Dear all,
I am in trouble need your help.
Currently i have
***unlocked***
VIVO PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-2.02.0002
RADIO-3831.18.00.11_M
eMMC-boot
May 22 2012
Please help me in getting downgrade the HBOOT
or
Getting S-off at this stage .
How this happened?
I was on BLACKROSE then i uninstall it and get back to older version of HBOOT
then i update with latest RUU_VIVO_ICS_35_S_HTC_WWE_4.10.405.1_Radio_20.74.30.0833U_3831.18.00.11_M_release_266013_signed
Since then i lost my HBOOT and S-OFF.
Now as i have unlocked it with HTC DEV. getting problem in rooting.
I install 4xt recovery then su binary through recovery
When Phone booted (with latest RUU) and i got to super user app ,it seems doesnt have root access and doesnt allow any application to work as root.(dont know why )
I cannot install busybox through market it get permission denied problem as well
Now what i want is to get back my blackrose hboot or any other hboot when can be s-off so that i can install any other rom with root rights.
I have also tried "[TOOL][SCRIPT][11 Jun 2012]S-off for HBOOT 1.16 and above v3.2" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697) but it doesnt work as it stopped as waitting for device or if go far then it give error of permission denied .
Please help
i am nearly dead.....
As far as Superuser goes, did you install the latest version? I originally installed an old copy I had stored on my PC but it was incompatible with Android 4. I got the latest version and flashed that and everything worked fine second time around.
Thanks for your reply.
Can you please provide the name of the downloaded latest su binary .
I used su-bin-3.1-x86-signed.zip
I used Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
Thanks i will try that...
Thanks Mr NICK It works ....my bad i was using wrong file.
I have installed Busybox as well.
Only one last question if one can answer is there a possibility to add a single tweak of volume key wakeup over RUU ICS 3.5 sense?
IF that happen it will make a lot easier.

Hey Guys,
i have quite a serious issue with my HTC Incredible S i bought in Thailand.
As it was S-On, I first went for a XTC-Clip. The mobile had hboot 1.13.***
As XTC Clip offered only hboot 1.09, i simply chose that one and my phone was S-OFF a few minutes later. Everything ok.
As a second step, i installed CWM 4.0.0.4 to make a snapshot of my current system.
Since the mobile is still running stock 2.2, i tried to do an OTA upgrade from HTC.
Much to my suprise this upgrade failed (wrong model id). I then downloaded a custom ROM from XDA (Virtuous Unity 1.27.0 Sense 3.0) and tried to flash it via CWM. The installer stopped then with a cryptic error message (pls. see enclosed picture).
I suspect XTC Clip changed/replaced parts of my hboot and thus the phone has a wrong ID which prevents me from installing any new ROM or upgrades.
So i did some research and thought, that Alpharev-X could solve the problem
I ran the tool (beta2) and everything went smooth. But the problem with the model ID still persists
I checked my hboot, which gives me the following details:
AlphaRev
VIVO PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.13.1002
RADIO-38.02.01.11_M
eMMC-boot
Does anyone of you has an idea how to "unlock" my phone so that i can flash the ROMs of this great community?
Thank you very much in advance for any help!
Best regards,
H.

Rest assured, your phone is unlocked and has security turned off so that you can flash custom ROMs. I can only assume that you must have a IncS model 710d. At some point during the IncS international releases, the internal model switched from "incs" to "vivo". The ROM you are trying to install is looking for "incs", not "vivo". I would suggest you try another one of the custom ROMs and see if they will install.

No, the OTA update is failing because you have ClockworkMod recovery installed. OTA updates require that the original HTC recovery be in place.
hello,
i could finally install the MIU ROM for the IncS and from there successfully upgrade to the Virtuous ROM v1.29.
Again many thanks for your help!

Alpharev is not working for me , Please help me.
I followed these steps mentioned here--
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-s-off-htc-incredible-s-alpharev-hack-tool/
Hope anyone help me out..
I easily got s-off on my HTC desire S..
(For Example, on some Indian/Asian HTC Incredible S phones, this tool would get stuck here and the process won’t start. They need to install Optus RUU first in order to make this tool run — I’ve done the same, actually, on my Indian Incredible S. So, if it gets stuck, maybe, there is a problem with your phone then — better Google it. Good luck!).

There's your problem. You need to create a Goldcard and flash an RUU that's compatible with AlphaRevX and then try again.
from Revolutionary
Optus RUU 2.12.980.2 / Virgin RUU 2.12.981.2 .. Most Incredible S ROM versions with Gingerbread have been patched. If your Gingerbread version is lower than 2.12.980.2, then use the Optus/Virgin RUU with a goldcard to upgrade to Optus RUU 2.12.980.2 / Virgin RUU 2.12.981.2, then you can use Revolutionary. .. Versions higher than 2.12.980.2 will have to wait until
a new temproot is released. Known patched versions lower are: 2.12.720.5 and 2.12.774.6 and probably all 2.12.7*.*

From a guide FOUND HERE
Special thanks to JohnAnderton on this info :
If AlphaRevX isn't working for you (kept "hanging" at Step 2 i.e. attempting to get root). This was because AlphaRevX doesn't work with certain carrier variants are GingerBreak patched
It didn't work for me on the India/Asia version.
To check your software version, go to settings > about > software version > build version. If it says 2.12.720.5, I'm sorry but you'll have to do the Optus/Virgin AU ROM installation.
Here are the steps to do that:
1) Download the Optus ROM (261 MB)
2) create a gold card
3) run the ROM installer and wait for it to extract, go to your tmp folder (start > run > %tmp% > sort by date > see newest folder > dig in deep and find rom.zip)
4) take rom.zip and put it on your SD with the name PG32IMG.zip
5) Reboot your phone into boot loader (this can be done by switching your phone off, waiting 5 seconds, turning your phone on with the volume down pressed). It will see that you have PG35IMG.zip so it will verify and install it. It will come to the boot loader again and once it's done installing it will load the OS (the regular HTC white page followed by Optus' logo. Once you're in the OS, remove PG32IMG.zip

theres a new update with revolutionary and you can now s-off the htc inc s with gingerbread.
it took me 3 mins to s-off
Ok. Let me clear this out (once again).
AlphaRevX does not work on all versions. Versions known not to work at include the stock OTA GB upgrade that Indians (such as myself) got and 2.30.xx and some versions above.
Why doesn't AlphaRevX work everywhere? Because HTC patched the temp root exploit gingerbreak used (AlphaRevX uses gingerbreak in step 2).
Use Revoluionary. It uses a different temp root method and for now, works on all (as far as I know) versions of HTC Inc S.
http://revolutionary.io
How do you use it? The same way you always used AlphaRevX?
Want a tutorial.. you really should use search but meh, here you go..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1137008
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14924283&postcount=83
And if you would have looked decently well, you would have found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14865832&postcount=32 which clearly states that AlphaRevX doesn't work on the Indian GB ROM (I know cause I was there on Day 1 of AlphaRevX going public). That post always gives a solution..
Anything else?
Yay, someone quoted me.. Thanks NikonElite
Hello everyone, this is my first post at XDA Devs. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this since there are lots and lots of infos in these forums.
However, although I have been reading for hours and keept on trying, I haven't been able to S-OFF my Incredible S. I hope someone can tell me what to focus on or what I might have missed.

John, you say this, but I am pretty positive that it somehow doesn't work on my phone.
Here's my situation:
I have a Windows 7 x64 system and a HTC Incredible S S710e phone with Android 2.3.3, HTC Sense 2.1 and the Software number is 2.30.405.1.
I live in Germany and that's where I bought my phone so I assume it has the European shipping ROM running.
I downloaded the Revolutionary tool from http://revolutionary.io/ and generated a beta-key. I disabled fast boot, enabled debugging, rebooted the phone and went into airplane mode. Still - the patch won't work. It's not like with all the other users that it gets stuck after a few minutes. It tells me "failed to get root " right after a few seconds. I tried this at least 25 times now in different combinations with AntiVir on and off, with airplane mode on and off, with Disk Drive mode and Charge Only mode. Always with the same "failed to get root" result.
So I found another solution: the GoldCard. That's what I did. I got a fresh SD Card, formatted it into FAT32. I created a goldcard image with my reversed CID via http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard and used the Hex-Editor to modify the values. I downloaded the Optus ROM [RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_Optus_AU_2.12.980.2_R_Radio _20.2803.30.085AU_3805.04.03.12_M_release_185028_s igned] from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033922 but the HBOOT loader told me "Update failed - Main Version is older" or something like that.
In another thread, someone said I had to install the same or a newer software version of what I have. So I installed the same: 2.30.405.1. No error message, the Update was successful. But: the phone is still in S-ON. Well, it wasn't the Optus ROM after all...
My question is: which ROM do I have to install via GoldCard so that I can get S-OFF - either instantly or after then applying Revolutionary?
I'm very sorry if there is already the solution for this somewhere here but I used the search function genuinely and never found it. I'm not a forum noob - just to this one.
I have read these threads and guides:

Version 2.30.405.1 has been succesfully S-Off'd using Revolutionary. Did you also download and install the HTC Windows drivers from the Revolutionary documentation page?.
No, I have not.
I always read I had to install the latest version of HTC sync to get the drivers and then de-install the Sync program. But I didn't try any Revolutionary drivers yet.
Thank you for that tip, I will try tomorrow and give feedback.

to me it is the same, I bought my HTC Incredible S (s700e) on amazon and it came with unlocked and updated version gingerbread asian rom.
(RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.12.707.5_Radio_20.2805.30.085AU_3805.04.03.27_M_release_190036_signed).
I did the gold card and put the rom of Korea.
(RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_KT_KR_2.21.1010.4_Radio_20.2805.30.085AU_3805.04.03.27_M_release_194748_signed).
and now I can replace the rom that I had, says error [140]: error bootloader version, I wanted to put in s-off but I can not my phone is anchored to the korea rom that is not someone to make this happen?
Okay, I can't believe it just went so fast.
It turned out I had already downloded and used the drivers given in the revolutionary documentation. [can't put links here, I'm too fresh for this forum]
I tried it again with those but it didn't work. While I was re-reading the documentation, I noticed that a newer version of the revolutionary tool has been published since I first downloaded and tried it so many times.
My first version 0.3pre7 couldn't do it but the now available version 0.4pre4 did the trick!! My phone is now S-OFF!
It was so simple this time. Used the drivers mentioned above, downloaded the 0.4pre4 revolutionary and generated the beta key. Started the phone with enabled debugging, disabled fastboot and went into airplane mode. I deactiveted Windows Firewall and AVG AntiVir on my Win7 x64 PC. I started the tool, waited for 3 minutes for the phone to reboot a few times and after the success it even installed the clockmod recovery thingy.
Great work, AlphaRev and unrevoked. I will donate!!
Thank you also tpbklake for making me aware of the documentation again.

Go to the site http://revolutionary.io and read their documentation page completely. Install the appropriate drivers and then download the most current version and get a new beta key. Your HBOOT can be S-OFF using Revolutionary, you just need to follow the instructions completely.
install the latest htc sync and uninstall the htc sync alone keeping the drivers...now try the revolutionary step again..

In ur case revolutionary s-off works 100%
tested my self
I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me in my quest to install the OTA update for the Incredible S to 2.3.5, sense 3.0.
I have previously rooted, back in the Summer of this year so think it would have been Alpha or Revoked. Have tried a couple of things to restore S-On in order to run the stock update.
I have tried several methods to flash a new HBOOT, including flashing the OTA from Sense and the bootloader, and have tried to flash a new PG32IMG as well.
Most recently I have extracted a Rom.zip from a working Incredible S/Vivo RUU, and tried to put on the Hboot from this after running the Vivo Downgrade.img - for both of these I keep getting "Can not roll back hboot version" on the bootloader screen after pushing to the device with FASTBOOT.
Since installing the PG32IMG.zip I tried, I have changed to Vivo PVT SHP S-OFF RL on the bootloader. The other details are:
HBOOT - 700.1000
RADIO - 3805.04.03.22_M
eMMC - boot
Other than having S-Off and being rooted, I am running Stock 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I'm going wrong, or what Hboot I can flash to overcome this please!
Is your Inc s locked to a network or did you get it sim free, that could be a problem you might be having. If you went from a custom rom to stock rom did you use the correct ruu to go to rom which is right for your country.
The phone itself is sim free. I used an RUU that was as similar to the OTA update naming as possible:
RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.30.405.1_Radio_20.2808.30.085AU_3805.06.03.03_M_release_199308_signed
elthrawno , i have the same problem?
have a solution??
plzz help...
thank you...

Since you are S-Off using Revolutionary, the Revolutionary HBOOT is preventing you from overwriting it so you won't lose S-Off. If you truly want to return to a stock ROM then you need to follow this procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15732727&postcount=14
I've followed the method on there, but not convinced I have the full SDK suite installed, so might be worth me retrying once I have.
Hi guys,
This is my first post here. I just bought a home-used HTC Incredible S which was running Gingerbread. I have been able to officially update it to 4.0.4. Currently, these are the parameters in the recovery mode.

These are other details in case you need some more information.
Android Version 4.0.4
HTC Sense Version 3.6
Software number 4.10.405.1
I want to be able to root it just to install some apps, no need to install custom ROMs. I need help as to how to go about this. I have read various threads, but no hope. SuperOneClick also hangs at step 7. As much as possible, I don't want to downgrade before I root. How do I root my phone as it is now?

You have to downgrade because of your hboot version.
When I rooted, I was on gingerbread with hboot 2.02. I still had to downgrade to 1.13 to flash custom recovery etc.
To root, check one of these threads. I do not think you have a choice because unlike some of the older phones, the IncS has a complex security system to prevent "rooting" which was implicated by htc. HTC has now allowed the bootloader to be unlocked which makes life easier for us to root.
These "OneClick" roots almost never work on the IncS due to it's security. It will work on phones like the Galaxy Ace because to gain root access you just have to tweak the settings.
Hope I helped.

You have helped a lot. I have followed the procedure on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36489294#post36489294
However, I got locked at step 5. I have put in some questions on that thread but I've not gotten any answers yet. Thanks.
It seems that you have failed only at the part where you are "testing" root access. Rather than fixing this, there are other ways to test if you have root access..
-Bootloader should have **Revolutionary** or **Blackrose**
-Recovery should be clockworkmod or 4ext
-There should be an app called superuser in ur app list.
-Furthermore, you can install an app called Root Checker, and check if u got root access. I do not guarantee it works, but give it a try.
If all these tests return positice, chances are u got root access.
Also, if u are still on revolutionary hboot and clockwordmod, i reccommend you upgrade to blackrose hboot and 4ext recovery.
Blackrose because of compatibility, and 4ext because it is easier to use.
Keep in mind that you need an unsecured boot.img for blackrose, so make a nandroid of ur rom and flash cm7. Then install blackrose. It should work. If u do not have unsecured boot.img, you will recieve an error.

You do not need to downgrade.. Follow the steps of the Noob's guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105
I had myself rooted the device after updating 2.3 to official ICS update...
PS: your HTC Sync should be updated one..

The hboot goes to 1.16. This is called downgrading.

You can go by the HTC way and unlock your boot loader

thanks.. i understand what downgrading means and that is what I have suggested...
my phone had same parameters from the recovery mode and did not require to downgrade the HBOOT to root..

But the guide you suggested still downgrades the phone.

Could be.. I went through it and could not locate it.. maybe some 'in between the line reading'
I had applied these steps to my phone with HBOOT 2.0 and it worked perfectly fine...

First time ever posting in a forum, I am usually very good at figuring stuff out. So I am trying to Root my sprint htc one. I have unlocked the bootloader (highlighted in pink) I loaded recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.5-m7ul (tampered highlighted in black).
trying to root the phone and nothing is working. I have tried the 3.2-RC3, r1-htcone-superboot,Superuser-1.0.1.7-CWM.
Android version 4.3
HTC Sense version 5.0
Software version 3.05.651.5
HTC SDK API level 5.45
Kernel version 3.4.10-g06ba99c, [email protected]#1, SMP PREEMPT
Build number 3.05.651.5 CL287929 release-keys
HBOOT-1.55.0000
RADIO-1.00.20.1108
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
os-3.05.651.5
eMMC-boot 2048mb
When I run superuser from recovery it goes through fine, says finish no errors. When I run my root checker I get error of: sorry this device does not have proper root access. I run supersu and get: there is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 4.3 you need to manually re-boot consul the relevant forums for your device!
not sure if this is too much info, but wanted to make sure I had enough...I am at a lost. I have been working on this for about a week now.
Please Help
First problem I see is you used the wrong recovery you should have use this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2238324
Installing the correct recovery may or may not work you may need to re-lock your bootloader and run the 3.05.651.5 RUU
thank you
thanks for the quick response there, will be trying this out later tonight...
