Hi,
I have a new issue with the Galaxy Note, not sure what is going on. I can't send any attachments other than pictures from the gallery to contacts.
I'm using gmail. I can select attachments (via gmail or via a file explorer), but when I send the email, the recipient gets it without the attachment. So if I select a picture file to send from "root explorer", for example, and send the email, the recipient doesn't get the attachment. If I go into the gallery, select this very same picture and share it via gmail, this time, the recipient receives the picture.
What is going on here? Are those limitations coming from google? I really want to be able to send pdf files from my phone easily and this is just outright annoying !

I realize I'll probably get yelled at because the answer is probably somewhere painfully obvious, although I've searched and haven't found anything... How exactly do you save/downloads pictures from the browser or email, etc to your phone? I tried to do a long press and wait for the option to come up, but just isn't happening for me.
Please be nice, it's been a long day... :-/ lol
I struggled with this myself...
for the browser it is long press/hold and an option will come up, but if your at the mobile version of the website you wont be able to (except for some sites) if you switch to desktop view (full html) you will get the long press/hold options.
Email (gmail client) I have not been able to figure it out not sure if there is a way to, except for clicking the attachment and let it open on your phone then save as within the program that opened the attachment or picture, or open gmail in the browser
hope this helps a little, If someone else knows a way please shed some light
I'm trying out 2.2 and have the default email client (not Gmail) set up to sync with an exchange server. I can't open jpg files sent as attachments. I can open other formats (pdf, doc, etc).
I assume this is because the email client doesn't think there's an app set to default for jpg files, but Gallery and Astro both have viewers and open just fine when I click on a jpg file already on my device.
Does anyone know where/how I set the default jpg viewer in such a way that the email client recognizes it?
Thanks!

black moon doesn't seem to work with the default email app (not gmail). It's probably the apps problem. I don't see any way to preview on attachment. As I posted earlier,I only have this problem with jpegs. I can open other files attachments. The open/preview button just isn't there on the jpeg attachments. But thanks for the suggestions!
I was able to open email, pull down notification bar, tap down arrow of attachments, option to save or open attachment.
Cannot see any email attachments when receiving photos etc...I see the paper clip icon but no where to view and no option to download...any ideas?
Just tap the paper clip for it to download
Tried, just takes me to mail subject page..
I can
I just opened and excel Spreadsheet no problem. It works like previous WINMO phones- tap the attachment to download and them tap to view.
What format is the pic in? Are u sure it's a picture and not a video?
I copied a picture and pasted it into HTML format email.
Sent it to GMAIL and to my EXCHANGE account.
GMAIL won't download the full picture but does give reference where it came from.
EXCHANGE downloaded the picture perfectly fine. Along with the referencing link from the properties of the picture.
I have Gmail account only, I can see attachment icon in inbox list, but when I click attachment it opens message..is it because of Gmail?
I copy and pasted a photo into a new Gmail message, and sent it back to me and it displayed on my phone just fine.
Same when I sent an e-mail from Gmail to my Hotmail account. Displayed on the phone just fine.
just tried myself, You are correct it does work, the image in question was sent from someone with an Iphone..maybe it attaches images different way?

Well I just sent a photo with my iPod Touch to my Gmail account, checked it on my phone, and it appears as an attachment right under the "To: My Name" here. I just tap it, it downloads, and I can view it.
Thanks anyway.
iPhone pictures not getting downloaded
You are right. I was thinking about the same thing.
I was sent a few emails with pictures of their kid from an iPhone. I did get the email and it does show that there are 2 attachments. But when I tap on the attachments, the link just disappears and the email content is blank. Where as the same email, when I check in my Gmail account, I see the pictures in the body of the mail.
I tested the attachments issue by sending myself a jpeg file, and it downloaded just fine. So, I am not getting the pictures sent via iPhone (to my gmail account).
Can anyone check this?
when pics are to small it happens.. my friend sent me small resolution pics and i couldn't see them email shows the attachments but when click nothing happens.. i tried big pics and works perfectly
Been reports the gmail app has attachment download issues. I tested it again and no go on the download this time. Forwarded the same email to my exhange and it worked fine. Wait for gmail update.

I was trying to send an email last night with an attached screen capture that I did on the NC but for some reason it doesn't work. When I add the attachment, it shows up in the gmail interface on the NC, and it sends, but when it arrives in the inbox, no attachment.
Anyone else have this issue. I tried to search but not results.
Just tested and it works fine on my NC (1.0.1 autonooter 12.18)
I have the same issue

It appears the issue is only with astro. Doing it from the gallery worked just fine
You can attach any file to an outgoing gmail message from Root Explorer. There's a market app called attach email too.
work around
I'm having the same issue attaching a screenshot. If I go through the Gmail app and attach the screenshot, the email is received, but no attachment. If I go through ES File Explore, navigate to the screenshot, long hold, choose share, gmail, it opens up Gmail app with attachment showing, but I get the same results. The email is sent, but no attachment.
This is what I noticed though:
Original screenshot is located here: /media/Screenshots/
If I copy/move it to: /sdcard/media/Screenshots/, I can attach/send/receive the screenshot in both ways that I mentioned above.
It's like the Gmail app can't get into the internal memory or something.
FYI - I created the folder Screenshots on /sdcard/media/
I have three gmail accounts. One default (my main one, that I sync addresses, contacts and calendars) and two others that I only sync the email sections. Problem is that I cannot send attachments from my main gmail account. I compose the email and the attachment, click send, it says message sent - but the message never arrives, and doesn't show up in my sent folder either (either the imap one or the regular one on my computer). not only that, but I find that 9 out of 10 times, if I am replying to an email in my main gmail account and click send, I get the little red "sending", and that's it - it freezes. It doesn't send, I cannot access the email again on my phone, and the ONLY thing I can do is delete it. There is no record of it being composed, no drafts, nothing - it just never existed. I have also noticed that if (when sending out test messages), if I send myself an email to my default gmail account FROM my default gmail account, it never shows up, never gets sent. So there are definitely some issues. Anyone got any ideas? It just really bugs me that if I want to send an attachment using gmail, I cannot use my main gmail account or else it just vanishes.
I am using Gingerbread, Modversion aospCMod-20110322, Android Version 2.3.3 htc Hero.
Remove any stuck outbox emails if you have any and then clear data on the gmail application and then wait for it to sync. That's what fixed similar situations for me.

Hi!
I have the N7000XXLRK firmware of the 4.0.4 on my note. And the stock email client behavior has one issue: when i delete for example 2 emails, received today - it downloads another 2 emails to have 25 emails in the inbox, but it marks that old emails unread!
Does anyone know now how to fix that?
Thanks for help in advance.
I use k9 mail. much better
If you mean it downloads the same two emails then make sure your settings have leave copy on server ticked.

You may try installing the aosp version of email client. It is yellow rather than red. Find yellow mail apk and related exchange and put inside your system app folder.
