Interested in whether anyone would like to see VillainROM come to the Note? We are a fairly well known development team, if you had/have an SGS2 or a HTC Hero then you will have definitely heard of us
For those of you that don't; VillainROM is a custom ROM which remains close to stock but heavily optimized for performance and stability. We make no changes to the aesthetics of the ROM as everyone is different and they should have free choice over how their device looks. With the recent release of the JellyBean source we are turning our attention to AOSP based ROMs and are commencing work on VillainMod. This will be like CM but with all of the options they used to include and more, we want you to have complete control over the look and feel of your device.
Please let me know below if anyone is interested, if not I'll stick to app development
Hell yeah! ;-)

I loved Villain Rom when I had HTC Hero back in the days. And loved it on SGS2 aswel. Bring it On I'd say
definately... i had your rom on s2...thanks in advanced:cyclops:
wow! exited to hear that!
i was came from HTC Hero and love your rom!
Hope we can use the JB asap!
I've always been wondering if/when VillainROM (actually its a MOD, isn't it) would come to the NOTE?
It did take us a long while to get AOSP ROMs, so I was expecting it for a long time.
Now we've got fairly-stable CM9/AOKP/Paranoid... so not sure how great it would be.
...scratch that, I though you meant ICS, Jelly Bean would be perfect!
Thanks for any effort, its pretty much "official" that the NOTE won't get 4.1 from Samsung, so you guys will definitely fill a gaping hole.
*Tips Hat*
Sure....welcome......

Requesting a Gingerbread VillainROM
Would the VillainROM development team consider making a Gingerbread ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000?
Never experienced any villain roms as this is my first Android, but completely welcome a new rom and know villain has some good development behind it. Bring it on!

Glad to see there's plenty of interest in us coming to the Note Unlikely we will do a stock based ROM until official JB is released as the dev forum is full of them and they're all more or less than same.
So I'll be focusing my efforts on VillainMod, our source built ROM, which I hope to have builds of in the next week or two.
Will you be supporting tablet ui as well as phone mode

Hello. That's our 17. month with our devices. I hear somewhere 18 months total for developing officaly. Do you think that's last rom for sgs? I guess that is. And no chance for ice cream by samsung. Because they don't want to work for a new touchwiz again for our old sgs. Just my idea. What do you think?
Read somewhere that samsung wanna bring ics to sgs too. Maybe its the end for gingerbread but not for the develop of sgs.

Cyanogen team will continue developing anyway, so i'm not worried we won't get ICS for our devices
Impossible to say at the moment. It's been confirmed for the SGS2, but not the SGS (yet... ).
Hopefully the waiting game will prove successful for us.

Really? Sounds great.

No,it's not. Samsung has very few good phones( 512mb ram,1gz minimum, single or dual core,3.7 inches or more),5 or 6, so it would be a good move to bring ics to those.
Jelly bean has been made official and I'm here wondering if there's any devs out there planning on porting to cappy... or is everyone working on S3 ROMS?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
I guess once it is on Nexus S - it will be ported by crafty ROM devs.
I hope so
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
No need to hope. This is xda. I have every confidence that it will be ported!
Also these amazing people on XDA are keeping my Cappy blazing fast and I will support them with at least a $10 donation. There work is allowing me to wait to upgrade for when the next nexus phone comes out.

I'd say don't upgrade until phone breaks. It will be just another Android, you can do the same things on Cappy today. I got S3 - I'm telling you.
Your right I know they will.. they already seem to be porting it to nexus S in sure they can port over to cappy
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
They are trying to port it to cappy now. I found a link to an irc channel that has a jelly bean test rom for the cappy. I couldn't figure out what was going on on the page I'm a real noob at this stuff. It was like a chat room. I was told it was under dev so I would have to wait :-( So its definitely being worked on. Hopefully soon I can feed my flash addiction

I'm sure somebody will make a port. That is one great thing about the Captivate is that it is pretty well supported. Helps that it is a galaxy s. I intend to use mine until it breaks or can't run the latest software.
Jelly bean
I will definitely wait eagerly for a CyanogenMod build of android 4.1.
The Samsung Captivate is now not only officially supported by AOKP, but the Captivate work in the AOKP effort is done by the creator of the ROM, roman, and not just some random volunteer developer.
Work on a Jelly Bean based AOKP will begin once the official Jelly Bean source is released.
I thought all the galaxy s work was maintained by sixstringsg and Stephen.k.spear. I could be wrong though.

I really miss my Captivate when I visit this section of the forum. It really was a burly piece of hardware and I now keep it around to flash with the newest ROMs to check them out. Can't wait to see what the Devs come up with in regards of JB.
I find it pretty remarkable that the devs here keep up the porting for a phone that's 2+ years old, considering all the new devices out today. But I'm fully convinced that it'll be ported.
I wish my cappy was still working (suffered from the Encryption Unsuccessful issue) I kinda miss using it sometimes when I see it sitting on my desk. If it was working I would love to test out some JB roms for it.
Can't wait! Getting ICS on my phone was such a big improvement in smoothness and speed and knowing JB is focused on just that makes me want it now!!
Looking forward to install JB on my phone once it is available.

Since Jelly Bean is a minor update of ICS, i think will be several roms for cappy.
AOSP officailll!
We’re releasing Android 4.1 in AOSP today.
The name of the tagged release is android-4.1.1_r1.
The name of the development branch is jb-dev.
We recommend that you create new clients, even if you’re working in the master branch. It’ll make your clients smaller and faster to sync.
Proprietary binaries are available for Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus. Nexus S and Xoom will follow.

Software wise, that's mostly true. Hardware wise, not so much. I wouldn't upgrade for the next version of android, but I do upgrade for better camera's, more application memory, faster processor, nfc, better display, etc.
Mkalter has build JB for Galaxy S. And our Cappy not too far to experience JB

MIUI is a lot like iOS, in so far as it doesn't have a app drawer, but it maintains all the functionality of a custom ROM, and it massively customisable to boot. If you prefer something that feels close to what you've come from, there's a decent custom build of the latest ICS version here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912064
Word of warning: whilst all the Jellybean ROMs that are available for our device are very smooth, they're all quite buggy. I wouldn't say they're quite up to daily driver standards yet.
pff iPhone users... haha okay, Sense 4 is the best way to go imo, so try Project X or ViperVIVO as soon as it comes out
So having come to the note from my inspire or desire HD whatever you prefer to call it, I still keep up with the forums as I still have the phone. I noticed on the DHD dev forum there is a rom called PACMan.. its a 4.1.2 based ROM but the beauty is its called PACMan because its Paranoid Aokp Cyanogen rolled into one. I flashed it on my inspire yesterday and let me tell you I was highly impressed... the best parts of all the leading ROMs rolled into one. My question is would this be something possible for our notes as well?

Try slimbean, its something simikar!
Pressing the thanks button requires just few seconds and a heart n mind that feels satisfied
Possible, sure....why not ?
Check this and this,(although I'm not sure if the former qualifies)
The only problem is finding the devs who have time to do this....
yeah cream & cookies another hybrid
Im not a big fan of sense although i love htc devices i was wondering is a aosp 4.2 rom or anything similar in the works? waiting till next paycheck to go buy a one and switch to sprint hoping i get to flash aokp awesome roms in the near future
Nothing as of yet. There are devs working on CM 10.1 but knowing one of them from past devices, I know for a fact that it will not be released until its a very stable daily driver. Once thats going, other AOSP ROMs will follow. Remember, AOKP and Paranoid need to be ported to pretty much any device that isnt a Nexus.
Thanks I'm looking forward to flashing that.
