I am currently trying to get stock OS back on my Ace using Odin 4.03. I am (or Odin is) failing repeatedly to do this. After pressing Start I see this:
Download Start...

<7> StartThread Detected : 0
<8> StartThread Detected : 0
<1> setup connection...
<1> odin mode.. check plcatform verification.
<1> START!!!
<1> check download environment.
<1> e - big partition size!!
<0> Destroy instant..
<0> Killed timer
Following other posters' hints I have:
re-downloaded the .rar,
moved the tar.md5 file to a shorter address
changed USB leads/sockets
reformatted the microSD
maybe other things
and nothing has helped [he wept]. What do the lines
Code:
<1> check download environment.
<1> e - big partition size!! '
mean? That might narrow it down a bit.
Is Odin like so many Open projects - totally without any documentation or manuals?
Is there another route that I might usefully take? I don't want to trash it for sentimental and financial reasons.

b) Use a Windows XP PC
c) Try another USB port
d) Untick Protect OPS from Odin
e) Use an older version of Odin
f) Kies, LOL
Which never worked...

Your phone issent bricked,i had the same issue.
What worked for me is installing the Broodrom.
Here is the link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396837
Everything you need is posted by Broodplank in his first post.
Once you installed it, you can go back to any rom you would like, altough de Broodrom is a very good rom!!
If you have cwm installed, try to format your partitions first?
Hope this will help you in some way,
How can I flash BroodROM if I couldn't go to CWM at all, I don't see if there is odin flashable package...

Look better, BroodRom can be installed with Odin.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/broodrom/files/broodROM_RC5.rar/download
Follow the instructions in Cybertek's post.
I hope I was useful.

I was using ODIN to flash a recovery to it, which I've done before successfully. Screwed up this time though. ODIN cutely claimed success though:

I'll try 1.85, thanks.
I was flashing CWM recovery, you can see the .tar file at the bottom
What I said won't work 1.85 doesn't have that slot I thought u bricked your device
Try flashing full pckg stock rom again.

whenever you see a big partition size in the log that means either the ops file or the odin is not proper
Hello.I want to install CWM but after this Odin get stuck (>7 minutes) and i disconnect from the PC. After this, when i open this phone, show me a photo that means soft brick(i check some threads on this forum). I try to install aries with recovery and aries with stock ROM and Odin stay a lot of minutes and don't make anything.
When i install aries with stock rom(download from sam for romania carriers) show me this:

I am following the wiki instructions to flash an SGH-T679 back to stock firmware using Odin, using the files at the links provided:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Exhibit_4G
Prior to this, the only thing I did to the phone was to upgrade to AOSP 4.1.2 using stock recovery, which worked fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2081011
However Odin does not seem to be writing anything to either the system or preload partitions when I do this (and now the phone will no longer boot past the splash screen). I have tried both Odin 4.43 and 4.44.

I did notice that the key combination to enter the bootloader changed after I ran Odin: it went from Volume Up + Home + Power to just Volume Up + Power.
I have not attempted to repartition or format the internal memory at any point. I am wondering if perhaps the Ancora.ops in the post above does not match the partition table on my device? Or is there something else I should try?
Thanks in advance!
Solved: the Ancora.ops file in uvlg3.odin.zip on the Wiki page is missing the preload partition. I added "12,preload" to the bottom of the file (per arco's Ancora.ops file found by Google -- can't link to it because I'm new to the forum).

Look just a few lines below that on the page, where it says:
FILES NEEDED:
Download Odin (Google it) and the stock factory images: uvlg3.odin.zip
I found the file, but after making firmware I see the next: "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Plase select recovery mode in Kies & try again". And there's a mistake: big partition size!!
Where can I find 3-filed firmware for odin?
