Hi guys, I was wondering if it was possible to remap soft keys in our i9000. I wanted to change menu button to work like that:
normal press: active apps
long press: menu
Im on aokp b39
//Edit
I was looking in '/system/usr/keylayout' but I don't really know what to change there...

What device?
If you're running WinMo 6 search the forum for PTT remap (or re-assign), some custom ROMs allow you to map whatever you want on long or short press of the HW buttons.
Hi all,
My softkeys don't work long time ago so I have found solutions to:
- Use the multimedia player: You can remap the buttons like play, next...
- I have redesigned home screen to put the sms on the top.
- Use the red button to lock the phone
- Use the power button to change the sound profiles.
But I don't know how to unlock the phone using another keys instead the left softkey. Anybody know how to do this?
Best regards,
long press for all the buttons are now pretty much re mappable in some way (CM is a great example). But the menu button's long press cannot be re mapped to my knowledge.
To me the default menu long press is pretty useless. am i the only one that thinks this? is there a method i am overlooking that lets one remap the long press menu?
It brings up the keyboard right ? Its quite useless but has helped me bring back the terminal on numerous occasions
Hello, the new HTC ICS phones use three capacitive buttons Home, back, and a multitasking button. How would this work in legacy apps that require a menu button? I ask because I would love to have the captivate menu button function as a multitasking button without changing any of the other buttons. Is this possible?
Hey all, I recently upgraded from FireKat v19 to DomPop 2.2.3 and everything seems to be working great but I have one lingering issue I'd like to resolve and that is key mappings.
I know someone figured out how to turn the menu button back to its Note3 function but I'd like to make double tap home open Google now and long press home to open something besides s-reminders.
Is this possible?
