So with the kernel released, anyone want to educate us how to flash a kernel? Id like to dig into this kernel, and if I can do anything with it, id like to know how to flash it to test...

it should be the same as on any other phone. boot into ClockWork Recovery and select "install .zip from sd card"(or you could specify in ROM Manager that you want to do that also.
No, its not the same as any other phone...you can't install a custom kernel on the Bionic because it can only run a signed boot image...ala the locked bootloader.
The release of the kernel source, while welcome, is not anything that end users can do anything with at all and is of limited use to developers as well, due to the fact that Moto doesn't release everything and custom kernels are not possible.

Well, you're wrong.
It the phone was unlocked, that is where you'd flash the kernel - through recovery.
well, the procedure of installing a kernal is the same as a ROM(meaning you don't have to go through BootLoader)... so as far as installing, the above is how you'd do it... but wether or not(not) your phone accepts it is a different story considering the current status of the Bionic.
Hmm, wonder if any one is willing to try... If u have then knowledge to put that in a flashsble zip, il try... what's the worst that could happen.... Have soft brick and rds back to life....???

Not to nickpick but said I was not 100% about about the lockedboot loader preventing flashing of kernels, followed by my incorrect statement

Jeez. The kernel source was barely released a day or two ago. Give the dev community a few days to sort out what they can do with it before getting all crazy about it. We already have ClockworkMod Recovery for the Bionic. Chances are, since they have the full source code, we'll have refined flashable kernels that are bootloader-compliant in the coming weeks.

I am hoping this is the case as well.
Not sure if the entire source was released or just what was contractually obligated to under the GPL.(which is likely the case since everything would give the dev's the key to the kingdom so to speak.)

Well...since we are being sticklers for the facts here...the easiest and most efficient way to load a custom kernel, if we could do so, would be fastboot.
They are typically released for most devices with unlocked bootloaders in update.zip format, but it's really device dependent and several forms are often available.

You would have to be in the bootloader to flash that. Tell me what the name of the file is and I will tell you how to flash it via fastboot.

There's this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2298489
I am looking forward to a touch recovery! Let's hope we see it soon...
I've avoided Twrp so far as everything I have read said it isn't stable on atrix HD(i could be wrong).
Though, I would love to try new recovery images...Not sure what the gain would be with an updated CWM, though to try a completely different one would be fun.
Touch isn't that important to me, but I would give it a whirl if the opportunity was there.

The latest can be downloaded from either link. It's the update from the 30th that, I believe, only fixed the font size issue.
How to Flash:
UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER REQUIRED
Code:
fastboot flash recovery cwm.img
Download:
CWM 6.0.3.2 Unofficial for Atrix HD - Mirror 1
CWM 6.0.3.2 Unofficial for Atrix HD - Mirror 2
Source:
Github
Thanks to:
Koush for CWM.
Hashcode and Dhacker for STS-Dev Team source.
Djrbliss for unlocking the bootloader & providing root in the first place.

I haven't looked to see if this has already been made for Atrix HD, but when the unlock happened I believe we had to use the XT925 version from epinter.

hey guys i am new to rooting, unlocking, and installing custom roms, i have one problem i am bootloader unlocked and rooted but when i go to install a custom recovery, it tells me in the command window that it was successful but when i go to enter it, all i see is the htc logo and it says entering recovery but after 10 seconds on the screen the phone shuts off and does it every time, does anyone think im doing something wrong. iu really am stuck on this one and i tried to install both types of recovery.. maybe the root didnt work?????
You don't need root (super user) to flash the recovery. Try again. Make sure htc drivers are installed and the phone is recognized by the computer. Also, you may have had a bad download of the recoveries. Try downloading again. I just used the files from the sticky Q&A thread and my recovery install was very quick and painless. Good luck.

Long hold power and volume down. It should eventually take you to bootloader where you can select boot to recovery and restore a backup. If you don't have one, do an adb sideload of a known working Rom .
