Ever since 4.2.2, my Tmobile G1's touch Screen gets messed up at random times.
What happens is the area around the app tray and the area around the notification bar becomes unresponsive, and touching these areas either do nothing or register as a touch some where towards the centre of the screen.
This problem goes away when I press End to sleep the phone and then press menu to wake it back up and then unlock.
Any ideas?
I've Tried 4.2.3.1 and the problem still exists
this has nothing to do with the rom this happened after i dropped my phone a couple of times later fixed itself wierd but has nothing to do with the rom
edit-unless u installed it wrong....
I have not dropped the phone ever, when I revert back to 4.2.1 the screen problem doesnt happen
I've installed 4.2.2 over 4.2.1 by turning on the phone with the home button pressed, then when the loader comes up, I select update from any zip and choose the new rom...
4.2.1 has the home screen icon disappearing problem
I have run into this in the browser on 4.2.3.1 as well. Though trackball & all the menu options still worked on the touch-screen with the actual browsing I couldn't touch. The problem has only appeared in the browser for me.

That doesnt always work.. i posted this exact question in the cyanogen mod thread twice within 2 days and received no answer...
I havent dropped my phone either, and this has only happened when i flashed cyanogen, and then a few themes.. now im back to regular and it happens to me in gmail, and in the browser, on the homescreen.. everywhere.. and it is random and it fixes when you sleep the phone.. crazy
Just flash 4.2.3.1 and see if you're having the same issue.

I just flashed the aosp rom that was released today on nov 2nd.. and I started having the same problem within 10 minutes after the flash.. I will try the new cyanogen rom, but I'm not sure if it will fix the issue.. will try it though
Mine has been doing it on on 4.2.3.1. It will start zooming in the browser like it is forgetting to release the bottom area of the screen from the last touch. Putting it to sleep and waking it back up fixes it. Phone is brand new as my last one went bad.
I have wiped the phone, wiped ext3, installed cyanogenmod 4.2.3.1 fresh
the problem still happens
4.2.1 doesnt have the problem
I've been trying various hero roms and a vanilla donut rom and they are also problem free
Some times the instant I put 4.2.3.1 on it starts happening, some times it happens after a few minutes or a few hours
BTW, Thankyou got moving this to Q&A, hopefully we'll get some solution
The cyanogenmod thread gets many many post and posts like these get drowned out quickly
After wiping the ext and doing factory resets it was still doing it.
I reloaded the htc image and then loaded 4.2.3.1 and it looks like it is fixed. I will update if it starts doing it again.

It worked for most of the day. Started acting up again though. I just put the screen to sleep and wake it back up to get it working again.
This is quite annoying. Tomorrow I will see if I can logcat it when it happens.
Looks like its happening on AOSP-1.6_r1.4 + ADP DRD20 aswell

Damn it ! The same thing happened 2 me.. i wiped x 3, did the htc image all over and then the latest cyanogen, and then the hard spl.. everything worked fine for about half the day then it screwed up later on. What apps do you have installed? Maybe we have one in common? I have sms backup, su file manager from "protocol X " advanced task manager with app auto end every 30 mins, and the overclock widget on my desktop with 128mhz while phone sleeps and 254 while awake, and droid swapper. Im not sure if they make a difference to the touchscreen, but i really cant seem to pinpoint the problem anyhere else at the moment
Hi Guys
I've a problem with my SGS.
When the phone has been out of use for a few hours, when i try to to push the "on/off" button or the menu button, the screen will not activate, it just stays black.
When i press vol up/down, it's making sounds - as it should. So the phone is on, but the screen will not turn on.
Is anybody familiar with that problem and a solution?
I'm using DarkyROM JVQ v. 10.2 (Resurrection Edt.) with Launcher Pro Plus v0.8.6
I have to pull out the battery and start up the phone every time, which is pretty annoying.
I hope someone is able to help me out.
Thanks in advance.

provide help... i need... thx mates
I can't help you to fix that other than advising to change ROM/kernel but what I can tell you is that you don't need to pull out the battery, you just have to long-press (approx 10 secs) the power button until the phone reboots.
I'm not sure this will help but I had the same problem and after flashing back and forth testing different kernels and roms I came to the conclusion that it had to be hardware related. I removed the Sd card and everything started working as normal.
Have same problem. I have stock XXJVT and root kernel. It happenes not so often (once per month), but it is really anoying. Anyone find a cause/solution?
Maybe you have K 9-Mail installed. I had the same problem and after I removed, everything was Ok. I have xxjvt and Speedmod Kernel K16-7.
If you don't have K9 and you have a lagfix activated maybe you didn't activated on all partitions. This I read in Speedmod topic.

Hi,
I have the same problem. I`ve recently updated my GT-I9000 with the official GIGERBREAD.XFJV7. I`m new to Android and this is so annoying Please help!

i think it's a hardware problem, the proximity sensor...
With XXJVT I had the same problem. It happened once in every two - three days. So went Back to 2.3.3.
I was thinking that it was because of some customization with XXJVT. But now I see that it happens in 2.3.5 firmwares.

Sounds like a SOD (sleep of death) problem. Your phone doesn't manage to get out of deep sleep for some reason. on Cm7 this was caused by BLN activated custom kernels, but I don't know if that's the case here.
Try searching for the sleep of death issue, maybe there is a solution somewhere on XDA?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
SOD it is.
Are you undervolting using setcpu or the like? I know I had massive issues like this at first when uv'ing - the frequency and volts were stable when the screen was on but after some time of deep sleep...nada.
If you are uv'ing then try playing with the volts some more (especially at 100mhz)

Samsung galaxy si9000 startup problem
Hi Guys
Looking for a bit of help if possible
I have a samsung galaxy si9000 and unfortunately the problem occurred over night. The phone was working fine the evening before but when I woke up it wouldn't turn on. I get lights on the soft keys at the bottom and occasionally hear the startup 'music' for samsung but the screen is just black. I cannot get onto the reboot screen and the 3 key combination (volume up/down (i tried both) + Home + Power) doesn't seem to put anything on the screen. The screen just stays black throughout. I really don't want to send it back to samsung as i know I will be charged an arm and a leg for this, especially when it wasn't really my fault, all I did was went to bed. Thanks and I look forward to any help

Remove Battery, Sim Card and Ext SD card, than press and hold power button for a min and than try to restart phone without ext SD card and sim card... see if anything changes If failed you should use Recovery tools , links on My Android Collections, below to check, what state the phone is in.
I also have this problem...
Searching/reading similar posts I have the feeling there are slightly different issues.
In my case, the screen doesn't light up (also no lights on the soft keys) but the phone works! I called it and it rings (but can't answer w/o screen, maybe I can try with some auto-answer), and I can also hear the sounds when modifying volume.
It doesn't wake up by plugging the power source (and nor by calling it, as written above). I have also tried "Wake All" app, and it doesn't change anything.
I am on stock 2.3.6 XXJW4 with Semaphore kernel 2.7.4, but no tweaks like oc,ov...
Could "normal" software could have such an effect?? Or it's a driver issue? Or (worse) hardware??
I think it's not hardware, because it works after reboot (pressing 10s power button, no baterry removal).
Thanks for any hint.

Hi, I have the same problem as well as the others. I tried your method of restarting the phone without anything and holding it down for a good minute. Nothing happens. The LED lights go on, I feel vibrations when I turn off and on the phone. I have not dropped it either. Do you know of any solution that could help me?
Much appreciated!!
Also, if you direct me to your Android Recovery Tools which one do I pick under that category and what do I do?
Thanks so much!!!
Users who use the sema-kernel ,have you activated "deep idle" ???
Has someone tested with nornal "stock" without any custom kernel, i mean all stock if the prob appears ...
What is about the hints of xsenman - can anyone confirm that the "SOD" is gone ???

First try connecting Phone to PC, check IF USB connection is possible, you will hear your PC sound when and IF your PC has debugging ON and can get into USB mass storage mode
IF it connects , you can use a managing tool, like
My Phone Explorer V 1.8.4 download client from Google Play Store works with USB cable to manage phone from PC
Moborobo
Mobogenie
For Chinese Clones
Mobizen USE & Manage Phone from PC
Second you can try a Android reboot tool ( from the recovery tools) in My Android collections, to check if your display is not the issue here.
Check this out!You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

I
Okay, since I've got the phone, it's been working without a problem.
Until yesterday...........
First off, I tried making a picture of a 'small' spider I saw in my living room:
I wanted to try night scene mode, but for some reason I couldn't change the scenes, the 3 dots to select a specific scene was grayed out for some reason.
First I thought that I might have disabled an ap or something that prevented me from using manual mode, so I enabled some things that I previously disabled . it didn't work.
So the next thing i did was clear the data from the camera ap and extensions. That didn't work either. (After each step I restarted my phone, just to make sure that the changes were applied)
I tried using background de-focus, just to see what it would do, after making a picture though the camera kept showing the saving animation and it never stopped, pictures I made after that weren't saved at all...
A few minutes later I could suddenly access manual mode and all the scenes again, taking (or saving) pictures was still laggy/not working tho.
I ignored the issue....
I also use the phone as my alarm, to wake up early from work....
But guess WHAT! This morning my alarm didn't went off and I overslept and my battery suddenly had 50% remaining, when I went to bed 6h earlier, it was on 93%. My clock ap crashed and that's the reason why my alarm didn't went off.
I rebooted the phone and tried accessing my alarms again, but I couldn't get to my alarms, since my clock ap kept crashing....
I had no time to look at the issue, since I barely had time to prepare for work, normally I drove to work with some music from my phone, but even Walkman refused to play anything........
I decided to do a factory reset, since I wouldn't lose a lot of stuff, but used ultra stamina mode to preserve some of the battery while I was at work, since my battery was still depleting really fast! When I switched back from Ultra Stamina to normal mode, the issue seemed to be fixed, so i did no factory reset in the end.
This issue is really weird, but the weirder thing is that THE SAME EXACT THING! Happened on my Xperia Z after a year or something (Only on a stock Rom though)
Is there anyone that even read my entire story (that i just typed) And is there anyone that had the same issue as me? Because it's really annoying me!!
Here are some screenshots:
Some help would be very appreciated!

3 or 4 days ago I had similar issue with my z3c, same with my sg2 year ago. with sg2 problem was with broken audio file (.mp3) on my card that makes device to constantly scan my sd card and not to sleep so that time I checked all my music with audiotester app, found some broken ones and repair them with MP3diags. Issue was solved and never happened again. hope that will help

So I rebooted the phone and suddenly it started acting up again. I did what you advised and it did seem to get rid of the problem. :good:
Now I need to wait for @damned91 to link the programs and see if it will help.
MP3 diags
Audiotester is standalone exe file program, just open it and drag&drop music folders there. won`t take much time
First of all use Audiotester because it works MUCH faster, then MP3 diags to repair.

Many of these files I've had since 2006 if not earlier.

I own a P880 device with cm-11-20150824-NIGHTLY installed for about month, so far it worked fine.
Followed by low battery the device was automatically turned off. After charging the device for a while I restarted it.
Now the device is unable to connect to the mobile network. The attached screenshot shows what I see whether the SIM card is inserted or not.
I've already tried the following, but the issue remains:
Turning airplane mode on/off, with or without rebooting between the turn off and on
Setting a 2G network
Choosing the network manually
Wiping the cache partition
Factory reset (wipe /data)
Restored an older CM11 backup that I was running with no problems for a few months.
More info:
The SIM card works fine in a different device.
The external SD card works fine (I'm mentioning this since the SIM card and external SD are on the same module).
There's no "No SIM Card" indication if the SIM card is not inserted.
Any idea what may cause this issue? does this seem like a software or hardware issue?

Yes, the battery (the original one) is fully charged. I also tried my backup battery which is of the same model as the original one.
Just reboot a couple of times most of the time it fixes it self

I have similar problem. It was giving me message on V10h firmware "Reorganization of internal processes" when I try to call someone or someone is trying to call me. I heard that upgrade to V20C official over LG sofware will fix that, and I upgrade it. And now after few hours of use I restart device and now he can't find service. When I try to call or do anything he give me that message "Reorganization of internal processes". Anyone know how to fix that what should I do, do I need to root and disable that dormancy or what can I fix it somehow when he is on stock, please help.
Phone is acting strange with service I mean all day he is working okay I even restart him 10 time it was okay, and now when battery was low (37%) and I restart him he won't find service I tried to charge him he is now 70% but still nothing no service.
EDIT:
When I restart phone when it is under 57% he won't find service at all, when it is above 57% it finds network after half minute-minute, and when it is on 80, 90 or 100% he finds network instantly.

I got the same issue and I tried several things, like putting my p880 in the refrigerator, but sadly without a solution. I think it's a hardware issue because my phone has never been rooted, and the issue also appeared in the official version. I also got the message "Reorganization of internal processes" when I tried to dial someone. The strange thing that happened to me, is that after a month or so my phone was also unable to connect to wifi networks, so my phone became useless and I was forced to buy a new phone... Did you also read the thread mentioned in my previous reply?

My phone was also never rooted, I also noticed that phone camera won't focus when I record video but when I take pictures it's focusing, strange. I think this phone sucks so much that is forgotten by LG, when I asked them for P880 they are like "go to service we don't know what that issue is" lol wtf ? I gave up, phone is broken I think something is wrong with motherboard. Hmmm maybe I don't remember anymore really.

I didn't notice that the camera wouldn't focus. I just tried to turn my p880 on, but even that doesn't work so I can't try lol. I think it's one of the worst phones lg ever made, just because of the software. Maybe there's something wrong with the motherboard, we'll never know .
Your tel. lost imei, check baseband version - missed too. Problem with cp software. If you have prog-box with lg-support, you will try to fix this, if - not, go to lg service...
Sorry for my bad english...
Hy guys, i want to ask. But first I want to let you know that this is not my phone, I use this phone only temporarily, but I am here and asking because there is something that makes me (sometimes) feel very very upset and frustrated.
This is my brother's phone, and he also asked me to help him in fixing the problem I was about to ask...
The problem is: Automatic freezes and reboots
That simple isn't it? But the impact is big, during that phase I can only use this phone for only a few minutes because my phone keeps freezes and auto reboots, basically during that phase, I can't do anything, all I can do is wait until it returns to normal or turn off my phone for a few minutes which is obviously quite long, more than 10 minutes going like that (freezes and auto reboots). Version number 52.1.A xxxxx (I forgot, there are clearly 3 numbers at the end), I tried to downgrade to version number 52.1.A.3.92 but it didn't change anything.

oh yeah, the trigger is a change in everything related to connectivity (WiFi, bluetooth, gps, sim card, etc), even when activating auto-rotate. Hard reset, flashing, downgrade, reset connectivity, nothing helps. Can anyone provide a solution? can downgrading the android version or using a custom rom help? is this just a software bug or a hardware problem?
thank you

I'm also having the same problem. Is there any solution?
I have same problem
My xz3 is so01l
I guess ta broken
Who can help fix?
hey i have had this problem for months now. Recently I flashed to a custom version (originally on SOV39) and i rooted my device and the problem still persisted. However, I found a temporary fix without messing with the hardware.
By disabling the sensors and then rebooting. It stopped randomly restarting and I can even use the device with airplane mode turned off while having all the internet functions working.
You can find it on Developer Settings - Quick Settings Developer Tiles - Sensors Off. From there you can just toggle it off on the Quickbar menu and reboot the device. Hopefully it works for you too!
I have same reboot problem, only restarts after a min in normal mode. Works fine in flight and safe mode
I took a notice it can be the cell radio as it is off in plane mode.
I find side sense and one hand mode. Is it the things to turn off? I have the same problem, works fine in flight or safe mode. Some wrote it could be the cell radio.
I have checked for the updated version of Android System Webview as another wrote in another thread it could be that by going to Apps and Storage - Play Store. But it is not on my phone so that can't be the problem for me. I have turned off 2 sensors, side and one hand mode but it restarts after a halv min in normal mode.

I tried the same solution (update system webview) and didn´t work for me, I´m currently performing a software repair to see if it helps, the thing is that my phone doesn´t reboot as often but still it´s upseting me.
I was able to partially solve my problem with my phone, I took out the black antenna frame and very carefully placed transparent scotch tape (because it´s thinner than medical tape) in all the contacts that are marked in red in the atached picture but now I´m thinking that I shouls have placed tape also on the places marked with green.
So what change I experienced on my phone with this method?
well the phone now has Network and wifi signal all the time and very ocassionaly it does lose the network and wifi signal for a second but when this happen the phone does not say that there is no sim card and does not freeze and restart, it just recovers signal by itself and I can continue using the phone.
