can anybody point me towards a guide giving me a step by step of how to change the colors in a services.jar to white
(or if you have some spare time to do it for me quick)
its going in a black theme so the normal stuff that you would turn white (date, status bar clock, carrier label)
for some reason with the new 2.2.1 system it doesn't want to use any other services.jar other than the one it came with so i am hoping theming the original will avoid a call freeze problem other .jars have been causing
i have it attached the file any help you guys can provide is amazing
color change jar
do you have android sdk installed on your p.c?
if you do and you want to learn how to use colorchange jar. pm me!
tell me exactly what you want changed to white. i believe alot of what your asking is in framework-res not service jar. you will need both!
My idea is to create a high contrast white theme, with pure white notification bar and pure white menu popup, and all pure black icons. (i got inspired by HerrKuk's screenshot)
The reason for this is that we're on an lcd device (and black doesn't get black).
When being on the amoled nexus one, there was a strong urge to get everything as black as possible, where as on the O2x, white would be the most battery friendly..
Stock android 2.2 is leaning towards that, but i just do not like the greyishness of stock.
Try SiMi clock with black text and white background and you'll get an idea of the final look that I'm after..
But, the framework needs black text on notification bar to get this theme on stock or paul's rom. I do not know how to do that.
I guess from vanilla rom it would be a walk in the park because it would only need the gray png's tweaked to white, but the handy power widget control for the notification area is not in vanilla android, and I cannot live without it.
Can anybody help me out by either porting power control to vanilla rom, or by changing the framework text on paul's rom to black?
That would be awesome

lol, 18 months ago we were working out how to change the text to white to use with black notification bars on stock Android...
It can be done, you need to make changes in framework-res.apk xml and services.jar code.
Know how to use apktool (here and here) and smali/baksmali (here)? That's where you need to start.
Once you've got that I can show you where... you'll need these skills if you want to do deep theming anyway.
Sounds great!

Cheers mate, I'll look into it and see if I can get my head around it..
I would like those skills, I just need the time to learn them..
Since I'm impatient I will do up an simple version based off the vanilla rom to start with, and then see if I can do the xml and jar edits for the black bar later
Hey all,
I am running CM7 on my Desire HD and I love them both. I have all the applications set to the dark theme with white text on background and I think things look great.
There some things I would love to change to make it perfect. First is replacing the orange glow when you overscroll with a white one. Secondly is replacing the bright green icons in the statusbar with white ones.
I would love to learn how to theme myself but there seems to be a lot of ways to go about it. Any advice on where to start bearing in mind that these are my goals?
If someone with a lot of experience could chuck this together quickly I would be forever grateful.
I know this is a noob request but we all start somewhere
Thanks for any tips
Hello guys, good night ... I'm here today just to make two questions that I have not found answer lol.
I use a ROM based on TouchWiz ... But I think the look very ugly, but I managed to change a lot of it just to change / edit. PNG ... I will send the photos after attached ... Is very similar to AOSP ROM.
But I have two questions that I think you will know answer, or if they could do it for me.
You can see the control on and off and on the top of the window below the notification bar? I want to change the color of it (preferably in black) and switch the control on and off to blue ... Shortly thereafter my ROM will be perfect and I will publish here ... And one more thing, look at the LockScreen. Want that the line is drawn to unlock the screen is thinner ... Thanks guys and XDA.
I know my way around rooting and I've customized a lot of devices over the years, but this is my first Samsung (S10). I know how to change to any number of other alternate dialer apps, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get rid of the rainbow background on incoming calls! Enlighten me!
