I've had some good and bad experience with some roms, right now i have 2.3.6 ddq8 rom, it's good .. has some pros and cons ... has anyone tried both,, 7.2 rc3 cyanogen and 2.3.6 ??? which is better....??
need to work properly:
- battery
- speed
- camera
- gps
Last KTM Spain Stock rom is better than DQ8 and has lockscreen bugs fixed.
Battery is (from what i've tested) better
Speed ... better
GPS ... good, like DQ8
thnx will try that one...

U will not regret it !
report back in a while ...
Tried them both, still prefer cm7.
I don't care that much about battery life, and the customization is insane. Daily use Apocalypse rom, very stable if you don't overclock it.
You can't really compare them, as they are to different things
CM7:
-Speed
-Themes
-More features
Stock:
- IT JUST WORKS

The cm7 ROMs r not quite speedy now after the release of recent stock ROMs
Btw, i personally think that CM7 ROMs excel at sound quality becoz of the libs, the stock music quality sounds awful

Your screenshot shows that you charged phone multiple times and barely managed to get 16 hrs battery life. I have tried more than 30 ROM's and I have not seen a single Cyanogenmod beating Stock ROM's in battery life. I have tried various settings and various apps that could control CPU settings yet CM7 never managed to give me a better battery life.

Hi,
During the time I tried plenty of kernels and roms, I was very impressed by the galaxy EE kernel for the battery life. With normal usage (phone, sms, download, games) but without 3g, my battery lasted around 4 days.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1137595
About the rom, I did not test myself, but heared a lot of positive feedback for GingerReal2, which is very stable and smooth http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155623
If the rom is very responsive and does not have plenty of candy and shiny fireworks, this would mean you can tune your cpu with lower speed, which will lower the battery consumption (which is possible with galaxian kernel)
I hope it helped you ;-)
Have fun !
P.S. I am surprised that you have bad battery life with CM7, because it is a very good one for that point if I remember well... Did you try to tweak the system when you installed it ?
I have had cyanogenmod 7 and miui and try a lot of kernels!
Cm7 is very good also with stock kernel, but I think that Cyanofortomorrow v1.2 is very good! You can dwl it with stock kernel or with platypus kernel.
Miui is very nice but battery life is not the best! I have a mintberry rom with glitch kernel v13.
The best kernel in my opinion are glith kernel V13 HL (smartassv2, sleep governov powersave) and platipus neo 18 didle (deep idle). For less battery drain it's very important understand wich modem phone is better for your geographic area and operator.
Hello anyone pleas tell me witch ROM is good battry wise i am cruntly on 2.2.1 and it lasts 4 5 hrs on web browsing
Short answer, insanity froyo.
I remember finding the old Serendipity 6.4 Froyo ROM with JPE modem really good. Currently using SURFACE JPZ with SpeedMod kernel and that's been great too. Web browsing is best done with screen brightness as low as possible, or by using Cyanogen's browser with the colour inversion feature. Most web sites have a white background, which is the most battery intensive colour to display on the Galaxy's AMOLED screen
you can try XXJVT,this rom has stable, fast and long battery life.
I'm not suggesting ics because gingerbread's battery life is longer than ics
Better ROM, don't know, but the worse rom for battery is ics! Don't flash this if you want a good rom with good battery life

JS8 is the best firmware!
General Advice
the following advice is independent from ROM & Kernel:
If you do not use Wi-Fi, then shut down.
If you do not often surf with phone, so turn the traffic off or switch just from 2G to 3G.
If one does not use Bluetooth, then switch off.
If you can well see the display Content, then you should reduce the brightness levels.
You should not run unnecessary apps in the background. The Best Way to do is over a Task-Manager-App. There you shoud kill all running processes and then immediately press Standby - button.
Always unload the battery fully and charge the battery fully
#################################
JVT with JVU-modem and Talonkernel works fine for me. Charging bug sucks, but besides that it is the best combo regarding performance and battery.

I'd agree with above post. DarkyROM is very good for battery.
I think: Dark Knight 3 and ARIO ROM 2.2 ICS
Ario rom 2.2 ics
I am satisfied with Teamhacksung's ROM

I was on the AOKP port, with Semaphore kernel and it's governer set to savebattery. It's an excellent rom and I got two days. Two days itself isn't all that impressive, but it is considering I had everything installed, running and syncing. So that's the best I had so far.
Hi all,
I have been flashing each n every rom which is released here.. All r gud n unique.
But m looking for a rom which gives the best battery life.
I use Internet a lot... I mean a lot... Over 3g as well as wifi... I get some 10 calls a day... Online video and audio streaming of two hours. Auto sync is active always.. What's app, LinkedIn and Facebook... All together say two hours a day..
Suggest a rom which can handle all these usage.
Currently using cm10 dla..
I charge thrice a day.. Battery drains like butter..

I think cm7 and ARHD are the best for battery life but they are probably not enough for your use. If you prefer jelly bean I would suggest one of the cm10.1 since they are a little better than cm10 in terms of battery life

I found that if you enabled GPS, then GPS seems always working there even after you closed the map app and switch off the GPS signal, and drains a lot of juice of battery..
did you guys found similar problem?
i think Packman 20 will be good option
Try some battery saving measures in a CM10 build. Disabling Google Now and location reporting should increase battery by a lot.

Sense 4.1 ROMs are slow on the incredible s. Use ARHD, it's a great ROM which I have been using for the last few months. CM7 is also great, even though it's a little old, CM7 gives the best battery over anything.

Just look at the LARGE amount of thanks Mike has received from developping ARHD. There isnt a need for words to describe how great it is
But back for real, ARHD is fully stock with speed tweaks here and there. If you remember your experience (if u had one) on ICS with Sense 3.6, just look back at that, and then imagine it being about 3 or 4 times smoother
Sabsa Prime is a fantastic rom.

Thread Closed
As you can tell, everyone is going to have a different opinion on this, so we generally close these types of threads before the conversations devolve. Please try all the ROMs and choose the one you like best. I personally change between different ROMs at different times as no one ROM is "best" all the time since they all evolve over time with different features and their associated problems. Purchasing Titanium Backup along with doing regular nandroid backups has proved very beneficial to make the changeovers fairly painfree and ensure I don't lose anything.
Thank you,

Hi, I would like ask community for rom which is mainly fast and saves battery. Tried to look for something like that here at xda but almost every rom promises to be fast and have long batter life so its quite hard to choose something reliable. I dont want anything fancy, I just need long lasting phone with some performance. Thank you for you answers!
Try The last myth or Sgs2 JB v11.1
SGSII v11 is GREAT !
try StockLite ROM
Like the guys above me i would recommend:
theSGS II rom, it is fast with great battery life that will last at least all day.
The added bonus is you run android 4.2.2 (i know you dont want anything fancy but its still nice)
Stocklite, this rom also has great battery life and runs like a dream on our ace
This is (as the name suggests) a stock rom that runs 2.3.6 and looks almost identical to the stock.
The only thing i would stay away from is cyanogen roms, they seem to use a lot of battery very quickly.
Hope this helps

Hi SaM245!
The SGS II rom has Samsung Galaxy SII JB look but is based on android 2.3.6.
Be happy.
You can also try Maclaw's ICS ROM(RC3) which is super smooth and has good battery life. There's also a JB ROM which has just come out.

A clear difference is speed. No more lags in opening anything which is the major drawback of official jb.
How about battery performance. I now use dxamd1 with cocore 6.8. And I charge once a day in the nightly hours. And use my phone freqently the whole day

Battery is quite good for me. A good start considering the rom is not optimized yet.
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
Battery life is amazing, considering cm10.1 is still quite raw. I've just plugged my phone in after 2 days.. 15% battery left. Some whatsapp, some messaging, some browsing, some music... the usual stuff. Wifi on 100% of the time.
So is speed, smooth as butter. The only drawback I was able to find so far is benchmark results... ran antutu and scored 5030 points, while the better stock JB roms are near or at 7000 points. Mind you, if I hadn't run that benchmark, I wouldn't have noticed there was a performance deficiency.. no lags, no hiccups, nothing.
If you don't use video recording, and don't mind turning the volume down then up during a call to solve the low volume problem... then yes, go with CM10.1 as it is right now, it doesn't dissapoint. It can only get better!
So wich cm Rom version comes out best out of the box here. And can i flash it over all fw versions?

http://goo.im/devs/diegoch/janice/cm-10.1/nightly
Well, there are a lot of CM10.1 nightlies... Have a look in the archive, I've personally had excellent results with the 20130621 one. Don't flash the latest 20130627 since it's corrupted (it weights 94 MB and a full rom is about 165-170MB)
From what I've read so far, CM10.1 works just fine if flashed over XXLQE firmware, but could have problems if using another one as base. I used polish XXLQE as base and it worked perfectly, apart from the two or three bugs CM10.1 still has.
I think cm 10.1 and pac 23.0 works well with any other base too. I'm using indian ddulp8 and got no issue at all. But better install from fresh stock firmware to avoid any problems.
