Hi guys.... before posting, ive searched xda and found nothing confirmatory about the call recording option in Galaxy S i9000. So is it possible in this device to record calls ? most of the apps in play store dont work at all on galaxy s ...... is there any workaround ported or developed by any one ?
Yes it is possible. I created a working PoC which should be implemented in libalsa.
I suggested to Cyanogenmod that they shall implement my PoC. But due to their internal policy they won't.
I understand and respect that.

Thanks dmueller2.
Is your solution something a typical (rooted) user could implement themselves?
I had call recording working on Stock 2.3.3 (UGKG3) with Auto Call Recorder Pro 2.4.1, by Appstar Solutions.
Once I upgraded to 2.3.6 (XWJW1-->XWJW5-->XWJW7), the other party could not hear me and would hang up. I'm not sure if it is due to the upgrade, or the Semaphore kernels which are based on Samsung kernels.
There are some working solutions out there but who wants to go back to Froyo.

I was wondering if devs know if it is possible to implement call recording on our X8s. Is it hardware limited? I've been reading about this and it seems that almost no android phones can do this
Good question I'm exciting to the answer
Questions go to the Q&A section!

You can find many apps that can record your call conversation, just look at the market.

AllCallRecorder is one of them, and it worked like a charm when I use it . I don´t know if it still working on my current ROM, but as it is free, everybody should try it

Most of them, if any, don't work.

It doesn't work. It only records my voice and not the other party's.
Try 2-Way Call Recorder,
It's free and it record both sides during the call. It working fine on gingerDX

I've just tried it. It doesn't seem to be able to record without using the speakerphone
Hey Dexter,
thought you knew that [Q] threads are for Q&A forum
Thread moved
I kind of thought it would fit better in the dev forum as this is not something that can be done through apps.
I have already let stay in development forums 2 other [DISCUSSION] threads from you because i thought that they have inside somewhat of development but i cannot leave there any kind of thread only because they speak about dev, Q&A is the right place.
My orders as a moderator are to move every thread to Q&A that doesn' implement anything but development, such ROMS, Modules; scripts.

ok, gotcha.
I get a strange way to record phone conversations with the application vRecoder. I think that the loud sound of my voice dynamics falls into the microphone. Companion heard bad at writing, but audible. Better anything than nothing.

can you upload the application ??
Hi!
I've tried several programs and does not work, only my own voice recorded.
But! The original Sony Ericsson 2.1 ROM is fully able to pad sharp 2-Way recording, even with the headset as well.
The 2.2 ROM and the rest is not working
The solution I am also very interested because this function does not only want to stay at the 2.1 ROM.
Sorry for knowledge of English, but translation
I want to app for X8 to record calls in a clear voice

Just use market...
search call record..
and try it yourself..
U'll find which one better!
try an app called total recall
If you find an app that can record both sides please post here.
I've tried a few of them but only the one app from market, that said is made for xperia, worked. And only on stock ROM.

I am still looking for it but so far I did not find anything
i also tried many but none of them worked perfectly. all recorders failed to record. the listening speaker voice. just records my voice. in stock 2.1 i didnt had this problem.

search on apktop,i think i saw it there the other day
I believe it's a ROM issue.
or perhaps kernel.
It worked with stock ROM and stock kernel, but it didn't work with custom ROM and stock kernel.
but even with stock kernel and stock ROM only one app (among all apps I tested) managed to record both sides with no problem.
What I want to say is, if we want to have working call recording, some of our great devs should have interest to make it possible in kernel/ROM building.
But this is not something a lot people use and call recording is forbidden in some countries (as I understood), so there is not a big interest to get it fixed.
I personally would like to have that option but I don't think I would use it if I had it.
I want to develop an application for unknown number that are not in the contact list to welcome the caller
saying (Hello This is .....) for example, which is recorded message stored in SD. then the two persons can talk with each other.
This means before answering, a welcome message will be play-back and after that the microphone gain the control during the speaking. we can also use a music background between them.
My questions are
Is it possible to do such an application with Android 2,3?
if yes from where have I to start? I mean which c or jave file need to be changed.
PS. Currently I am using Samsung I9000 as an android device and I have downloaded the android sources to my ubuntu 11.0.
afaik, call recording doesn`t work on 2.3, only on 2.2
also, there is a section for app development, this one is for developing roms

I will move my question to Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps
Hello guys,
I know this question is pretty typical... but I'm very very very sick of this problem. All programs seem to work at the beginning, but then the other party on the phone can't hear my voice. I tried all guides out there, but they're either incompatible with my phone or get this problem to happen, with which the other party can't hear my voice when talking on the phone.
I have Gingerbread 2.3.3, XXJVK, and my phone is rooted. Please guide me to what I can do about it.
Thank you for any efforts.
Market apps are kind of iffy.
If I recall correctly call recording only worked properly in froyo based roms.

Thank you for your reply.
Does this mean that there's no hope for this to work? is there an updated rom version to which I can update, which supports call recording?
you can easily record call with MIUI rom, this is a built-in feature.
I've tried many roms (did not try MIUI) and none of the recorders worked for me, so I just gave up..
why dont you try MIUI? it works and its exactly what you want.
Is it stable and reliable? could you please guide me to the latest stable version of MIUI? I saw many versions there and I'm afraid I would use an old version.
Thanks.
I have installed MIUI v11 from here

Yes, function exist, but...
http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/i-cant-record-any-calls.15881/#post-114871
Thanks for the reply.
What's that mean? did I format my phone for nothing?!
hey TheXDestroyer, if this was urgent you could just pm me. anyways, i dont know y the guy in the link cant record calls. yes, in some countries this is illegal, in others it is legal. in order to record a call, u must conduct a call and activate the function in the call menu (dont really remember the exact name). it is really easy to find this option once youre making that call.
edit
never had any problems with this feature. worked like a charm.

Are you able to tell us what is the latest version of MIUI for I9000 (GB or otherwise) that you were able to successfully use Call Recording?
Thanks!
Try this program for my work in GINGERBREAD XXJW4 2.3.6
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ons.DigitalCallRecorder&feature=search_result
Boldbeast Android Call Recorder
Have you tried on I9000 and everything is ok?
But you should read the small letters on web site ( on google play there is no such warning ):
Boldbeast Android Call Recorder is full featured for free for 7 days. 7 days later it's limited to record only 30 seconds everytime. To remove this limit you need to purchase a Register Code to register your phone. Price: 9.99 USD
And for a list of compatible phones just says 2600 phone, list is nowhere.
Boldbeast is not working with my i9000 with CM 10.1
Hello could you recommend me a custom ROM that supports call recording feature, or the apps in the google market for recording.I'm with CM 10.1 and none of those applications work. Thank you

Not here. And using in case of some jerks.
Cyanogen deletes that feature from phones where feature is. Even though they say "All of our code is Open Source". They keep this one silent. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42867290#post42867290. - He says its there but i am not developer. Can't check. And says i am not giving it in same phrase so i don't think it is there.
There is Darkys 9.5 Extreme Edition which has working Call Recording. Still using it after Cyanogen nightly bugs was too much lately for me and of course this feature.
