[Q] Is the Samsung Focus S Unlockeable in the sense that I can use it with TMobile?

NOOB,
Sorry - u prob heard this before.
Is the Fucus S unlockable to any carrier? I would like to use it with TMobile?
Also, if it is (i wish it is , will it be able to enjoy the 3G/4G speeds of Tmobile network, or will I have to live with 2G only?

[Q]S4 Active on T-Mobile Network, need help getting Data.

Hey there, I just got an S4 Active hooked up with T-Mobile's $30 plan. There's really sparse information on the S4 Active, and even less for people who are using T-Mobile on the S4 Active.
My problem is I'm only getting EDGE. I've searched the forums and found a couple of people who say they plugged in their SIM and it worked flawlessly. Is there anything I need to do? Open up AWS? I've tried using default APN, calling T-Mobile and having them give me the information, and using APNs I've found online, but I still get EDGE.
It'd would be a shame to have such a nice phone and only be able to use EDGE.
Edit: I've also tried enabling AWS using this guide [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589], first it says "USSD Code running", then I get an error saying "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."

a lot of people are useless when it comes to answering your very question. the eponymous: how can i git tmobile 4g lte on at&t s4 active? simple really. in fact if it weren't for raydi07 talkin about the service menu i would've been stuck on edge and returned my s4 active. Raydi07 is better than geohot

the part where it says: Step 2. Dial “*#7284#” on your dialer. Use *#0808# instead
follow everything else by the book.
you'd think "durr this method only flashes hspa+ bands durr" no. I get 4G LTE on my at&t s4 active. sometimes it just says 4G tho when im out in the boonies like where the other useless people are

I got my 2263 set to lte/wcdma dunno about the other thing but I never been dropped to 2g or 3g always stayed on 4g with the occasional 4g lte! I don't want automatic cuz maybe it'll save some battery so it doesn't scan for signal all day. If rather 4g or not have any data at all

So after a while, are you still happy with your S4 active on TMO network? Is it solid 4G or shaky? Does it also support HSPA+ ?
Sorry too many question on my mind but I have to make up my mind on deciding between S4 active or Xperia Z. Thanks

Yes Once you Flash AWS Bands for T-Mobile your phone is full flashed T-Mobile Phone that works on full HSPA+ 3G and LTE as long as APN is right.
I am using AT&T S4 On T-Mobile from 2 months no problem

I've been having trouble accessing LTE on my GS4 Active. I only have the epc APN, what are the settings for the LTE APN that you've been using?

just remove apn name from epc and put following
fast.t-mobile.com
and leave rest same save it and you will get 4g LTE

Can i do the same to the S4 i9295 (international Version)

4G LTE or possibly HSPA+ will not work on your international version S4 Active I would recommend to go to AT&T Store and buy full paid or eBay or swappa.com have some AT&T S4 Active unlocked that will work on AT&T and T-Mobile LTE
Also i m not sure if you need s4 active then s4 because not that much of protraction and you are giving up on better screen and Camera MP
If it was up to me I would stay with regular s4 but that's just my own opinion

no usb storage
so im still new at doing things like this and i attempted to figure out how to do this but wasn't able to wich is no big deal but now when i conect my phone to my pc the storage doesn't show up not sure if this is what caused it or not but if anyone could help that would be great btw sorry if im posting this in the wrong place im also new to xda

SGS4 Active No HPFS
I have followed every step, but I still haven't seen the changes. I get no errors, the QPST programs says completed and my phone reboots. I've done this several times and still no change. Has anybody had luck doing this with an S4 Active(i537) The QCN I found just said s4, i337, is there one for the active?

First, please forgive me as I am a novice at best,
My wife bought 2 unlocked i537 for us for Christmas off of ebay from different sellers. We are currently with T-mobile and notice that the 4g seemed to drop in and out. Upon reading the "[GUIDE] Using I537 on T-Mobile and other AWS Networks", I successfully got one phone to work, however I have been trying for a week, almost 2 weeks to get the other one to work with no success. I've tried numerous drivers, pc, cable etc... I've compared the settings on the phones *#0808#, *#2264#, *#0011# *#*#4636#*#* and any of the others I've found. The ports show up in device manager without any issues.

SELinux status Permissive
My question(s) are:
1. Is there a way to get qpst to recognize the com port without coming back with "no phone"
2. Is there another tool or software I could use to do the AWS flash?
3. If none of the above, Would it be possible or even correct to copy something from the working phone to the non-working phone? of course without damaging the IMEI/ESN...
Instructions are helpful as I am new to this, but very interested in learning.

UPDATE!!!!!!!
I did a factory reset while plugged into the usb and qpst picked it up upon rebooting. I don't however find this as a solution, but Now I have the AWS enabled.

I have a similar problem. I just got my gs4 active , and while I get 4g service, most of the time I just don't get data at all. I already rooted and enabled hspa from a guide off "high on adroid" but the problem persists. I'm determined this is a at&t locking there bandwidth issue but I don't know what else to do in order to free my phone. Any advice would be appreciated. .

xperia Z1 model C9603 confirmed it work with T-Mobile USA.
Edge,3G, 4G or HSPA+, and 4G LTE all working on this phone.(note: 4G LTE is only works on select market in USA)
need to turn on internet setting manually for data coverage.

Is T-Mobile's service normally strong where you live? I live in the US and my C6903 XZ1 has been working with T-Mobile 4G & H+.

yes, i got great connection with my nexus 4 3G & H+.
i was thinking it might be my XZ1 got a defect. cause when i check my setting it said i was on UMTS but the "mobile network state" said Disconnected.
i can make phone call but just can not connect to the internet.

Try going to Settings > More... > Internet Settings and download T-Mobile's settings. I hope it works out for you. The phone is too expensive not to work!

Try to make a new APN on your Xperia Z device..
I inputed this APN on my Xperia Z1:
Name : T-Mobile LTE
APN: fast.tmobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,supl,admin,dun,mms

3g on. Verizon

Do I have to keep my connection on global if I get to an area that my LTE drops off to get 3g? I had it set to LTE but got the roaming so I put it on global got 3g then got LTE when I got service back. Is this the normal process? I just got nexus 6 and wasn't sure if this is normal. Running cm12

Set it to Global if your outside of US territory LTE (Recommended) if you're within the US. Always remember to enable Airplane mode or Reboot when making the changes as a precaution.

Global and LTE are exactly the same if you are using a Verizon sim card. Global just allows you to use a GSM sim (typically for overseas travel).

Ok so I noticed if it drops I don't get 3g so is their a way to get 3g. My situation is when I put my phone in my locker it loses 4g and would default to 3g now I just get a ! On the network signal. So did I lose ability to get on 3g. I think I read on here that can happen
Yes surely lost 3g cause if I switch to 3g it gives me the !. So how do I restore 3g

I had same thing. Turned on Allow Roaming Data, and it goes into 3g. I'm assuming that since I'm in my home area, this won't cause me incur roaming charges.

Anyone figure out a solution for this yet?

I'm not sure there's an issue to solve. Mine goes between lte and 3g with no issues.

Mine will get 3g just have roaming enabled. With the way big red is kinda makes me nervous. Do you need roaming enabled to get 3g?

My roaming is off and mine will go between 3G and LTE with no problems. It does that a couple times a day at my work.

I found that on stock ROM it switched 4g to 3g fine. On aosp Roms I need to have roaming data enabled to get 3g and it says I'm on network 0000000.

I remember santod040 fixing that issue on HTC one m8 or was it digitalhigh I don't remember.

Sorry, no I mean that is the correct description of what is happening. It is a rom issue. Stock works fine.

Yes am on vzw can get 3g without enabling roaming on stock rom, on custom roms at least the ones I've tried roaming needs to be enabled to have phone switch between 4g and 3g. N6 has only two variants us and the rest of the world. The us version has a cdma radio don't know about the other. Also on verizon there is no voice and data at the same time... yet may have it in the future.

My unlocked Nexus 6 is also defaulting to 3G unless I foce LTE in the testing menu.
Not sure what's up but I'm about to flash marshmallow today anyway.

Can I buy an unlock code for this version and then work on AT&T LTE?

You should not need to, as all Verizon phones are already unlocked. You just won't get lte on other networks

I realized that once I popped in the sims, but weird thing yesterday I had 4g connection and today I don't after a reboot.

I find it extroardinary you were able to even temporarily get a 4G signal.
That said, you could try changing your APN settings. Here is a link to an article explaining how.
