stuck on bootloop and cant connect phone to computer - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm stuck in bootloop in ICS stuck for some reason, and trying to flash stock GB.
For some reason my PC cant recognize my phone after the boot loop happened..
If I have tried reinstalling KIES and everything but nothing seems to work. It has something to do with the samsung mpt driver that doesnt install correctly..
How am I supposed to flash kernel and firmware if I cant get the phone to connect?

What did you do before bootloop?

Did you try doing this from here This linux script tells you the exact status of the phone.

Well It came up with an update about ICS, so I updated the phone and rooted. After a couple of weeks it just froze, and when I tried to turn it on again it hangs on the samsung logo..
I have tried pulling out the battery and restarting from cwm, but it doesnt work.

Smells like bricking...

Try reflashing stock gb via pc odin. If it works, do a factory reset / wipe on gb. Never do that on ics. Its got the eMMC brick bug. Once done that, flash any other rom that you like.
If the flashing fails at factoryfs writing in pc odin, your phone is affected by the ics brick bug.
If ur phone is still under warranty and your binary count is zero, go to the service center and tell them that your phone wont start after updating. Dont tell them that you had updated a week ago and that you rooted. Claim warranty.
Else you can repartition the internal sdcard using forest's guide or the pit method. Youll loose about 3 gb of the internal space and your brick bug will still haunt.
Claim warranty would be better.

Do you have abyss or custom rom in your phone?

Q: Cant connect phone with USB!

Hey guys my friends phone for some reason wont recognize the USB from the computer. So we cant put anything on his internal card, the usb just charges it. I tried to odin in download mode and still wont read the phone. Tried USB debugging, try reformatting, tried factory resetting, battery pull, clearing cache etc. Just everything you can do basically.
Wondering if anyone knows a fix for this.
Thanks.
Stupid question, but oort worked before correct?
What rom are you on
What are you looking to do
He is on Seredipities 5.8 with the suckerpunchs kernel.
It did before but stopped randomly 2 weeks ago.
He just wants the function back as it is very inconvenient.
Try different kernel
Dl sgs kernel flasher from market
Dl hardcore kernel
Open app
Choose kernel
...
Navigate to download folder
Select kernel zip
Flag kernel
Tried that and still nothing.
What happens when you plug into the pc? Are you using an oem cord?
Tried reinstalling drivers?
We get no response from my computer, and his computer says USB no recognized.
I already reinstalled the drivers, my phone works no problem just his. Same builds too.
We are using the OEM cord and when we plug it in his phone just starts charging, nothing about USB.
Got me, could try another rom, although I am bit certain that will work. Sorry, could be a hardware issue
Perhaps I'll get him to do that if there is a rom that doesnt requite odin back to stock.
Hopfully it isnt a hardware issue.
Thanks anyways.
Any rom can be flashed without odin, I do it all the time, did it twice today
Ok will give it a try, just every rom I read they tell us to flash to stock so just assumed we had to.
Honestly, old habit, dev do not know what you have on your phone so if you start from stock easier to problem shoot
Sorry I just read my mistake
We flashed a new rom but now he is stuck on the boot screen... Can't even get into recovery any more. I guess its bricked now? f**k...
What rom, can you still get into recovery, how long in boot screen
Stayed for ever, waited 15 mins. Can't get into recovery either. We tried to flash a froyo stock rom.

u need ADB....
adb reboot recovery
edit....just re-read that..... why on earth stock froyo? you flashed a stock rom over a voodoo enabled filesystem...just flash a voodoo kernel from odin

That is your problem right there. I wish you posted that first. Serendipity had ext 4 lag fix, custom recovery. All custom roms have custom recovery that can understand ext 4. Stock dots not so you should of disabled lag fix first.
Get into dl mode try all ported on pc to get odin to recognize
Can't even get in download mode.

[Q] galaxy s sent to samsung repair, will it be fixed?

i was trying to install cm7 after seeing it everywhere,i was on gingerbread. tried to install it it didn't work just went to recovery screen every time, then i read i had to be using froyo so i downgraded to froyo , successfully downgraded, i noticed i didnt have recovery nor download, so i installed rom manager so i can install recovery, didnt work so installed cm7 from the app, phone powered on then vibrated, went to random repair shop(Somalian) they said he can fix it, then he said i damaged the boot sector so he said he can do it, left it to him, couldnt do it, after he tried fixing it, phone didn't power on (worse) he did say samsung will fix it because he repaired the boot sector and they will fix it. phone was rooted with froyo software.
WILL SAMSUNG FIX THIS ISSUE, TOLD THEM IT WAS AN ISSUE AFTER UPDATING THROUGH THE KIES SOFTWARE . HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS ISSUE
(IN THE UK) URGENT SENT IT TO THEM WAITING FOR IT

I think, therefore fail to understand, that might even fix it yourself. Could enter download mode?
You should have bought the USB jig to force boot into download mode. Less hassle.
Nevertheless Samsung will fix it for you.
no download mode
i wasn't able to go into download mode i tried many things, i thought of getting the jig but its for semi bricked i think mine was fully bricked.
you said they will fix it, have you tried it before and how do you know (no offence)
Hi,
Yes samsung will fix it, i did it once !
It's when i tried to flash my first ROM, i used ODIN and during the flashing, it failed, and i did not have the 3-button-combo to go back into download mode...
Result : Phone bricked...
I sent it back to samsung saying that my computer turned off during an upgrade using Samsung Kies.
They gave it back to me after 2 weeks!
if you're newly flashing the CM7, then after the installation, it goes bootloop then go to recovery, over and over. remove the battery, then go to recovery(volume up+homebutton+powerkey) then flash it again. try that.

That it can be repaired there is no doubt because it is a software problem and not hardware. I've seen in forums that if you can not enter the download mode, you can force hardware, you put a resistor in the USB cable, but in the end for a normal user is a bit complicated, my advice would carry it to the Service Center. And the price can be from free to relatively inexpensive because it does not have to replace any parts.
phone is back
they fixed the phone free of charge and the bonus is my phone was 8gb now is 16gb for some reason
thanks for the replies

[Q] Is my phone bricked?

My phone was on 2.2.1... Then, I tried using ODIN to flash the 100% safe stock firmware DDKQ6 so i could get to 2.3.6. Only thing is,after flashing my phone stopped booting up, the samsung logo won't appear and my phone won't even go to download mode.
I still have the warranty for this phone, so what should I do? Is there a fix for this without me actually having to send this in to the service center?
The battery doesn't appear... so its a hard brick then?
Will the service center take it?
Take it to the service and tell them it stopped working you dont know when and why. Thats what i did and they flashed it with gingerbread. Or you could make yourself that device that puts your phone into factory download mode, you can find some tutorials on youtube.

can you access the wipe cache data? home+power on? there is a thread on this site for hard brick. does your phone get detected when plugged into your pc?
Nope, cant access recovery and computer doesn't detect the phone either.
Guess the only option is either to search for those tutorials or to go to the service center. Thanks for the help.

Bricked Note :(

I was on Stunner ICS Rom and then decided to try out CM9 so i did the following
1.backed up everything using CWM Backup
2.Copied the main cwm rom and google apps zips onto internal zip card
3.Booted into recovery using CWN menu option.
4.Navigated to install zip from internal sd card and selected the zip
5.Then nothing. no progress bar,no movement etc.
6.Waited for about 10mins, still nothing.
7.Powered off the phone and removed battery.
8.PHONE WONT POWER ON AT ALL.
Anyone had a similar issue and is it resolvable?
Thanks.
I think not!, Sorry, mate - it looks like you've bricked your phone.
Haven't you read this in CyanogenMod 9 Discussion Thread:
- I STRONGLY RECOMMEND TO FLASH FROM A CF-ROOTED STOCK GINGERBREAD ROM, JUST TO AVOID YOU HARD BRICKS.
and
- DON'T flash FROM i9220 LEAKED REPACK!
all found here!!!
Well is wrong way because you miss return to gingerbread before flash cm9 first.
Overall, try to flash rooted gingerbread indownload mode with pc odin bro
Good luck

No harm in trying, but I think it's too late for that now.
Motherboard replacement is in order, I fear....
Can you get into download mode? I had a similar problem and fixed it by getting into download mode, connecting to pc, then run Odin and load CF-Root-SGN_XX_SER_LA6-v5.0-CWM5.tar, this reloaded my CWM recovery and then wipe cache etc and install anything. But by using Odin you will be stuck with that yellow triangle
As you said it would not turn on try the following.
Remove the batteyr for about 1hr or so when plug it back in and try to go directly yo downalod mode.
If you can flash a GB Rom and you "should" be OK. If you still can't start it you most likely need to send it in to replace the motherboard.
if its still on warranty, tell them this happened because of kies update fail.
sometimes, its inevitable to lie...

try a usb jig... if it is able to force ur mobile into download mode use pc odin to flash a gb rom... otherwise the only alternative is motherboard replacement
Thank you guys for your Responses. i appreciate them.

No i didnt read that! i got instructions from theandroidsoul.com page called cm9-galaxy-note Which doesnt talk about coming from a Gingerbread rom etc. I should have come straight to XDA and i'm paying the price!
Hope the samsung repair shop can restore it. One representative said they have quite a number of such cases but somehow they get the phone to work again. So i'm hoping mine will work out.

Really Bricked note
Just got news from Samsung local repair office that its beyond repair. Hard to believe that the software is so deeply intwined with the hardware that a software process can kill the phone.
Will try get the usb jig and see if it will work.
Thanks to everyone who had a suggestion or comment.
I swear I did the same a few weeks ago and flashed a N7000 STOCK Rom PC Odin and I was ok.
Really Bricked note - had to get new motherboard
Guys...read this before attempting to flash ... I had to buy a new motherboard after trying to flash CM9 on Stunner Rom.

[Q] Is my note superbricked?

Hi,
Tried to install Kingdroid 1.5 yesterday. since than I'm trying to fix my note with no success.
This is what I tried to do:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652831
I failed to do the following step:
-We went into recovery and install this kernel without leaving the recovery going to advanced and reboot in recovery
And the rom was not installed successfully.
because of panic, tried to restore my device to stock ICS from a previous backup - failed.
Tried another backup of GB - Failed.
Tried ODIN for Stock ICS and succeeded.
After success on this, tried restoring again to my previous backup, and since than I'm stuck on " factoryfs.img"
Tried Abd, but my device was not recognized on 3 Win machines and 1 linux box.
I have download mode available, and also recovery mode.
Currently, I'm bricked, thinking to take it to the shop I bought it at...
Any other Ideas?
Thanks a lot!

If you have download mode available, then you're not bricked, only soft-bricked perhaps.
Try flashing again with Odin...
From my knowledge, superbricks occur when wiping on an unsafe ICS kernel, such as old i9220 leak repack, LPY...

CM9 kernels, based on i9100 update 4 are safe. That makes official Cyanogen Mod 9 Nightlies and ROMs like Asylum and ParanoidAndroid safe
From his post I got that he was able to flash official ICS with Odin once, meaning it didn't get stuck at factory.fs...so...might be still hope
From what I get, we should add another one to the long list of hard bricks.
