Canceling Pre-Order, Buying at Gamestop.

NEED OPINIONS?
If gamestop is selling the nexus 7 in stores beginning tomorrow (12th). What's to stop me from calling google and canceling my order, hopping in the car and buying one over the counter tomorrow morning? Problem? I'll call around to the gamestops in my area to see if this is possible. anyone have some insight for me on this topic? WILL IT WORK?

no, order cancellations are being blocked. but you can return it when it does come.

I've been hearing that Google has been telling people that its too late to cancel their preorders at this point

I don't think gamestop is going to start selling them tomorrow. Google hasn't given them the go ahead yet.

Depends on what happens, if you have been following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737556 you would know that gamestop may or may not have received an email from google telling them not to sell tomorrow. Also a lot of people who called google to try and cancel have been told its too late to cancel and they would need to wait till after delivery, return/refuse delivery and wait a few weeks for refund.

Thanks for the speedy replies, sounds like it would be a ton of extra hassle to go through this process. As a few others were saying, I wouldnt even care if it took another week to arrive at my door (it might).... I just want dates. :'(

Here's whats stopping you...
I'm 99% sure you have to be on a preorder list from Gamestop to buy one...
You're not going to stroll in to gamestop and just pick up a Nexus 7 off the shelves. Gamestop has already hit their national wave 1 quota from google. I preordered my nexus 7 on Saturday, the 7th and I'm on wave 2. With that said, I don't know how stores would have nexus 7's just available to a general consumer to come in off the streets.

I placed a preorder through Gamestop and what a slickdeal (thanks for the heads up slickdeals!)
Bought two ipod touches off craigslist for 60 and 65
Traded them both in for $240 credit
270 (after taxes) + 125 (craigslist ipods) - 240 (trade in credit) = 155 for a brand new Nexus 7
freakin SCREAMING awesome deal. whooooooot
Can't wait to get my hands on this tablet, especially for such a killer price. Thanks slickdeals and gamestop LOL

Nexus 7 shipping in UK - some arrive by Tomorrow 7/13

Just saw this..
Nexus 7 reportedly shipping in the UK from Ebuyer, some orders scheduled to arrive on July 13th

I ordered mine the day after Google IO, seems like I have been waiting forever!
Im a little annoyed we (UK) wont be getting Play Magazines or able to purchase TV shows and Movies

Mine's been getting 'picked' for the last two hours, but the hopeful side of me is maintaining that they've already picked it, packed it, and are waiting for Parcelforce to turn up before they mark it shipped. My truly ridiculous side hopes that the Parcelforce driver will decide to make one last delivery today, just down the road in Hull, at my house, in about an hour:laugh:

Yeah, what that means is - your order number (1 of 25,000) is being picked from a hat to see if you get sent one of the 500 they had or the "sorry your item is out of stock" mail
I hope you do get it, but I have had personal experience with ebuyer and this sort of thing before.
Let us know how you get on later. If you have not had a delay or cancellation mail by midnight, you may be one of the lucky one's

Time will tell I guess! Since no-one else appears to have despatched theirs yet, it does make you think maybe someone pressed the wrong button at Ebuyer HQ as the stock as technically arrived, but possibly not allowed to ship yet.

Super envious. I went for PC World due to a cashback offer (having previously had it "in basket" at Ebuyer). D'oh! and a thousand times D'Oh!
Oh well good luck to those getting it tomorrow I suppose!!!

Ebuyer dont usually change it from Picked to Shipped until like 9PM+ so if its still saying Picked at midnight then its probably not coming at all.

Mine is saying picked as well. I can't see it coming tomorrow to be honest but I'm happy they are doing the £15 free play credit as well

OK, So It shipped from Adorama! (No Nans)

Sorry if this should be in another thread but I think it is important to know as some people may have done what I did...
So I ordered through the Play store when the Nexus first went up on the 27th and I got the 8Gb. At this point, I still have received no communication or final charge from Google. So that sucks!
Anyway, today I saw the Verge post about Adorama getting stock so I figured I take a flyer and place an order for a 16Gb (which is probably better to have than just the 8Gb) and choose overnight shipping - which was like $27 but there was no tax because Adorama is an NY Co and I am in PA. I emailed them to ask if there was any chance it would ship today and I would get it tomorrow, but I never received a reply from their customer service.
I did, however, receive an email that (I think) they sent to everyone who ordered online saying that the Nexus 7 was backordered for 10-14 days and I could cancel, or wait and not be charged until it shipped etc. Well I paid via Google checkout and I was charged immediately after the order and the charge was never removed.
So I figured I would give until tomorrow to see if I hear back from them, so I haven't cancelled the order.
So finally a few moments ago I went to the Adorama site to check on my order status and to my surprise it has SHIPPED! They attached a tracking number and the package is already in route in NJ and should be hear by tomorrow at 10:30AM!!!
What is weird is that I have received no email from Adorama with the tracking info nor has my google checkout (wallet) been updated with the tracking info - it still says "order not shipped."
The moral of the story: If you ordered from Adorama check your order on their website ASAP. And it is every possible that Google Play orders may be shipped already but the Google Wallet info has not been updated.
I won't be on here for long so I cannot answer many questions or post Screenies, but Good Luck and Good Night! :fingers-crossed:

and now I have received and email confirmation from Adorama and by Google Checkout has been updated with the tracking. So it is all going smoothly.... as of now.

Same thing here says it shipped. I will have it by 10:30 am tomorrow....

All Nexus 7 tabs will get the $25 credit no matter where you get it, but ONLY the first gmail account that logs into will get the credit.

I'm very tempted to cancel my order and get this right now. I have to play an extra $25 for tax cause google is located in california on top of the unexpected 50$ price jump to for the 16gb and I still haven't recieved anything from them eventhough i ordered on the 27th.

Canadian Pre-Orders; Has yours shipped?

I am curious if any Canadian orders have gotten notification of shipping?
I placed my order on July 1st, and have yet to receive any notification. My card has not been charged, other than the pre-auth that was done when I placed the order.

My Pre-order from ncix has not shipped. I might have waited too long to Pre-Order from them.
A friend pre-ordered one from the play store at the beginning of the month and it hasn't shipped either.

I placed my order June 27th around 6pm EST. No charge or any notification yet. I'm hoping something happens tomorrow.
EDIT: I sent an e-mail to the playstore but nothing from them yet.

I placed my order a few days after the announcement and haven't heard a thing. The Android in Canada blog reports that they are expected to ship in "late July".

True however I wanted to see which Canadian customers have or haven't gotten their orders yet. I know about 15 Canadians that have ordered from the Play store, and I have not seen a single Canadian "pre order" that has been shipped yet.
I wish I had known Memory Express was selling them I was right by there on Friday morning :-\

Ordered on the 2nd through the Play Store. Sent 2 emails to Google so far and have not gotten a reply. Have not received any shipping information or any emails other than the original receipt. As always, Canada is receiving new tech last .

Ya I decided to order a 16GB through futureshop and sent an email to cancel my 8GB Friday morning, got absolutely no reply. It's almost as if they had Friday off, the support is sort of brutal to be honest.

I placed my order right after the pre order page went up on Google. No change to my shipping status.

Purchased on July 5th from the Play Store and have received nothing at all. Expecting an email or new processing information on my Wallet account tomorrow. I am in Ontario right across the boarder from Detroit.

Pre-order through Sam's Club - Don't!

If you pre-order from Sam's Club and then find/buy the Nexus 7 somewhere else, Sam's won't cancel your order!
Their "policy" is that you have one hour to cancel your order!
One hour is pretty ridiculous, if you ask me. I talked to a Sales Rep. who wouldn't do anything about my order but quote me their cancelation policy. I pre-ordered on 12 Jul with shipping to take place between 20 and 24 July. They probably don't have any in stock but they still won't cancel an order. They also put a hold on the funds with my bank!
Looks like I'll just have to refuse the delivery if they go that far!
Last time I'll ever order something through Sam's Club!

Still sounds much better than preordering from Google Play. No updates. No shipping confirmations. No cancellations other than perhaps refusing the delivery. So yeah, never again.

I preordered on the 28th and managed to cancel my order on the 10th july by sending an email request, then an order status request

This is no different than the Google Play policy.
I realized I accidently ordered the 8Gb model. Called 90 minutes afterwards and they said they couldn't cancel the order since it was over an hour. Even though I was on hold for at least 45 minutes.... I'd have to refuse shipping once it got to my house. So I have two of them coming tomorrow. One of them I have to send back then wait a few weeks for the money.

Are they out of them now? I got mine Friday from Sams Club and they had like 14?

I purchased three from Google but decided to pick three up from Sam's club and one out of the three has all kinds of problem,The screen has yellow bleeding, Dead pixels,The left side of the glass is really loose & the screen flickers really bad but the other two devics are fine. If you decide to go the Sam's club route I would check it out well. Sam's club has a good exchange and return policy so at least that's good and a 1/3 chance you'll get a defective unit are decent odds

Nope. They didn't even know what a one day pass was lol til I showed them their own website. Got lucky I guess. I did have to pay a 6 dollar ewaste fee for some reason.
I paid 271.97 out the door for the 16gb
