How do you root if you are on 5.7.906? - Motorola Droid 3

I got my phone replaced over warranty the other day, and whenever i try to use the one-click root i get an error. I'm guessing this is because the phone came with 5.7.906 on it. Is there a way to root it?

You may have to dig through forums and news articles to find it, but Motofail does the trick. I found it a few weeks ago through a news link discussing a XYZ tool for rooting Motorola tablets.

my friend took ota update this week now we have trouble

i rooted my friends droid last week and all was good
now he says he took an update now all his roots apps dont work and when i try to run universal androot it says its rooted and will not reroot or unroot
im a eris guy and very new to droid can some one give me some insight
The ota dor frg22d breaks the one click type root methods, currently there is no app to utilize for the one click root method. Furthermore you will be unable to "undo" the one click app's changes, but to my knowledge this has no adverse effects. There is currently no widely know one click method on the way so you will have to root the good ole fashioned way, computer/cable/rsd there are a few guides and its not really as scary as people think

New Froyo 2.2 from ATT?!

Has anyone found out how to root the official release from ATT without having to flash? Before I upgraded I had my phone rooted by simply dropping a ZIP file in the sd file root and reinstalling all packages thus installing it. Is there a way similar to this for the new release?

how many f##king threads need to be started for this?

No worries. I just did the linked modified 3e recovery last night & it worked like a charm. Try SuperOneClick for rooting, as that worked perfectly the 1st time for me as well (running stock, rooted KB1): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Good luck!
I tried that but couldn't get it to work but I think its because I have no internet for my computer..

new to the bionic. root or not to root.

Hi I'm new to the forum and I have some questions. hopefuly I'm in the right area.
Ok #1 so I own a bionic and I've had it about 10 months now. Should I wait for the new ics then root or should I just root now?
#2 What are the pros and cons of rooting the bionic? I still own the orginal droid and its rooted and it was a bada$$ phone. I just want to know if it will be the same with the bionic.
#3 If i root can anybody point me to a good root program? I've been searching and found motofail and petes root tool. Are these any good?
Thanks to anybody that can help
You can root using motofail if on the .902 or .905 update petes method works on prior versions. If u install a ics leak you can also root with razor edges method.

Motofail is easy as hell to root the Bionic with. There is a special edition of Motofail (only root program period) that worked for my Bionic running ICS. I say if you are willing to tinker. Install ICS .232 and than root.
Thanks man. How do I get my hands on the ICS leak?? Every time I find it the link says error nothing here.

[Q] HELP! Droid Bionic Root

Hi, I just bought a Droid Bionic running 2.3.4 and I have been searching up how to root it. I figured out that I need the MotorolaOneClickRoot tool to do it, but every time I try to download it the link is dead. Can anyone give me a good link to download it and if possible, send me the steps to rooting it as I am still not good at this kind of stuff. Thanks in advance.

Google "House of Bionic"
Follow directions on site and you will be good.

I searched it up and I read a bunch of stuff on it. I know I sound stupid, but I'm still confused on what it is and he doesn't give steps for newbies on how to get it. He uses lots of terms that I don't know of. Also, when I read it I understood that it is not exactly what I was looking for. It's not really "rooting" the phone. Can anyone give me any clear instructions on how to "root" my Droid Bionic? I want to be able to get ICS on it. Thanks.
The house of bionic is several steps rolled into one so I will break apart for you.
1. You need to be on. 905
2. The first steps in the program will update you to. 246
3. Then it will root your phone on. 246
4. Then YOU will need to install SS 3.05
Install all the files he tells you and follow the prompts and you have rooted phone on ICS

The house won't root a 905 phone which is what the op was asking for. Search for motofail-gb. That will take care of it.

If you want ics then search for ota under settings. Its available for bionic now.

[Q] can you revert to ICS after OTA JB update with RSDLite?

Hi - I think I'm in a similar boat to other bionic users who lost root after the OTA update to Jelly Bean. Can anyone tell me if i can use
RSDLite to flash the stock ICS?
ww.droidforums.net/forum/droid-bionic-tech-support/227639-guide-use-rsdlite-install-246-ics-fxz-updated-10-24-2012-a.html
I'd like to go back, reroot, and try updating again with some of the steps listed on other threads to keep root. Alternatively, may just go with CM10.
just want to see if this will work if I have already updated to JB.
No you'll brick if you do that. The security levels are different between the two.
Just wait a few days, I read on another forum that DJRBliss has been working on a jb root exploit for the bionic.

Thanks for the info. Glad I checked. Will wait as you suggested -- hell, we Bionic users have waited this long, anyway...
Us bionic owners know a thing or two about waiting.. fortunately I kept root through the ota.
"Brush up on your Ubuntu samba skills and wait a few days. And perhaps get your PayPal account ready for a donation while you're at it. Root is coming soon but it won't be a one click. It'll involve effort. We set up a root bounty on droidrzr. I highly recommend that those who care about root pledge a few bucks or donate directly to djrbliss." - SamuriHL from another thread here.
