[Q] MiniCM9 app compatibility? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why are some apps not compatible with MiniCM9 although they are perfectly compatible with other ICS roms such as IScreamDX? By incompatible I mean that playstore says its not compatible with my E15i when I'm using MiniCM9 rom.
Also, some things that you should know:
>>I did not change my LCD Density
>>I check the build.prop and its almost identical with IScreamDX particularly the lines which states the product brand, name, model etc.
>>The problem might not be with the build.prop because I tried installing it through TB but it says that the cannot be installed But I'm no developer so I can't really be sure.
Is there something I can edit in order to make these apps compatible?
Thanks!

maybe you forget to factory reset?
SO
for example :
your position is on IScreamDX backup your data first!
then
copy paste your ROM on sdcard
Flash the latest ICS kernel with flashtool!
Backup!
factory reset, wipe data, etc
Flash the ICS ROM 3.0.3
DOne!
and after you successful the installation or get your phone on minicm9 ,
restore your data
cwm - backup & restore - advance
and all your apps would be upgrading by it self!

I do full wipe before I install any rom. I think the problem is with MiniCM9. Although its not a major problem because it only happens to a few apps. (or in my case, just one app) Its just annoying that I can't use it with MiniCM9. I also tried backing up and restoring my data thru CWM but it also did not work.

MMDA app. It's an app which gives traffic updates here in the Philippines. I don't think devs would bother fixing such a small bug. And based on my google searches, I think I'm the only one who have this problem in MiniCM9. I saw a similar problem in a thread for another phone but unfortunately no solution was given.

Im sorry dude i cant help you..
but you can try it..
I had sent some bugs when I using MiniCM 2.1.4
and my question was replied quickly!
Just try it...

I fixed it! The problem was with the gapps I've been using. Thanks to your advice about restoring through CWM, I think I confused my google account and I was able to download the app but when I installed it the error "missing shared library" popped up and that's how I figure out it was the gapps. Thanks a lot! :victory:

[Q] Question about GalaxianSoup 1.7.3

I'm posting in this forum and not the official thread because I don't yet have the requisite number of posts to post in development forums.
I installed GalaxianSoup beta 1.7.3 last night and it's a great ROM. Must quicker and better than the stock experience. This ROM is almost capable of being my daily driver except for one particularly crippling problem. It occurs when I long press on any item on my homescreen. Rather than allowing me to move, remove, or resize the item, it instead causes the screen to quickly go blank, change orientation, and then return to the original orientation. So, basically, it prevents me from making changes to my homescreens. When I long press on a blank area, it behaves properly. This problem only occurs when I long press on an icon or widget.
Any ideas?
Update:
I can eliminate this problem by locking the screen orientation. If all else fails, I suppose it's not TOO big of a hassle to lock the orientation before making changes to my homescreen, but I'd rather find a fix instead of a workaround.
Thats very strange, i have never seen or heard about this problem. I can resize/move/create folders without any problems.
You are using the stock launcher, correct? Did you wipe data, cache and dalvik when you installed the rom? Did you restore anything?
Have you tried to clear Launcher cache and data?
Clearing Trebuchet's data and cache fixed it for me. Thanks a million.

Are you sure you are using Galaxian Soup rom? Our AOSP rom uses stock ICS launcher. Trebuchet is CM launcher.

I have always been able to move/resize widgets and create folders on homescreen. This should work on all versions of Galaxian Soup AOSP roms. What exactly doesn't work for you?
I can move them around, that's pretty much it.
Was seriously missing the resize feature from CM9 SGS2, but this rom was so smooth with everything else. Maybe I should try flashing 1.7.3 and see what happens.
Is wiping data a necessity when changing rom on the tab? Got that impression from one of the last posts in the developer thread.

Resize widgets was intoduced in android 3.1 if i remember correctly. It has always worked for me. Of course the widget has to support it too.
You can create folders if you move one icon on top of the other. Thats a Android 4.0 feature.
I updated from aosp 1.6.4 to 1.7.3 without data wipe. Just wipe cache and dalvik. Dont forget to install the same version of gapps that you had on 1.6.4.
If you are coming from any other rom then im afraid you have to wipe data also.
I'll try a update and see what happens..

Ok, that makes more sense. I thought you are using our AOSP build because you have AOSP rom version number in topic of this thread.
I second this on the aokp, though using apex launcher. The problem usually goes away after a reboot.

[Q] [HELP ME] My apps Force Close on CM9

Hi guys!
I installed in first CM9 build of 17/05/2012 and every thing was good. But GooManager ask me to make an upgrade to the 23/05/2012 build and i do it.
After the flash i installed the Semaphore kernel 1.2.0, a datafix to avoid the storage message and finally i install the Gapps.
I reboot my device, open titanium backup and restore my apps. But when i open most of my apps it's make me a force close. Slightly angry i reflash the JVU 2.3.6 rom and restore again my apps, and the same problem appear.
Consequent 2/3 of my apps are unusable.
Please help me !!!
PS: my device is Samsung Galaxy S I9000
actually kernel: Semaphore 1.2.0
actually Rom: CM9 build 26/05/2012 (IMM76I)

There has been an issue with a recent version of tb, I experienced it too. I think latest version resolved it. Restoring app only will work.
Using GT-I9000 my sent Tapatalk 2 from.
what was your previous rom? this happened to me after restoring Titanium backups.. May be because of the data fixer, i don't know...
Thanks a lot men i resolved the problem. It was the apps data who causes conflicts .
happy to hear that congratulations
This doesn't seem like a great solution. Most of the time the point of an app restore from TB is to get the app data. I have this problem anytime I upgrade a rom or switch to a new one. This never used to happen pre ICS at all, but even then early on in teamhacksung roms it worked fine. On AOKP/CM9 it doesn't.
How can I restore apps+data after a factory reset/rom upgrade/switch and not have 2/3 of my apps crash?

Actually I am facing the same problem as well...
Did a backup of "everything" and wiped and installed another build von CM9 - almost all apps I tried to restore WITH data are crashing, which is quite annoying, because I loose all my accounts / savegames / etc.
Before switching to CM9 this restore was never a problem...
Maybe your option with the symbolic links will work - hopefully... stay tuned...
update: does not work - even after enabling this setting, app restore works, but apps+data still leads to a crash
Make sure you use the latest version of tb. There was a version which created a lot of these problems a while ago.
But in a few cases, I don't know any other solutions than restoring app only. Then try your most important app data backups one at the time. It's most likely that your backups became corrupted, that's also a good reason to keep a backup history of more than one.
Using GT-I9000 my sent Tapatalk 2 from.
that's all you can do now I think, one at a time and find which ones work, tedious but that's the way it goes when you flash a lot, I just don't value too much data I in my apps, and let's face it....game data really isn't that important

All the settings - but ok, it is definitely not the end of the world - on the other hand, just backing apps without data? From my point of view, data should be restorable as well...

They are force closing because
1.Those apps are incompatible for ur phone. They are still showing up on market because u might have changed the build.prop file.
2.Your phone might have less amt. of ram than the amt. needed by the app.
Try swapping ur phone.

Or

Which apps give force closes?it's just virtual tennis?
This game needs special graphic libs .
I don't know it needs the new adreno libs or the old ones but I can run it perfectly on my minicm7 rom(uses new adreno libs...)

i know it's not good to point fingers, i didnt say that Dagger is responsible for anything. and i know really well that he knows a lot lot more than i do, but telling that apps wont work in the device when they were working well before is just misleading man. if he doesn't know the answer, it's not helpful to give discouraging replies
Solved! SOLVED!!
Hey guys, I finally was able to solve the problem!
The problem was that large custom roms tend to crash the 3d games. So I installed a lighter rom miniCM7 and also installed the file Raj had given. Everything working fine now. Thanks for all your help and suggestions!!!:highfive::victory:

Wait for custom recovery. There you can backup/restore.
Thank you for the quick response. With custom recovery will I be able to backup and post here the backup for everybody else with Galaxy S Advance to use it ?
I'm no Expert but here's my answer..
As I now know that that the Developers are working on CWM Recovery... just wait for a few days for them to release.. you can then use it to make a nandroid copy of your "modified" ROM...
As of now, Varun is working on a Permanent CWM Recovery.. he has already made it but it has got some bugs in it so he's busy fixing em..

you can make a cwm .zip file with a script that erase /system folder and extract yours, optionally you can flash a kernel in the same script with dd tool, etc.

Great idea, but I think that the whole backup is more noob-proof. We can not predict what a mess could be done, like flashing that zip over a GB rom because that person do not read the thread.

well, thinking that way nothing is idiot-proof, why care too much about people not reading/not understanding what they're reading? by the way, if you make nandroid backup there's some risk (or at least for some roms) that the MAC address will be cloned - not a very good idea.
and there's always a big red disclaimer in OP, so...
btw. to the author: can I have a request/wish? it'd be JB AOSP lockscreen

Why care too much ? Best practices.
A good programmer care, if you can stop people of doing dumb things, better do it.
