I got my Bionic not too long ago. I liked it right away. I flashed eclipse 3.0 a week after I got the Bionic. Then I flashed the .2233 ICS leak when it came out and then I just flashed .230 two days ago. Although I get about 13 hours on wifi and a little 3G, I think it should last longer. I do live in a bad coverage area and am using the standard battery. Is there any way I can improve battery life or have I maxed it out? Im open to flashing any functional ICS roms but would prefer not to go back to gingerbread. Thanks!

Screen at lowest brightness
Turn off cellular data when not in use(if push messages aren't important)
Turn off 4g when not in use(you'll need an app)
Other than these, I can't think of anything.
If you haven't removed/frozen some of the bloatware that will help. A lot of the programs verizon loads run in the background and kill the battery. You can either freeze them in Titanium backup or use root explorer and goto the system/data folder and rename the file extensions. Don't delete them otherwise you'll have to reflash for an OTA (not very applicable with you being on a leaked ICS right now).
The other thing I've looked at it how many free apps are you using that have ads in them. I did an experiment and uninstalled all my free apps that had ads and saw a better battery.

I spent the last week in South Carolina (4G LTE the whole time), and my battery held up like a champ. I could easily go a full day streaming music for at least 6 hours in that time, with Bluetooth on, reading books at high brightness too. My car charger was being a douche on the trip home though, so using Google Maps Navigation while watching HQ YouTube or streaming Pandora (with Bluetooth on still) with the screen on the whole time would kill the battery in about 4 hours.

I maximize my battery by turning data off when at home and using wifi, turn brightness down, BT off, and froze bloat. I will also periodically check and see what is running in background and close some of the apps down that im not using.

I have similar issue with my Bionic with Stock Rom. Replacing it with a Note II' when I get it back from Samsung repair. Plan on giving Bionic to my Father and want best battery life for him. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

use system panel and see which processes and apps are using your cpu. its a free app, but the paid version gives you much more options and shows you a list of each app that used your cpu. that's what you need.
btw, system panel is by far the best app for this on the market!

What ROM and Kernel are you on and how long ago did you flash to it (assuming it's a custom ROM)?
Reason I ask is that I had sleep issues with a ROM that was fine but somehow didn't flash well. Reflashing the same ROM over fixed my battery issues. This might not be what's going on with you just any bit of info can help when it comes to chasing down ghost CPU cycles/battery issues.
Also, did you recalibrate you battery yet? It could be an issue of your battery not getting charged to 100% or dying before <1%
Ok cool I just downloaded the free version do you think I should buy the paid version better?

Hi! I have cyanogem mod 6.1
0 running kernel 2.6.35
9 cyanogenmod shade @ toxygene #2
I flashed a while ago but it seemed ok then. I'm not 100 percent sure but it kinda seems the problem started when I did a backup and a restore. ;(

Can someone running this Continuum 5 RC3 & talon kernel and who's used Google Maps apps please check their battery usage? According to my battery usage, google maps is using an excessive amount of battery, even if I'm not using the app. It's at the top of the list for battery use, even exceeding display and it's killing my battery. I dropped from full battery to 75 in less than 2 hours yesterday with no use except to periodically look at the battery level. I don't recall this happening in any of the Froyo ROMS. I even wiped and reflashed both the ROM and kernel just to make sure and it's still happening. I've frozen google maps in TB to stop it, but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and/or have a solution besides getting rid of it? Thanks.
Uninstalled maps and my battery life is looking MUCH better. You can always dl anothermap app from market.

Try rebooting the phones, battery pulls, or charging from an outlet instead of a computer.

I am with you. No issues so far!!
Mine has been plugged into a charger (not a USB port) for 5 hours. Started at 40% and has maxed at 60%. When I get home I'm going to go ahead and shut her down and try a different charger. May be some funky batteries. Nothing else has bothered me (and to tell the truth I've been messing around with it every 10 minutes so it may actually be charging!)

So far the only "bug" I have found is reception/signal strength is crappy. With my Bolt I was able to get 4g in my home and 4g at work. At my desk now I get no signal (Bolt 4g 1-2 bars), on my drive home tends to drop to 3g often (bolt stays on 4g), and at home 3g only one bar (bolt 4g 2 bars).
I really am begging to like the Bionic love having the moto keyboard back but the radio is making me hesitate keeping it.

I'll second this. Reception has been fantastic for me as well. Significantly better than the Incredible and Fascinate I used prior to this. Moto always has had good reception IME. Some of the best.
I just really, really, don't like this screen. I'm spoiled coming off of Super AMOLED from Samsung. It's not as bad as others I've seen in my day, but I certainly expected better from a flagship phone.
Aside from that and a locked boot loader, the phone's actually pretty good. Love the LTE speeds and how snappy it is.

Have to agree.. in my house going between my tbolt and bionic I get consistanly better 4g reception witht he tbolt.. (running shifttheory thanks droidtheory)
I was thinking maybe it was the rainstorms here but after moving the sim back to the tbolt that is not the case.
well after checking the status in the phone they are both around the same dec... -88 to -91.. in the same location.. however the tbolt shows more bars...
Also I do notice that the speed seems to be a little better on the bionic...
now if a decent theory rom could come out for this...
You can't judge by bars. Some Roms show different bar ratings than stock.
I'm getting about the same reception between the two.

This phone sucks at multitasking. Galaxy S2 has a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor as well, but it multitasked with ease. This phone feels like an old person that's gonna croak over and die whenever I multitask things. Ex: I'd be downloading an app and go to my messages to read a new message. The phone lags like hell before it opens the message.
The only reason I haven't traded it or sold it is because the only phone I'd consider purchasing right now is an iPhone 4s. I agree android is a bit better but I got bored of it.
But the multitasking problem is the main reason why I dislike this phone (aside from locked BL and and 3 giant buttons taking up the screen.)

Personally, the ENTIRE time I've had my Atrix, I never noticed any multitasking lag...
Then again, it all depends on how you use the phone in the first place...
I mainly download, tweet, listen to music and (attempt to) clear the MGS VR missions on mine and I can switch back and forth rather smoothly...
the phone lags when trying to do more than one thing at a time, on any rom.

Have you frozen most, if not all the stock bloatware, have a static wallpaper (nothing that moves), doth thou use task killers?
Oh and what's your usual CPU usage? (What's your hourly average... guestimate if you have to...)
I used pimp my rom and set the oom values to medium and used greenify to hibernate apps and my phone is running great.

Then we do most of the same. If I download an app (let's say Firefox mobile.) I'd go back to twitter, but it'd take a while for twitter to come back up. Even if I don't clear my recent apps, it will still lag when I'm on there.

It would only get laggy if you have a ton of "recent apps"...
I usually keep 5~7 apps recent and clear away the apps I don't need to keep "recent"
Oh and you could use greenify too while you're at it...

I buyed my AHD at 250$ factory unlock on kijiji in very good condition and for the price I think its a very verry good phone I was going to buy a one S at 320 when I saw this phone . Now Im so happy with it no lags at all. If someone unlock the bootloader it will be a purchase of gold

I never said I used all that
I just use Greenify and switch between a static and live wallpaper all the time... (I'm very indecisive...)
All I did was mention various tactics to to help... Oh and to mention that task killers are bad... Just the usual stuff...
I've tried using greenify and can't get much out of it because you cant do anything with system apps.
That's why you pair it with other battery saving apps like juice defender...
IMO I used JD's Extreme Settings, and just go with that and greenify.
I haven't charged from yesterday, leaving about 53% (I had 55% at midnight, left wi-fi on...)
I've watched Skyfall (in glorious HD) with wi-fi on in the background, and I'm about to start the last Ninja VR Mission for MGS with 32% left.
No Lag, No Issues. If people still insist on complaining about the phone, so be it. This phone is a diamond in the rough, you have to be the one to make it what is.

Weird thing. I've played with the wifi settings, switched from dhcp to static ip and it disabled the connection due to slow conn mesage that appeared, although I was right next to the router. Anyways, I reverted back to automatic dhcp then just a thought to go back to processes and this is what I've found: android os for over 15 hours although i plugged the phone from charger about 5 hours ago...

Android OS battery drain!
Hey Y'all,
So I've been having some really bad battery drain issues involving Android OS on my new Note 3. I've been looking around for days trying to find the culprit and stumbled upon this:
(SORRY, it's not letting me post the link I don't have enough posts so I'll change HTTP for hteeteep, mods I apologize but I can't easily summarize the processes and explanations offered on this page.)
hteeteep://gs3.wonderhowto.com/how-to/reduce-battery-drain-your-samsung-galaxy-s3-by-fixing-android-system-usage-0142361/
It has to do with gsiff_daemon a non-utilized but highly active GPS sensor daemon. I followed the instructions posted there and renamed the file. After that Android OS went back to normal % of CPU usage. When you look at CPU usage under developer option you can see that gsiff_daemon is constantly using resources. Since I disabled it my battery life has improved dramatically and I have yet to notice any "side effects". The phone works perfectly and all other apps are working properly. I think between this fix and staying away from "Enable location over Wi-Fi " should help most people with battery drain issues. I hope this helps!
