[Guide] Making Beweather icon pack - Android Themes

Several people have asked me how i change my beweather icons. In fact in my litttle dev group im the bewather guy lmao (inside joke nevermind). So, here is a guide on how to make your own icon pack for beweather.
If some of you do now know what Beweather is, it is a FANTASTIC weather app. I have been using it for a while, even back when i was in my Blackberry days. Here is the link to the page telling you more about the Beweather app. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211903
Items needed
Fist, make sure you have 7-zip installed on your computer. If you do not then search for it on google, download, then install.
Next download any icon pack from beweather. OR for now go ahead and download one of my latest ones here. http://d-h.st/pml
How to:
Now its time to get down to business.
Create a new folder on your desktop called...well whatever. Keep it called New Folder for all i care.
The icon packs are in a .bwi format. Locate the .bwi file on your computer and right click on it. Move your mouse cusor down to 7-zip, then select Open Archive. Basically this allows you to edit the file (including zips and apks) without unzipping or decompliling. Select all the icons and drag them over to that New Folder you created on your desktop. Now you will be able to open the icons and edit them.
Edit the icons: Basically just do that lol. Use your favorite program like gimp, Microsoft Paint, or my favorite Photoshop to open the pic and edit it. Make sure you save the icon back to the same name it originally was.
When you are done editing your icons, go back to the .bwi file and use 7-zip to open the archive once again. Now that the archive is open, go ahead and open back up the New Folder you created. You should have both folders open now. Select all the icons from the new folder and drag them into the Archive of 7-zip. A box with pop up asking if your sure you was to copy files to that file...select YES. WARNING: anytime you use this method you MUST be sure that the files your adding are NAMED THE SAME or it wont work right.
Now that your done moving icons, You can rename the file to anything you want by right clicking on the .bwi file and selecting Rename. Just be sure to keep it a .bwi file.
Congrats! You now have a new icon pack! Call you Mom and make her proud that instead of doing something useful, you spent time making weather icons...
To install the icons simply move them to the Beweather folder on your sd card.
Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!

Eclair Icons - For Your Pleasure

Here are some icons that I ripped out of an Eclair ROM I found here on XDA. You can use them with your favorite icon editing app. Enjoy.
EDIT: Updated some icons based on some themes floating around here. I will most likely not be updating this anymore. I used these icons before I found a full theme and figured I'd post them for anyone who wanted to change some of their icons without having to flash a full theme. So, here they are.

It's a very lengthy and tedious process, but here goes:
1) Open up your ROM (with something like WinRAR) and pull all the apps from /system to somewhere like your desktop.
2) Then open the apk in winrar and find the find the icon, they're normally in the res/drawables folder.
3) Then find the icon you want to replace it with, give it the same name as the icon it's replacing, and drag it in to winrar. It should ask if you want to replace, say yes and you're done
4) Repeat for as many apps as you want.
Thanks alot man!

The easiest way to use these icons without having to change individual APKs is to use AnyCut or BetterCut. You still have to do them individually but the good thing is that My Backup Pro will save the state of those changes if you ever have to restore your home screen.
But like I said in the OP edit, I now use a theme so I no longer use these.
Thanks for your help. it's very useful.
But you are using Cyanogen 4.2.3.1, Can i use Cyanogen on my hero.
I tried unable to

it would tell you invalid signature or some other error. these are icons, there are no .apk files in this, there is no META-INF folder, so in essence, nothing would happen.

[Q] How do i change my unread msg counter?

Was wondering if anyone had instructions as to how to do this? Had a search through the forum, but didnt find much on it
Any Help is appreciated
Many Thanks

If you install this app you have a folder called "com.kanokgems.smswidget"
which you can find at you sd-card/data.
Then just place your images in the sms unread folder in the data folder on your sd card, it will show up under custom images from SMSUnread settings menu
Nice screen
This method works in that it shows the image I've created to be used in Desktop Visualizer. The problem I am coming up with is when the image shows up on the screen it is much smaller than what it would normally show up.
It's a 1x2 size image.
Any ideas? Stretching it on the screen hasn't worked.
^^ Make the icon bigger in the first place? instead of trying to stetch it out later.
Is the email icon really only limited to gmail? I have 2 accounts i check frequently... neither of which are gmail lol!

Adb pull the app (uninstall it after), open with winrar, mod the apk with your own icons, you can either mod the assets folder or Res/drawable-hdpi/mdpi holder. Use 48x48 or 72x72 icons. Sign the apk. Install it normally. You can do all this using apk manager.

Editing TouchWiz30Launcher.apk

I need a help. Please look at this topic
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822523&highlight=touchwiz
This man and many others people on XDA-forum editing TouchWiz app. Original homescreen by Samsung. They are changing icons, adding backgrounds etc etc. Please could anyone help me or anyone know how to do that? This app - TouchWiz30Launcher.apk - is in system/apps. How or in which program I could edit for example icons or add new dock to bottom? Anybody know?
Please for all. Could anyone help me with this?
ok first you have to be on jpy firmware then you have to take the twlauncher30.apk from the thread you referenced and you need to be rooted an use root explorer to install to your phone by backing up the existing .apk and .odex (rename see instructions in other thread) and then overwritting it with the one from that thread.
the one from that thread is de-odexed so you can edit the .png (icons) using microsoft photo editor or something else and then replace the .png directly in the .apk file with 7zip.. then you can put modified .apk on phone in sameway..
here is my modified version with a modified "bender" launcher icon

Ok i learned this now but where I can change norification bar? In which app? Also in TouchWiz30Launcher.apk?
notification bar is in framwork-res.apk in system/framework..
same method using 7zip to change icons and then put back on phone with root explorer.. after putting back on phone stuff will start crashing and you should reboot.. (may need to pull battery).. make sure you have backups of originals.
notification pulldowns (not the bar) are much more comlicated and you have to change .jar files in the system as well.
Many thanks =) Changing icons in notification bar looks quite hard Is there any easier method?
what i did is find some other rom or custom rom you like and get the framwork-res.apk from that (you know you can just unzip the .apk and then use windows explorer to browser the directories to see all icons at once)
then you can open your framework-res with 7zip and the one with icons you like in another instance of 7zip and then just cut and past the icons (they need to be the same name... as some have additional icons and that entails decompiling and changing .xml files and recompiling and resigning.. much more complicated)... anyway just cut and paste directly from one 7zip into the other (your modifed framework-res from your curent firmware on your phone) then put it back on your phone.

The original theme was created by Lord Kokkei, and the HD upgrade was made by enzom21, both @ macthemes.net. Several icons came later by macthemes users.
This is a extremely small icon package, just the icons I use. Inside the MTZ there are some other icons, but need to be renamed to match the app package. If you want to add more, you will need to edit the theme and manually add and rename the icons you need. Sorry but i cant help you with that since I dont have those apps.
The template for new icons can be found here, and a lot of icons that can match apps in android market:
http://macthemes.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16806094
If you guys add more icons, you can post it here already renamed and I could update the pack to get a more complete package.

The file "icons" its really a zip without the extension... extract the contents, and rename the file to icons.zip, and then you can add more... just remember to remove the extension again inside the mtz.
For your custom icons you will need to make them, on that link at macthemes, there are some templates in PSD format you can edit and make your required icons.
Thanks so much! I was hoping someone did the hard work of porting this to miui.

[MODS] AOSP mdpi Lockscreen Ring Mods

Bored of the same old crappy lock icon in CM10/AOSP Roms?!
Well Look no further, these icons will change the Lock icon to a selection of custom images, made by me :3
Code:
I am not responsible for anything at all, if you brake your phone, your problem not mine, but i will help because i'm a nice guy!
These will probably only work on AOSP roms, but i have only tested these myself on CM10 w CRT and they work flawlessly, no lag, nothing like that! So enjoy using them guys :3
Okay so now on how to install you desired ring, it is not as easy as just flashing the zip in recovery, plainly because, their is no zip for you to flash :highfive: Haha, so you need to make some edits to your Framework-res.apk instead until i can be bothered to make a flashable zip for these
First Thing you guys need to do is find your framework-res.apk, i'm sure you allknow where it is but just incase i'll tell you :3 It is Located in the Desired Rom Zip under System>framework>and there it is! I personally would extract it to my desktop and leave it there for later :3
**********
The second thing your gonna wanna do is Decompile or find any way in which you like to extract the res folder that is inside the .apk, again, i'd extract this to my Desktop again because it's an easy place to put it :3
**********
The next thing your gonna need to do is press Thanks on this post to unlock the download Just kidding but, yeah, What you gotta do is download my zip of mods, have a browse of them until you find the one you like, and extract the two images in the Resized folder to, you guessed it, the desktop You can use the other images outside the folder but the image will be bigger (HDPI)
**********
So Now you've got the two chosen images on your desktop, navigate into the res folder you extracted earlier and navigate to drawable-mdpi, this is all the images and stuff that make parts of your phone, i'd leave most of this alone unless you know what you doing
**********
Now drag and drop the two custom images into the drawable-mdpi folder and allow the files to be overwritten, now put the res folder back into the framework-res.apk and recompile it or do just whatever method it is you like to get the custom res folder back into the .apk
**********
Now, you can either put the framework apk back into the rom zip, and reflash it with your custom lockring, however this is time consuming, and takes longer, can cause errors blah blah blah, you get the idea, so instead just copy the apk to your SD card and use a root browser to copy it
**********
Once the custom framework-res.apk is copied, simply paste it in the system>framework>HERE of your phone, accept the overwrite, your phone will immediately reboot and this is okay, it will then boot up, and your lockscreen ring will change :3
**********
Example of the kinds of rings you can have and what they look like on our Device
However i only have three, because that's all i took screenies of, the first two are ones that wernt resized, but the third one is :3
