Stuck in a bootloop Team Nyx RC5 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My brothers phone got into a bootloop for no reason, I can't acess the phone at all. Tried to wipe cache and dalvik via recovery but still no luck. I charged the phone so it wouldn't die, did a backup via recovery (I hope that is enough because I can't acess the phone to make a backup via titanium) what should I do now? I tried to re-install RC5 again without factory reset but I can't get past the ICS startup bootscreen. Suggestions?
Thanks.
EDIT: Can I be sure that I have backed up all his data and files if I did a backup via recovery? I don't want to do a data wipe and see all his stuff gone.
Also how will I recovery it later? Is it just like titanium backup?
Note: I did backup with cwm!

Bump I need help guys. Can I wipe data and later recovery it?

you can try to flash a kernel in CMW, to get it booting , your data should remain intact
sorry you should use .tar and use odin

You wont be able to backup with cwm I don't think unless you choose advanced restore and just restore apps otherwise it might restore the thing that gave you a bootloop

Oh ok stupid me. I flashed 1.2.6 semaphore kernel but it still gets stuck in the ICS startup bootlogo :crying: I just want to get into the phone and take backup and then I will factory reset and wipe everything

I did a backup via CWM, if I wipe data/cache, reinstall RC5 and then restore the backup will his apps+data be there?

[Q] Failed downgrading from ICS leak, no charging, bootloop after flashing GB PC Odin

Hi!
So i figured i wanted to get of the faulty ics leak in order to keep my phone safe, but it seems I was able to do the exact oppsite...
I will try to make a detailed overview of what I did, here we go.
I was using Stunner on CLP5. Followed this guide to do the downgrade:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr3DDEh8vyc&list=UUlVIlK8QHZ2PFkXF97bA0lg&index=5&feature=plcp
What i did:
Flashed the Abyss kernel - rebooted
Wiped with the new recovery
Flashed rocketrom
Got stuck on bootloop. (I should've probably done another wipe here, am i right? )
After flashing Rocketrom, I once again got a new recovery, I figured I was on a safe kernel and recovery now so instead of trying wiping or a different rom, I was stupid enough to do a restore of a backup of a stock rom with root I had from December when i bought the phone.
This made everything even worse, my battery drained and I was unable to charge my phone through USB or 220v. Luckily I got my friend to charge my battery (same phone)
Booting up my phone agian, I was no longer able to acess recovery, but I still had acess to Download mode.
I flashed a stock GB rom successfully through PC Odin, and yet AGIAN I was stuck at bootloop. The file I flashed was a single .tar file. I didn't select update bootloader, should i try this? maybe re-ptartitioning?
I still have acess to download mode.
Has anyone got a clue how to fix this mess?
Thanks for all replies!

Please, pit partitioning seems to get thrown out there like smarties but imo should only ever be used as a very last resort as a lot can go wrong.
Have you tried wiping cache and dalvik? Sorts out reboots 99 percent of the time.

[Q] why is cwm recovery not working?

I have installed cwm on my friends phone (galaxy mini) via odin. When i booted into recovery it said he couldn't mount /cache/recovery. So i installed root explorer on his phone and i saw there are no files in that folder! In my phone there is a file... so i was wondering if someone has installed cwm (i believe it was 5.2.7) and knows how to solve this. Maybe i could try using this file of someone else with same recovery.
Long story short: does anybody know a solution or does anybody wants to upload this file?
Sorry for bad english if i made any mistakes

Dont use CWM on stock if u dont want to flash rom

Well... first i had tried installed cwm using a normal .zip file. Same problem. Then was when i actually installed via odin. After that i gave up and asked for help here. So i think it isnt the fould of the recovery. So could anyone upload the file in the next location, just to try : /cache/recovery
So i can put the file inside this folder and maybe it will work again.

don't worry error in mounting cache is normal, you can use it safely for installing and wiping
However also in the my stock recovery give a error in the cache partition but to me give the error of unmounting, says unmount(/cache); attempt 1 unknow error=0 rc=0, and later i must and will inform about this error.

Got a boot loop by rom toobox

Hello i installed rom tool box pro and i saw some options to change the icons of wifi.I did a bakup too and installed the icons but unfortunately it was stored on internal memory. Then it asked reboot and when i rebooted got a boot loop.
How to fix this? Is there any way to get the backup file from my internal memory?
Thanks.
If you have access to recovery, use aroma file manager. You will have to place the aroma zip on sd or internal storage and flash via cwm. Then you will have a file manager to work with

Or download some of the Custom Roms here and follow the installation instructions. Same result but already on Custom with all the benefits.

hugemem libs are not required, so the problem has nothing to do with hugemem libs (you only won't be able to record 720p video), but the fact you are stuck on boot maybe connected with something else ... from what firmware you were flashing? can you describe me your whole procedure (or just try to simply flash CM several times until it will boot and then reboot and instal semaphore ...)

I was on cm 10.2 (5.12.) and on kernel 3.3.0. Then i wanted to test the 3.3.0s kernel. so i downloaded it, go to recovery and flashed itvia cwm (Kernel is on external SD). There are no problems with the "normal" kernal version. Only by flashing the "s" my phone stuck on boot. In addition, i clean dalvik and normal cache.
And ofcause, i want to flash hugemem libs if the "s" version will boot normaly.

Strange, maybe try to reflash from internal storage (u can use file manager in cwm, or mount the phone to pc over usb from recovery to upload the files) and make sure you have the right files (as flashing CM11 accidentally with recovery from semaphore 3.3.0 will not boot). I recommend to redownload carefully both files, place on internal and reflash ... should be fine then.

no ... leave everything default in recovery ... so maybe try flashing 3.3.0s via odin too??? there should be no problem switching between standard and "s" kernel ... make sure you have the same size and MD5 version as in the semaphore topic ...

N7000 - sticking during Odin flash - logo plus yellow exclamation triangle

Hi
Ancient history - I rooted my Galaxy Note a few weeks ago with a Philz kernel. I didn't really know what I was doing, but it seemed to work fine. This morning, my phone was shut down, and wouldn't start up, sticking on the Samsung screen. I read other threads here, and it seems like to fix this, I need to flash the same Philz kernel using Odin when in download mode, then start up in recovery mode, mount as USB and extract my files, then restart and reinstall files, and I should be back to more or less where I was last night. /Ancient history
I've installed Odin, started the device in download mode, found the correct .tar, connected the phone, and started the process in Odin.
When it got to restart, the phone is again flicking the logo screen on and off, now with a yellow triangle and an exclamation. Does this essentially mean I need a different kernel? I was hoping that reflashing it with the same Philz kernel would solve the problem, but it appears not .
I solved this bit
I also solved this bit. Please see the edited original post for the current problems.

if you already have flashed philz kernel, try to boot into recovery mode with volume up+power+home button. Yellow exclamation is nothing to worry about, it can be removed once you have phone booted up.

Yeah, I found that I can get into recovery mode, I mounted and backed up my USB, and then I did a factory reset. The phone now runs, and I'm finding myself tempted to put in a KitKat rom, because I'm a glutton for punishment.

if you made nandroid backup from philz kernel then flash philz kernel, reboot recovery and try to restore. If you didnt include preload in the backup then that could be a problem. You can do a clean flash for the stock rom and then advanced restore and restore data.

Thanks. But didn't work.
Guess I'll have to try flash via Odin PC. Any helpful thoughts, or directions?

If you tried what i mentioned and that didn't work then you can clean install stock rom and you can extract the backup on pc by using 7zip or compression tool and the reatore tbat using titanium backup pro. I haven't tried this ever but this ia what i was suggested by @nokiamodeln91
