use the AIO to root then if you want to re-update the phone make a local.prop file in data with "ro.kernel.qemu=1" in it then do the OTA update then download the AIO ZV8 and use Option 2 then you'll have CWM and then you can flash the new Broken Out 1.1 rom

This thread ought to help with that a little bit. It has specific directions for flashing back to zv7 or earlier. You might need to do some digging in the replies if you use win7 64bit on your desktop. There are a few issues with it.
