[Q] How to set default language when building a custom rom? - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hi All!
I have a nice custom rom for Galaxy Mini. Not great or more powerfull from other custom rom. But it's fit for daily uses, just have a little improvement from stock rom, such as: support overclock, extend memori internal (a2sd) and have some themes (install via cwm).
Meanwhile, the custom rom is only used in the region Asia, especially ID (9819 downloads since 21th May 12).
Now, I want to share this custom rom BUT the default language after install the custom rom is ID - Indonesian Language. Maybe, someone can tell me, how to set the language to EN - English Language as default?
The custom rom information:
- Old
- Final Updated

open build.prop and search for this 2 lines :
ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=US
then change them as u like

1. adding them in build.prop , the result: at the 1st time the language is in EN lang, but after few second later (after system finish scanning sdcard...), the language automatic changes to ID lang.
2. with original build.prop , then create default.prop like u said in the folder system, the result is same.

Hi, you can set the default language in the file system\csc\customer.xml, you can find the following section:
Code:
<Phone>
[B]<DefLanguage>italian</DefLanguage>[/B]
[B]<DefLanguageNoSIM>italian</DefLanguageNoSIM>[/B]
<DateTimeFormat>
<DateFormat>ddmmyyyy</DateFormat>
<TimeFormat>24h</TimeFormat>
</DateTimeFormat>
</Phone>
This is part of CSC, you can also set the default settings for your carrier or for more carrier of your region
This is working for me in stock 2.3.6 KTN, european rom with Spanish as default.
I changed the csc with the Italian one from 2.3.4 ITV and it's working good
Hope this help

A little question.....you wrote your rom support overclock......you've got yourself or are you using a kernel from some other custom rom ?
In the first case, if you can, could you give me, please, some indication/reference about how to modify the kernel to obtain oc ?
Thanks in advance

That's for stock roms. You need just build.prop changes. Follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28837968

Hi,
I have a Bell phone as well, its unlocked to Fido now.
But yes Azy did fix it for me.
But I think you need to do what I did 1st, Some mods on At&t do not work with Bell, Since Bell's SF has not been released, " well from my understanding ".
You need to do the following.
1 - Flash your phone to OLYEM_U4 1.4.2 Telstra.
2 - Root , use GingerBreak, " OneClick did not work for me "
3 -Deodex , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047277
4 - then apply the framework.jar with the right permissions. (rw-r-r).

Try this one download and rename it to DroidSansFallback.ttf (name should be exact like this, no errors) and then copy to system/fonts/ and replace the original one (make a backup of original first) ...
http://www.4shared.com/file/4Ci2kTMm/BArabics.html
Alternative Method:
Or, if you are comfortable with fontchanger app from market got to advance tab and map the DroidSansFallback to this font.
---------- Post added at 11:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:13 AM ----------
Guyz.. If above method don't work. Try this:
Make a nandroid backup of your rom.
Download these and extract. http://www.android-devs.com/downloads/ArabicDroidSansFonts.zip
Install Font Changer on your phone.
Copy these fonts to .fontchanger folder on your sd-card (you can copy wherever you want but for easiness)
Run fontchanger app
Go to advance tab
Map DroidSans.ttf to DroidSans.ttf (from the download)
and similarly, map (or set) other fonts to their respective name.
DroidSansBold.ttf >> DroidSansBold.ttf (from sd-card/download)
DroidSansFallback.ttf >> DroidSansFallback.ttf (from download)
Reboot your device after setting all fonts to your custom choice...
YOu should now be able top see arabic fonts.
Press THANKS button to make my (time) investment worth...

Adding a new language to a ROM is pretty difficult, but if the UAE ROM has Arabic ( it should ), then you should just be able to copy the strings of each app, which is fairly easy. Much easier than translating them string by string that it is

Yes.. if you haven't then please do it or if you prefer not to root to save your Warranty then its your choice.. but there is a lot you can do if you are rooted but it costs you to void your warranty
And yes, Rooting in Jellybean is a very simple process... and if you want to unroot then just simply backup your apps/data and do a Factory Reset to un-root your device

ROOT Succsed , where i can find "fonts folder, framework-res.apk and your SystemUI.apk"?
@iiD4x Use any app like Root Browser Lite (search in Google Play) then go to System folder... There you will see Fonts folder.... Tap and hold and you will get the options to copy it.. do it!
Then swipe right to select your destination..... Paste it there...
Then go to framework folder and scroll down till you get framework-res.apk - copy it... Paste it.... Go back and then go to app folder... Scroll down till you get SystemUI.apk - copy it too... Paste it..
Paste them to anywhere you like and send them to me by uploading to anywhere you like.... And yes please do it on a computer or WiFi as those files in total will weigh about 20 MB
Oh yes, please note that I can't do this now as I have exams after 4 days... I will do it and either send you the download links or directly implement it on my ROM and you will get them when you will use my ROM :angel:

Do any of you guys know how can I change the language on this menu? my phone is on English, my rom is based on Italy stock based rom rXtreme JB4.3 by @r_i_x and oh the other menus is on english like cheking the IMEI or other system menus like LCD check WLAN check this photo right here is the Menu used by my Telco provider to check balance or promos the weird part is it should be on English because I'm from Philippines and because I'm not Chinese and the phone is made in Taiwan. Rather flash some of the latest modems (like XXUEMK1 or sth similar).
Well... look at my screenshot. This message appears always after hanging up a call.
And I flashed a new ROM (current one is cyanogenmod) and also a new modem (current one is I9305XXBMD5 and I also had XXUEMK1 previously).
Curious uh?

You'd have to change that in your firmware. img files, and trust me its a hell of a nightmare finding a few pieces fo code in the partitions
and note if you do change the language it may also brick the phone or disable dvice locale specific features
