Hello guys and girls
I'm at my last year at the University of Southern Denmark in Esbjerg (DK). And for an exam I wrote a month ago, I've developed my survey a little, so I can make a better analysis.
The survey is about smartphone and usage of the smartphone. At the last part (The boring part!!) I've made something called an orthogonal design. (more info in the survey)
I would be happy if some of you wanted to use apporoximately 10 minutes to make my education better.
Thanks in advance!

Yeah - just wait for all the positive comments you get here :silly:
I'm not entirely sure about this. You may be genuine, but you may not be - I'm not sure. However, a survey hosted by Ramboll Management Consulting - an extremely large consultancy firm - rings a bit dodgy to me I'm afraid mate.
Hi. That's because that's the system we have at our university. It's free for us at the camp.
I couldn't find a better survey system so I went down to the administrator and he gave me a license. I have heard about Ramboll, but in Denmark they are , as far as I know drilling after oil and setting up windmills. So.. you shouldn't be afraid of anything bad or so.. If you want any kind of proof, just ask, I'll upload everything I can to make it clear
Short version: Ramboll is the provider of the survey systems at my university. The survey is for my assignment and my assignment only!

Just to clear things out :
I'm a student at the university of southern denmark. I have a course called something like 'Statistic analysis of marketdata'. It's a course where we have to show we have learned how to make a survey (collect data) and use relevant statistic theories (factor analysis, cluster analysis etc.) which shows that I'm capable of analyzing the data.
The subject of smartphones is because I spend a lot of my spare time reading about the development in smartphones and I wanted to find out what the reasons why people choose fx a Samsung instead of an iPhone.
I could have done it through interviews, but the qualitative method is way to time.. ehm.. time taking (I think it's called). So I choose the quantitative. I made the survey I danish at first, but I Denmark we only have a population around 5million, so tonight I translated it, hoping I could get a more international analysis.
I hope you guys would like to help me and og there is any questions, feel free to write, you could have some thoughts I haven't thought of, that could be gold for me and my project

I went ahead and took it for you. The one thing I noticed was the question about "have not heard of it" "nuetral" "heard of it - like it" or something like that, I dont remember the exact wording.. I dont think "like it" is relative to those questions. I can know of a brand without liking it.
And to anybody skeptical the most personal question it asks for is "income" and has the option for "do not wish to answer". This is just a cell phone survey, he/they aren't asking anything crazy.

Get 10 posts. Gives you access to being able to post in the development/phone specific sub forums. It also gives you access to have signatures, post in the marketplace (where you sell phone and phone related things), post outside links, etc. Also, you may want to avoid this specific sub forum or just mainly DanWilson. He's dangerous and may get you banned/hack you. Also, people like it when you use the search feature at the top of the page instead of just posting in a sub forum. I'm not really against or for this. But many people get (VERY) angry. Sheesh. Have fun, and enjoy.
Yes I'm feeling helpful today OT.
How many post u need to allow new users to add links because i want to post a thread about fixing my phone and to explain carefully i need to add links? Im just asking.
10 posts should get you the ability for external links if i am correct.

Well, you'd wanna use some lube if it is your first time, because going bareback might hurt a little for both parties.
You'd also wanna ease it in a little before going full force.
I'd give you more advice but I see PDL here and he's probably more experienced, what with his marriage to Dan and all that.
Don't use this site. You're gonna brick your nice new phone, and by the time you get it to work again, a newer, better phone will have come out. Forget this site, go look at porn insread.

Yup. Hope you enjoyed your 24 hour silence in the OT.
Cos I'm away for a weekend now. I'll probably leave XDA nao (liek switch laptop offz) and be back at around 7PM GMT Monday.
Damn England and its something that I should blame for this!
I posted this in the JuiceDefender topic, but I wanted to post it as a separate topic as well so more people would see this. I know not everybody uses JuiceDefender, but hear me out on this, you all can and should play a role in this.
I just spent a good bit of (read: way too much) time writing up a report and sending in six separate logs pertaining to JuiceDefender's incompatibility with Revolution/Gingerbread. There was a previous report by some other guy on the LateDroid site, but it sucked, frankly. I didn't think any of the comments on it were that helpful either.
You can see / vote / comment on my new and better topic here: http://bit.ly/w42tou
I'd appreciate it if you guys visited the link and voted for/commented on the post. Even if you don't use JD, think of this as helping out those of us who do, and maybe you will start using it once it works! I think it'll help encourage the devs to actually do something, but I also don't want to feel like a moron for writing something that nobody reads. You don't have to actually read it, just voting on it is enough to save my ego. I even gave you guys a shout out at the end of it (and it really is way better than that other guy's).
Voting is probably sufficient enough, but it can't hurt to throw a comment on there to help raise the profile of the report if you want to. Additionally, if you're using the beta version of JD, open it up and send a log file to the devs when the problem occurs again.
I wasn't joking when I said I really love/depend on this app. Having a smartphone that can go without charging for 3 days is not something I want to give up.
EDIT: The Dev that's working on this mentioned this on the older report, along with several other things that never got answered by the original author or any of the individuals commenting. Anyone out there "enterprising" enough to take this on?

As of right now, we're #1 in the "Hot Ideas" category and #2 in "Bugs". "MMS not sending/receiving" is #1 with 133 votes, so we're almost there. Not bad considering our issue appears to affect only the Revo.
We're also #16 in "Top" which includes every thread in every category (including official announcements/changelogs/etc). Most of the ones above ours literally have hundreds of votes, so I'll take #16.
BUT, we need to keep squawking lest we get shoved to the backburner! Keep in mind that every day you don't vote, God kills a baby panda. Just sayin'.
135! We've officially taken first place, but only by 2 points, so don't stop voting!
Also an Admin has added a nifty little "Under Review" tag to the post--so they're "officially" looking into it.
A recent commenter said he's having the same problem on his Thunderbolt, so if you know someone with a Thunderbolt, get them voting too hehe.
Voted. Not a JD user anymore because of this. Thanks for the solid writeup

I just reinstalled JuiceDefender Beta, and am now using it but with the "Control Data" feature turned off. This seems to allow me to use the other features without disabling my 3G/4G. You might not be able to turn off the data, but you can still control the frequency of Autosync, and that makes a pretty big difference by itself.
I can't for the life of me figure out why that's not included within Android. Not everyone needs by-the-second updates...5-10m synching frequency is fine with me, and saves a metric crapton of battery life--even without being able to control data.

Bummer. I don't necessarily find the need to post all the time and spam the development forums. There have been rare times that I can actually provide valuable input and when those times do occur, I post. Also, since I am not a very involved developer, I am not creating anything new. I am using the forums for the great information that is out there to tweak the past 4 or 5 phones I have had. That being said, I haven't run into many problems when doing the hacking so I, again, haven't had the need to post that something didn't work for me. It normally works just fine since I read the directions and follow it closely.
Regardless, no hard feelings in the slightest. Thanks anyway.

Firstly let me start off by saying thank you for taking the time to open this thread. I'm an XDAer from Trinidad and Tobago. I've contributed to the ATRIX forums sometime back and I'm a regular at the marketplace also I occasionally help out where I can. So let's get down to business, currently a few of my colleagues are participating in something called the Secondary Schools' Short Film Festival 2012. They're in the process of voting for the people's choice award which is given to the short film which has the most votes by October 24, 2012. Now here I am asking you to kindly go to this link, scroll down a bit to where you see "number" stars(it's a click-able button) and click the button to vote. Please vote as this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much and have a good night.

I'm not going to start a bun-fight here, especially not with the OP. I have actually watched the film and it was good.
I still think that I was correct in my original posting though. I presume that there are prizes up for collection at the end of the SSSFF, beyond just getting one of the awards? I fail to see the difference between that and these;-
I Need Your Votes
[VOTE] Please help my wife win this contest
Help my friends win $10,000
If the generic rule within OT is that it is OK to ask people to vote and help you to win then I take my original comment back, but there seem to be distinct double-standards at play here.

only 1 of those three threads was formally closed. the other two were abandoned.
So, it's kind of shakey...i gather the sense that if I post a similar thread, it may get some attention and garner itself an OK lifespan, but someone with 60 posts may start a similar thread and it may not go over so well. I'm not sure why that is, but the mods make their decisions because they are trusted to do so.
is it hypocritical? Absolutely, but I don't argue it. it never hurts to try.

fOmey,
No matter what went down and no matter where your head is at at the moment, all I'll say is this: your work is awesome.
The bottom line is...what you have done for the gear...no one has done for the gear...and its not even close by a long shot. Which yeah, is really saying something because despite the occasional moron or 3, there are obviously some pretty damned amazing people here contributing to this community.
In my mind if this turns into nothing more than a donation thread for the remaining reslistically useful life span of the gear, be it 6 months or 66 months, then f0mey, you've earned it. Well anyway, here's mine:

I remember reading not too long ago that you were in between jobs, so let me suggest that one of the first things you do at that site is to make it easy to donate to you in support of your work.
I always thought it was pretty cool that this guy basically made a career of being unemployed:

(Well at least he started out that way)
Whether its through donations or something else or both, that would be great if in the end somehow you were able to make a decent living doing what you appear to really enjoy doing..that is, cranking out terrific roms for the gear.

F0mey stop having a tantrum, this site is the place to carry on with your Rom not a private site of your own, at least here there is no chance of dodgy software and no not referring to yours however its better to keep all roms on XDA because unscrupulous software writers could do so much damage with spyware and stealing passwords, if a writer did this here they are shutdown right away, on a private site they just keep pumping out dangerous software.
Not everyone is an expert and even myself when I first installed the Rom struggled with the instructions and setout, it can be something as simple as a misdirected direction in flashing for me now I have flashed 100s of times if not 1000s from my S1, S2, S3, S4 you need to take a leaf out of the other designers book on here and cut the sarcasm, if you dont want to respond let someone else do it for you, this site is about sharing ideas and developing software, and of course a bit of coin in the pocket for the developers who are any good.
Good luck with the future ps I have just come back from 3 weeks in Brisbane and intend to go back to WA next year
Sadly it has happened before, with capable devs leaving xda and setting up their own websites.
It just takes a couple of really nasty people to upset the peace of mind of a dev. In Pauly's case an extremely talented mind. They in no way represent the majority of people on here.
I have now bookmarked his new site and will continue to follow him. If I was Samsung I would hire him immediately (take notice Samsung).
For those who caused this upset, and unrepentantly insist that they were right - shame on you, you have spoilt things for many xda followers.
Thanks Pauly
Cheers
Baz

Tantrum ? Psh, Im not expecting everyone to be experts.. Although I do expect them to read, especially if I spoon feed the information to them on the original post.
Its easy to stand on the side lines and say "whats the big deal, who cares if people ask for help".. you try reading through all those pages every morning just because someone is to lazy to read the original post of a thread. 60% of the pages in that thread were about bull**** "bugs" which were reported over & over & over again.. Eg. "bluetooth tethering doesnt work".
Whats the point of a development thread if there is no development talk going on ? You dont need to read it, the next guy doesnt either.. although its my job to, I have to verify theirs no bugs on the rom, I have to keep track of the thread.
I refuse to do it anymore, if people cant follow some simple requests I made.. why should I care ? I'm sorry others have to suffer, There are some great supporters & users out there.
It is what it is I will continue to develop, I will continue to support. At least this way I can manage the content.
